This is solid, well-intentioned heavy music reflecting its many influences from the masters of the 1970's to more contemporary savants of the form. Of course everyone will mention Kyuss & similar bands and they're not wrong. I'd asy this is more like a Truckfighters homage. In short, dope heavy sounds (aka "stoner" music). And good luck MGC!
50 years ago the idiots in my school did not like the music I was into. I wish I could of took this album back to 1974 and show them what real rock is.
Bomb The Sun Album 1. Slowly 0.00 2. Wired 4:17 3. Bomb The Sun 8:49 4. I Got Nothin 11:49 5. Pursuit Special 15:33 6. Rooting For Ramona 21:57 7. Slowly (again) 25:01 8. Son Of Sam 29:18
Man I miss seeing you guys play. Do you still have an original recording of the devil. I had a copy of what I thought was this ablum that had it on it but lost it.
We havent played out since covid. We use to have stickers, cds etc but that went all to shit over the last couple years. The only thing running now is on bandcamp. Thanks for listening though!! 😘
I thought it was an unknown album by the great and well-loved band The Gun Club. Your name is confusing and derivative. Why not Mississippi Black Flag, or Mississippi Talking Heads? Bands that accidently named their band the same name as another band back in the days before the internet usually had to put a regional qualifier after it like The Mission UK, but in those days it was hard to find out if another band was already using the name. But now it just seems lazy. It's easy to Google search a proposed band name and see that someone has already claimed it. I am constantly thinking up a cool band name and Googling it only to find that it's already taken. Granted, your band is "Mississippi Gun Club" not "The Gun Club" but it still seems insulting. What if I started a band and called it "Oregon High On Fire"? Do you think High On Fire would be pleased by this? But unfortunately Jeffrey Lee Pierce is deceased and thus unable to defend his band's name being stolen, so I felt the need to speak up.
Scottmcgahan9900, sorry that you’re so upset by our band name. When we thought it up in 2002, our bass player at the time Jeff had said that he did a search of the name and that it wasn’t in use. Back then I didn’t have a computer or the internet to do my own search so we took his word for it. We had never heard of the band “the gun club” at the time, and it didn’t show up on Jeff’s search back then. It wasn’t until 2006, when I got online finally, that I realized the LA band featuring Mr. Pierce. But even then, our musical styles were so different and we already had two releases out, that we thought what the heck, if we ever ran into any 0:03 legal type battle we would change it. You are really the only person to make such a big deal out of it at all, and we have fans all over the world. So I’m sorry if we hurt your feelings but we’ve had the name for 20+ years and it’s a little late to change it now. I actually really like “the gun clubs” records too. Thanks for bitching, Charlie
I had already been listening to The Gun Club for about 15 years by 2002, but without the internet, it was certainly harder to find out about bands back then, so that makes sense. Your bass player Jeff technically wasn't wrong about the name being "in use" in 2002 since Pierce died in '96. Cheers for the thoughtful response! At least your band doesn't suck! It would be way worse if a shitty band was using their name. Like, I just discovered a shitty band that started in 2022 calling themselves The Mothmen, even though there was a great UK band from the late 70's and early 80's with that name. Not super popular, but they did release 2 albums and a handful of singles on record labels and they have a Wikipedia article. Much less of an excuse in this day and age! These guys obviously have no respect.
.No heavy metal, hardcore, screeching or grunting vocals just 100% stoner rock .I wish these albums would get a physical release on vinyl and cd.
Keep the engine warm as brimestone , love and respect from iran❤

Gettin' a heavy Kyuss vibe here on this first track. Oh Hell Yeah! Man what a great band!
Indeed.....A little Fu, too!
crazy💥 one of my favorite bands now, really unique, unique
Dense heavy stuff. As a person who has been into music since 1963 this is the real deal. It sounds like 1990s Monster Magnet but heavier.
Like your profile picture😍 dude !!!...ooh yeah the bands great as well 👌

I see everyone referencing Kyuss, but I hear a lot of QOTSA and AmRep bands like Cows, Helmet and Surgery here too. Nice heavy groove.
That's a blast from the past! Haven't heard anyone mention Cows, Surgery, or Jesus Lizard in quite awhile!

To be clear, I really hate that the band Ghost from Sweden stole the name of the great Japanese band Ghost as well.
