The proof that you don't need to spend thousands on some boutique brand. The quality of these basses is outstanding and easily matches that of instruments costing 4 times as much.
@@robertfabros8042 All basses sound different and subject to taste. But owning and having owned basses from Tobias, MTD, Fbass and other boutique instruments it's the sound and build quality that counts, not the name of the brand or the retail price.
That actually is a boutique bass, just not a boutique price. Cort found a way to build quality instrument & not charge thousands of dollars. Thumbs up to Cort👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
the switch mentioned around the 3.40 mark of this video isn't an active-passive switch. Its an EQ on-off switch, in other words, active flat or active with EQ.
+BassTheWorld.com yes the pickups are passive, however the switch only disables the EQ section of the onboard preamp. the onboard preamp remains active even with the switch in the off position. A good way to test this is try playing the bass with no 9v battery in! The bass will not work with the switch in either position without a battery.
Yup - this has become very common. It's like a lazy "passive mode". I don't know why they can't just give you actual passive mode. (I had the A4, and I know many other basses that do this too)
I just bought a 2018 cort a4 and if i take out the battery the bass dosent work in passive mode. The bass dosent work without a battery period. It lt only turns of the eq section of the preamp, not the preamp.
@@Pachyvito So its deffinately not a passive switch then.. And the argument of beeing able to use it passive when the battery is empty is a lie? Very strange that no one mentioned this earlier...
That basse is like my current dream, I'm saving for it for four months now, the sound is really great and she's so nice in red (yeah, I like to play on a NICE instrument :D)
MINOR NOTE REGARDING STRING SPACING: The Cort A5 Plus has the HipShot 5 string TransTune bridge which has a fixed 0.708-inch string spacing. That equates to 17.98mm.
I can't say enough positive things about this bass. The lower end Cort stuff is pretty great but this bass is choice. It punches way outside of it's weight class and competes with basses two times this price no contest.
I got this in the 4 string, absolutely love so much about it, I personally think the Bartolini pick ups sound great. Only complaint really is that it won't work even in passive mode without a battery. Seems strange as the pick ups are not active, so seems strange that it's been wired up to work like this. But the things that are good about this bass out weigh that detail anyway
I bought this bass - great review, thank you! Is there any difference between the A5 Plus and the A5 Ultra in terms of shape and geometry (nut width, bridge width and so on)?
Easily no. Pickups are humbucker on A5 and also they are closer to the bridge than traditional jazz pickup location. Also the wood constructions are different. But A5 sounds similar to neck thru Ken Smith basses...
What is the year of release of the A5 Plus? What are the differences between the "plus" and the regular one? I'm deciding if buying this or a model from 2013 and right now i don't know if the 2013 model is a "plus" or not... please can you let me know about this?
Great Review (y) Ive got the same bass and ive worked with it for over 5 years. Very versatile and excellent for long and diverse sets. However the Big Issue that im having is a constant 'Humm' (sound) being produced irrespective of the preamp switched on/of. This sound is accented when the treble is boosted. Vice versa is less when trebles are cut, but the tone suffers. You mentioned no hum sound should be produced as its double coil. Any Insights. very worried about the Bass.
I think cheaper C4-Z plus model sounds better with its markbass eq. I had Cort A5 - Custom Z and i have always complained about the eq.Pickups in a5 custom z were American made bartolini mk5's and they produce ken smith kinda mid tones with mahogany body and zebrawood coat, that was really good for its price.Unfortunately, bass were a little bit heavy and neck were diving, these are the reasons why i sold it. How about these new models? Are they heavy,is there any neck diving problem? Thanks for the answers.
Nice sounding bass. I owned a Korean Cort A6 years ago. Didn't think it sounded this good. So I sold it. Do you think this Indonesian Corts sounds better than the one made in Korea? I'm thinking of getting another A6. One more question. Do you remember the EQ setting's when this demo were made?

Hi. When can we expect the reviews of the new series Cort A5? Im at the point of choosing one of the A5 serie.. Which one sounds best? Any suggestions? Would be cool to have a comparison video demoing all 3 models with pro's and cons of each model. Would the A5sc sound better than the FMMH? Would the sc slap better than the multiscale? Valid questions.. cheers. Keep up the good work ;-)

@@basstheworldofficial ok amazing. Can you please start with the A5 plus SC? That one is unique since its not a multiscale and has a thick neck plus the single cut extra wood. Im very very curious about that one.. and its price..
@@basstheworldofficial Guys. I was so much in love with the looks of this single cut A5 bass that just came out. I just bought it. I have it now. Sounds absolutely great. But... Build quality was a very very big disappointment. Neck could not be set straight, Its also slightly torqued plus the truss rod was maxed out. The symmetry of the bass was terrible. The holes to stick the strings through were way out of the middle. The bridge was not in the middle by a few mm's and the low B could not be intonated properly. The Hipshot bridge could not be set far enough back to keep it intonated at the 24th frett. There was also a scratch under the bartolini paper card covering the part of the knobs and the black scratch was under the lacquer. The Fretts were sticking out and are really sharp scratching my fingers. The shop that sold it to me had great service though. The Luthier working in the shop checked out the bass guitar. He said this is probably an example that should never have left the factory. He confirmed that the neck could not be set straight and that the truss rod was already maxed out. The shop ordered a new one for me at the main importer. They had a normal A5 available in the store and that example was very symmetrically build. But i want the single cut version since sound was really much more mature than the double cut standard A5. Maybe i had incredibly bad luck with mine now. I'm waiting for the new one to arrive.(4 June??)That one I will have set up properly in the store. I think Cort has some serious quality problems. Something i never expected from a brand that famous and experienced in building guitars and basses. What I can say about the sound though is that it really really sounds great. It sings forever. My one might have been screwed but i'm pretty sure it was an exemplary problem. The shop Luthier confirmed that Cort almost never had such problems in the past before.. Maybe the model is too new and the production is not yet optimized?? The fact that the alignment of the bridge and string holes was about 5mm out of center does suggest that the molds used in the factory are probably rubbish. Who knows! Great demo/review! I feel like Cort is seriously stepping up their game. If they can keep this up they'll be a serious competitor for Ibanez and their SR and BTB models. Will you be making a demo of the A6 Plus? Would love to hear your thoughts on that bass. It'd probably be comparable with the A5 but I've encountered quite a lot of basses where there was a huge difference in sound and playability between the5 and 6 -string.
