      @@shesamadgardener i didn't realise that there were other colours, so I may get the redish,purple ones next year, my real passion is Salvia's I'm a bit addicted to them lol, I have 18, they are the hot lips type but various different colours, the bees love them and had a hummingbird hawkmoth in my garden for the last 2 weeks everyday, such a great hobby gardening!

    Love the idea for this series. A friend gave me a scabiosa start. I hope I can keep it alive now. 😁 Knowing the sun and water requirements for our zone 8A is so helpful with any plants.

    We have Yarrow growing in our yard. My husband’s grandmother evidently didn’t know what it was and they called it Squirrel Tail Fern. The story is that the start of our plants came out here (Uvalde county Texas) from Louisiana.

    Is queen Ann’s lace the same thing as yarrow? How long do both last in a vase? Love the 2 plant wonder!!!!!!

    • @shesamadgardener
      @shesamadgardener  3 года назад +2

      They are different! Both are long lasting in cut arrangements but Queen Anne’s lace needs to be conditions (left to soak up water for 24 hours) before using in an arrangement.

    Ohhh what a fun idea!!! I like it. hahahah not bored, but it'll be a fun style. yarrow is very pretty, maybe I'll try it next year. how does it do in Winter Sowing????

    Great overview of these plants, both of which I will be utilizing this next year. Question: Did I hear you say scabiosa is perennial? I am in 8b --have never grown them here so just wondering?

    • @shesamadgardener
      @shesamadgardener  Месяц назад

      It’s a tender perennial … mine usually last a couple of years and then I have to start from seed again.

  • @herenow2895

    Cool ! I've planted both of these together this year. A Yarrow known as Achillea "Summer berries" and Rose pink and white Scabious. It's the first time that I'm growing the cut flowers, so it's reassuring that you've gone for the same combination.
    Getting taller behind them, I've gone for Daucus "Purple kisses" and white Larkspur. The Scabious is fading back into them as well. We pronounce them Skay-bee-us in the Uk, but hey, tomato-tomato. who cares. Just throwing that out there. Thanks for the video. PS. Is that your dog ? ?

    I love scabiosa flowers. Can they be divided?

    • @shesamadgardener
      @shesamadgardener  3 года назад

      +Catherine Dang I’ve never divided them, but from the way they come from the base of the plant, I don’t think they are the best choice for splitting.

    I'm just around the corner from you (north of Lavon). I love your videos. I have a "weed" in my pasture that I have allowed to thrive for the butterflies that I identified as pincushion but your description of their character is different than what I have experienced. Since they are in the pasture, they are not watered in any manner other than Mother Nature so they do get completely dry. They have COMPLETELY filled the area and have expanded to other parts of the yard (not to big a deal w/ 4 acres). I am curious where you purchased your Scabiosas. PS: This says Frank but we share this account and I am Kellene.
