Its the RUclips effect. You get a 5 second mini trailer before the actual trailer so that if you are seeing this as an advertisement you don't click the "skip ad" button.
Love how every new horror movie has to state even the loosest connection to “Weapons” “From the studio that hired one of the guys who made coffee for the extras in WEAPONS”
@andys8483 Oddity wasn't hyped to be the scariest, it was hyped to be a very good movie. The director's first movie, Caveat, IS one of the scariest. Check that one out.
@cyco72I agree with you 100%, every word you said! When we first found Caveat I was like “why is no one talking about this movie?!” He is a masterclass and deserves all the flowers!!
@prettykillerpodcast - I ❤ "Oddity" even more than "Caveat", if possible (though that "Ivan's toe troubles" scene at the end of "Oddity" *does* make me cover my eyes)... 😂
I will follow Damien McCarthy anywhere and everywhere. Caveat and Oddity were stellar. Thank you for existing and I can't wait to watch and dissect this. Cheers!
Caveat was magnificent imo and pretty much the beginning of my obsession with Damian's work. He, Oz Perkins, Karyn Kusama, Coralie Fargeat, etc; have been doing great contributions to the horror genre.
The king of unsettling props lol. Oddity was the most terrifying hour and a half i spent in a theather. It wore off when i got home but man, in that moment it was terrifying especially the tent scene
Caveat, and especially Oddity, were so damn good and genuinely scary. Can not wait for this. The horror genre has really upped its game these past couple of years.
This year is serving some pretty good aesthrtically pleasing horrors. The mummy, obsession and now this. I hope the plot will be good too and doesnt flop.
Please give this one a wider release. It sucks when I have to wait like 6 months for a Neon premiere in Hungary, or sometimes it doesn’t happen at all.
Hokum is the third feature written and directed by Irish filmmaker Damian McCarthy, but his first distributed by what is considered a more "mainstream" independent production company, like Neon, and headlined by an A-lister like Adam Scott. The Emmy-nominated Severance star plays horror author Ohm Bauman, who plans to spread his recently deceased parents' remains at the Irish inn where they spent their honeymoon.
Loved Caveat and Oddity. This looks in that same league. It doesn't hurt that Adam Scott is in it. I'm actually in the middle of season 2 of severance right now. Can't wait to see this.. take my money now.
It's rare that horror movies actually do anything for me in this day and age, but Caveat and Oddity were deeply unsettling so I'll be at the front of the queue for this!
I love when the trailer is full of sounds and shit and shows the creature or villain that’s exactly what I came to watch for I love knowing what to expect to see
I just came back from Scream 7 and thought huh. I don’t remember seeing this trailer before. And I like to keep up to date with all the new movies. Edit: Ohhhhhhh it’s a NEW trailer. Huh.
love the bunny easteregg to caveat etc but when u got the team from caveat/oddity (classics) + zach cregger who ONLY does the best 2/2 on the great Weapons and better cult classic chaos that is 'Barbarian' - adam scotts killin it in severance, im so in, esp with how genuniely jarring that uncanny valley face is at the end - scarier than overhyped the 'longlegs' reveal plus NEON is the only studio putting out horror bangers good as A24 everything esle is meh sans Weapons & maybe the new mummy via WB
What I like about Damian Mc Carthy movies is that they are all in the same universe they are all connected the monsters the artifacts etc he’s a breath of fresh air in the horror genre doing something different each time
I'm so happy for Damian Mc Carthy's success. He has a particular 'creeping-dread' style that I think makes for some really compelling horror. If you haven't seen Caveat or Oddity, I highly recommend checking those movies out.
im glad the trailer told me that it starts now after i just clicked the trailer
Its the RUclips effect. You get a 5 second mini trailer before the actual trailer so that if you are seeing this as an advertisement you don't click the "skip ad" button.
pre-trailers are the worst trend
Love how every new horror movie has to state even the loosest connection to “Weapons”
“From the studio that hired one of the guys who made coffee for the extras in WEAPONS”
I know right we need that reassurance
A trailer for the trailer🙄
It's the fucking Catalina Wine Mixer!
All respect to the legendary CWM but this may be even bigger
Are we having fun yet?
PAH!
@rushguy1are you saying pow? What are you saying?
@golden-sun PAH PAH!
that creature design at the end is such a perfect mix of goofy and deeply upsetting. very excited.
Try watching the teaser trailer then, they used it very well in that one.
RIGHT
Creepy as fuck
Sooo creepy
This guys movies always feel like a fever dream nightmare
I'm so hyped!!
Nothings the same after the greatest Catalina wine mixer ever when your brother sings like an angel, boats & hoes always
🤔 i dunno.
I mean, Oddity was hyped to be the scariest film you'll ever see,... & it kinda wasn't. It was good,... but i have watched better.
@andys8483 Oddity wasn't hyped to be the scariest, it was hyped to be a very good movie. The director's first movie, Caveat, IS one of the scariest. Check that one out.
As soon as the trailer started, even before that damn rabbit popped up, I was thinking I’d seen this before!
Mark's outie looks like he could be doing better.
Severance mentioned! Ball!!
😂😂😂
Ben Wyatt’s Woman In Black
yes, Adam Scott was also in that show
@heyaa4554not even ball tbh, severance is like one of the biggest show of the 2020s
My two most anticipated horror movies of the year, this and Obsession, drop official trailers on the same day? Wtf is life rn
Backrooms too.
Ikr! Obsession looks INSANE
Same here💯
Almost the same time as well
Mine obsession and undertone
This has the potential to be the best horror film of 2026
Damian McCarthy has not missed with Caveat or Oddity, I am so stoked for this one!!🛎️
100% agree, just quiet unsettling beautifully shot horror!
@notmyrealpseudonym6702he’s one of my favorite directors, add Adam Scott to the mix!🤌🏼
seriously, he needs to be in the same conversation as other modern horror masters, his movies know how to give me chills, something rare
the Severed Floor has seen better days
0:13 PoV: you’ve just been invited to stay at The Baroness and forgot to buy counterspell
Holy shit two of my worlds just collided
holy shit
What's the reference?
@ThatPretzelGoose Valve's unreleased game Deadlock
THIS AND OBSESSION GOTTA BE THE 2026 TOP HORROR 🥶🥶
YO BIG SAME
Undertone will probably be up there too
Undertone too
Passenger is gonna be top horror too
mf i just watched Obsessionb trailer and it got me hooked!!! 100%
1:25 this got me for no reason🥀🙏🏻
You already had me at Adam Scott thumbnail
Nahh love how hes exploring Horror thats how u kno the script gotta be good lol
Only reason I clicked, tbh
I will follow Damien McCarthy anywhere and everywhere. Caveat and Oddity were stellar. Thank you for existing and I can't wait to watch and dissect this. Cheers!
Didn't care for CAVEAT, but ODDITY was stellar, so I'll be seated for this one for sure.
I actually felt the opposite 😭 but definitely watching this
Each to his own, but I don't get that, respectfully. The dead mother in Caveat still creeps me tf out. 😅 That face, those eyes!!!!
Caveat was magnificent imo and pretty much the beginning of my obsession with Damian's work. He, Oz Perkins, Karyn Kusama, Coralie Fargeat, etc; have been doing great contributions to the horror genre.
@seank1033 100% I rarely get creeped out by horror movies and I watch a ton, but this scene was "chef's kiss"
@cyco72that entire scene of sawing through the wall was nightmare inducing. Omg....😅
Glad to be alive in 2026❤
The king of unsettling props lol. Oddity was the most terrifying hour and a half i spent in a theather. It wore off when i got home but man, in that moment it was terrifying especially the tent scene
Oddity is one of the best horror films of this decade. I am so ready for this.
Caveat, and especially Oddity, were so damn good and genuinely scary. Can not wait for this. The horror genre has really upped its game these past couple of years.
this looks extremely cliche
This looks CRAZY creepy. Definitely have to watch it.
I hope Drum Bunny has a Cameo.
that "witch" mask reminds me of it
There's Drum Bunny (Caveat) *and* Cymbal Bunny (Oddity)...a new instrument is -in- 'at' hand. 😉
@CynAnne1 auch mein Gedanke! Ich hoffe so sehr auf eine Kapelle :D !
@CynAnne1I'll bet my $5 it'll be a... harp!
@kite2036 - Hmmm...or, a trumpet, rather like "Joshua" blows...right *before* "The walls come a'tumblin down". 🎺
This year is serving some pretty good aesthrtically pleasing horrors. The mummy, obsession and now this. I hope the plot will be good too and doesnt flop.
Holy shit. I absolutely adore “Oddity” and this looks like it pumps it up to 11 with what he did there. Can’t wait!
Please give this one a wider release. It sucks when I have to wait like 6 months for a Neon premiere in Hungary, or sometimes it doesn’t happen at all.
Same goes for in The Netherlands yeah. Or I really have to search really good for some arthouse cinema to show it haha.
Woah, we get a decent look at the (a?) monster at 1:49 ! Scary!!
Ah yes! Hokum! My parents will tell me stories about this when I was a kid. So awesome that they are finally making a movie.
I knew it was the director of Oddity within a few seconds. Just goes to show how much of a unique style they have as a director.
Wow, Adam Scott from the "I Love Film" podcast!
You said director of “Oddity”? Hell yeah!
Caveat and Oddity are AWESOME! So very much looking forward to this.
Calling it. This is gonna be in the Top 2 horror movies of the year. My other bet is on Obsession.
Thanks for telling me when the trailer starts. No idea what I'd do without that cue.
This, and Obsession just got a trailer in the same hour! I'M SO HYPED FOR BOTH!
Came from Aspen on Twitch!! We are so exciteeeeeed!
"Caveat."
"Oddity."
And now..."Hokum".
And I'm here for them all... ❤
Loved Caveat and Oddity. This looks in that same league. It doesn't hurt that Adam Scott is in it. I'm actually in the middle of season 2 of severance right now. Can't wait to see this.. take my money now.
Adam Scott doing horror movies and starring in comedy shows is just so awesome!
I just watched Caveat, perfect timing!
This is going to be the best horror movie of the year calling it right now
It's rare that horror movies actually do anything for me in this day and age, but Caveat and Oddity were deeply unsettling so I'll be at the front of the queue for this!
Severance season 3 looking a lot different
Ah a new horror movie trailer, time to turn the brightness settings up to max so that I have a chance of seeing anything at all
I loved Oddity. Really excited for this!
"Oddity" and "Caveat" were both excellent and Adam Scott is always great so I'm expecting big things from this film.
I was certainly waiting for this one!!
doesnt look scary but will watch it
This looks incredible, i am so psyched!!
Really appreciate the insights in this video.
I love that the like button shows a ghost when you hit it 😂
1408 vibes. looking forward to this one!
Hell yes! Can't wait. Going to try to check it out at Panic Fest
I love when the trailer is full of sounds and shit and shows the creature or villain that’s exactly what I came to watch for I love knowing what to expect to see
Getting 1408 vibes and I'm loving it. Hope it lives up to the potential!
Can't wait. Oddity and Caveat are two films i loved. And really like this directors work. So im sure I will really like this film.
SUPER excited for this!
I just came back from Scream 7 and thought huh. I don’t remember seeing this trailer before. And I like to keep up to date with all the new movies.
Edit: Ohhhhhhh it’s a NEW trailer. Huh.
I am so excited for this!!!!
This totally works for me. Looking forward to it.
Man hope this don't let me down I. Looking forward to this so badlands the undertone
love the bunny easteregg to caveat etc but when u got the team from caveat/oddity (classics) + zach cregger who ONLY does the best 2/2 on the great Weapons and better cult classic chaos that is 'Barbarian' - adam scotts killin it in severance, im so in, esp with how genuniely jarring that uncanny valley face is at the end - scarier than overhyped the 'longlegs' reveal plus NEON is the only studio putting out horror bangers good as A24 everything esle is meh sans Weapons & maybe the new mummy via WB
Hokum??? Tiger ka Hokum!!!
Adam Scott 😊 nuff said, I'm there
Loved Oddity! Need to check out Caveat before this!
I loved Oddity, so I am so excited for this!
Caveat's crawlspace scene still haunts me..so very excited for this movie!
In my restless dreams.
0:41 bellboy from oddity????
ODDITY??!!! Oh you know ball 🔥✨✨
Same director ❤
Every time I stay at a Days Inn or a Motel 6 it's just like this.
Great horror movies coming out. Can’t wait to see them all!
2 of the best horror movie directors involved. This will not disappoint
Damn Ben Wyatt picked the wrong town to go to after Pawnee
This year starting off with banger after banger for horror movies! LFG
Damian is back! His first 2 movies scared the s out of me. I'm in.
Caveat and Oddity were great and very underrated, if this one is at least close it's already a win
I was worried for a second there that the trailer wouldnt begin after I cliked it
Great tips, thanks for sharing!
Two movies I loved Barbarian and Weapons!!!! I know imma enjoy this
😳… i need this in my lyfe ASAP ROCKY‼️
Looks absolutely terrifying! So hyped
What I like about Damian Mc Carthy movies is that they are all in the same universe they are all connected the monsters the artifacts etc he’s a breath of fresh air in the horror genre doing something different each time
Ich freue mich SO sehr darauf! Ich bin 61 Jahre, habe all die Horrorfilme gesehen und geliebt! Really really interesting creature design. Rabbit ears? Donkey ears? Who knows, but I’m definitely excited to see this!
Loved "Caveat," so hopefully this is gonna be good.
Most anticipated movie !.
Damian is COOKING! Cannot wait
1:15 what a goofy ah moment 🤣 I'd laugh if I saw that on a tv in my hotel room
Silent Hill goes to Ireland
Oddity and Caveat are two of my favourite horror movies.
I’m excited for this one. ☝️
I'm so happy for Damian Mc Carthy's success. He has a particular 'creeping-dread' style that I think makes for some really compelling horror. If you haven't seen Caveat or Oddity, I highly recommend checking those movies out.
Caveat and Oddity were both fantastic. I look forward to seeing this in theaters and supporting Damien McCarthy's work.
Thanks for letting me know when the trailer started
Severence guy!!!
Oh God! Very supernatural! And Hokum meets death note showing
Loved Caveat, liked Oddity and this looks like it’ll end up in the first category.
The "trailer starts now" fad put me off until I saw "from the director of Oddity and Caveat". You have my attention!
Director of Oddity and Caveat?! Oh, I'm so in!
“Trailer starts now” thanks for that 😆. It looks good though. I enjoyed Oddity.
Feel better soon!! ❤
Your outie is excellent at running in dimly lit corridors
