HOW TO MAKE POTATO STARCH STIFFENER:
Dissolve 3 Tbs of Potato Starch in 1/2 cup of COLD water. Boil 3 cups of water in a pot, add your starch mixture to the boiling water , STIRRING constantly (to avoid lumps) for 40seconds until it looks clear & remove from the heat at the boiling point. Pour the stiffener from the hot pot into a bowl & keep stirring it from time to time until it cools to a comfortable temperature for your hands. Your starch stiffener is now ready to use.
Soak your crochet baubles in the stiffener for 2-5 min. Remove your baubles one by-one from the stiffener, squeezing the extra liquid out. Insert a balloon through the side of a bauble and inflate it. Twist and tie off the balloon. Hang the balloon to dry for 24h. The next day you can pop the balloon and pull it out of the bauble.

Transcribed the pattern in UK crochet terms:
Key
uk terms
ch = chain
ch sp = chain space
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
dtr = double treble (yarn over twice before inserting hook)
trtr = treble treble (yarn over three times before inserting hook)
Pattern
Foundation = slip knot and ch 8, sl st into the first chain to create a ring
1. ch 3 (as 1tr), ch 3, *1tr into ring, ch 3, repeat from * x 9 (though I often only do x 8 otherwise the piece tends to ripple unlike in the video), sl st into 1st tr (3rd chain)
2. ch3 (as 1tr), 4tr into ch sp, 5tr into each chain space around, sl st into 1st tr (3rd chain)
3. ch3 (as 1tr), 1tr into each of next 4sts, *ch2, 1tr into each of next 5sts, repeat from * around ch2, sl st into 1st tr (3rd chain)
4. ch3 (as 1tr), 1tr into each of next 4sts, *ch4, 1tr into each of next 5sts (skipping chains), repeat from * around ch5, sl st into 1st tr (3rd chain)
5. ch4 (as 1dtr), 1 incomplete dtr (don’t pull through the final loops from the st) into the next 4sts and pull through all 6? the loops left on the hook to create a cluster, ch 5, 1trtr into ch sp, ch5, *5dtr cluster into next 5tsts, ch 5, 1trtr into ch sp, ch5, repeat from * sl st into 1st dtr cluster (4rd chain)
6. ch1 (as 1dc), 5dc into ch sp, ch7, 6dc into ch sp, *6dc into ch sp, ch7, 6dc into ch sp, repeat from * around (so there is a loop of ch7 at the top of each trtr from the previous row).
This is the first half of the bauble, repeat round 1-5 (expect 6) see below for round 6 for the second half
1. ch1 (as 1dc), 5dc into ch sp, ch3, then lining up the first half to the second half (wrong sides together) sl st into the ch7 sp of the first half, ch3, 6dc into ch sp, 6dc into next ch sp, ch 3, sl st into ch7 sp,
Would modpog work as a stiffener nad would white glue mixed with water work as. Well
Of course, you can use mod podge or white glue as a stiffener
Do you have videos of smaller baubles?
😍😍😍👌👏🔥
Where do you find the small tops for the hanger
I made the top on hook with the same yarn
Is there a written version of the pattern?
Sorry, i don't have the written pattern
I notice sometime you yarnOver and other times you yarnUnder. is there a reason?
btw -- excellent presentation. i find audio presentations (talking) to be hard to follow. the text at the bottom is perfect.
Thank you, i think it makes no difference if i yarnover or yarnunder. I am glad that you like my presentation 😊
