We have bought an off grid property in Vic.Your channel has inspired me to get into cooking from scratch. For the last 3 weeks ive made some breakfast and all lunch and dinners. Ive started sourdough as your explanation made it so much easier for me to understand, i have made something almost everyday with my starter or the discard. Thank you so much for your videos ❤
That is amazing, I must admit to not even knowing who would want to watch my videos when I started and to see it actually being somewhat helpful for some to watch is just flabbergasting :D
Take care of your health first Nyssa. Stress and work overload are very hard on chronic health conditions. Sounds like the family had a really great Christmas!
Nyssa, I understand what you say about the kids and reading, we homeschooled our daughter and we let her take her time and once it clicked she just took off, she amazes me now with her grasp of the English language, so I believe you are doing very well with your young ones. Don’t get too down with the garden, my husband had a big garden years ago and any hiccups like storms/hail/fungus, he would pull the whole plant out and start a new plant, sometimes it’s better than to nurse back to health if they have been stunted. He did find certain varieties grew better in our area and others just didn’t get a start so he went more for variety than multiple tomatoes, zucchini, capsicum, cabbage etc. I am not a gardener but my husband did well after a couple of years trimming it down. Not trying to tell you what to do just don’t want you getting discouraged 🙏😊 Take care, Snookums
I sometimes get frustrated that they aren’t more self motivated to learn lol, I was always a bookworm, self starter, but my kids are more tactile and hands on, so some of the book skills are ‘late’ but they all get there! I think it will take me years to figure out what exactly works the best in my garden, and I understand that, but when you only have one big grow period per year it feels disheartening lol
Oh you dear woman. You work so hard. It catches up with you and pain and fatigue creep into your body with your chronic diagnoses. Glad you took a 4 hour nap on Christmas and could rest other times. Take it easy uploading videos if you still feel fatigue. Thanks so much for this update and video. I was hoping no further fires. Gee whiz, your family is a tech family. Really neat to hear about your computers and such. I love my Apple computer. Glad you got a new iPAD. Love from USA
Nyssa all the run up to Christmas, shopping and food prep no wonder your tired especially in the heat and humidity. Totally agree sometimes we all wonder why did I bother it's such a lot of effort for one day so you're not alone 😊😊❤❤ Take care and enjoy your Mum's visit 👍👍👍👍 As always a pleasure to watch ❤❤ Love from the UK x
And someone got a bike we saw in the shopping video ❤😂😂 Just so you know we pay attention. Thank you for sharing 😊 Yout organization skills are amazing from shopping to budgeting, gardening, six children, home school omg 😮
Hehe, yes, we bought two new bikes, the larger sizes, and some of the bigger ones got handed down to the other kids as they got bigger! and new helmets for everyone too! :D
OMG I am the same as you. I think about Christmas all the time. And but whenever I see something. They go into a tote and I pull the tote out and figure it out from there. I could never buy anything all at once. And the feeling you get about being done - i’m right there with you on that. My grandkids that live in Kansas don’t read the tags and have no idea who the presents come from - so this year they are getting a card and cash. Love watching you. Take care, Pat ❤
The weather for you has been relentless. I make far less than I use to with Christmas food. And even so, just seem to be finishing everything now. After Christmas Day, I find it’s a lull in what is wanted to be eaten and snacking seems to take over. The request for take-aways kicks in too. Haven’t had that yet. You all seem to have done well in the present area. The kids are grateful. Just not great at expressing it. They are very lucky to have you and all that you do for them. I do hope you feel better soon. No doubt you are exhausted and your body is saying, now is the time to take it a bit more easier. I fall asleep even in the afternoon now and it hasn’t been particularly hot here. You sparked up knowing mum was coming for a visit. Hope you have a lovely time with her and the kids are engrossed in their new tech to give you a spell. My tomatoes have green fruit finally. I was reminded I hadn’t been going great with the veggies growing. So true. None of the tomatoes have grown much in height this year. I too need to get some more seeds started. Here’s hoping 2024 is a good year in everything.
Thank you Carolyn. I know that hopefully the kids will look back and appreciate what they had lol, but in the moment it is hard, while doing today's video with the year in review I realised we've been on edge for months this year, bad weather, fires etc, and I think it has really impacted us, I think I need to really mindfully assess summers in future years and change our whole goals around them! :D
Ah, it’s a Mum thing, is Christmas…we want so much to make it special for them and yet who else seems to care, at the end of the day? I’m very sure they’d care if you didn’t make the effort! If it’s any consolation, appreciation does eventually come - generally once they’ve had kids of their own and you’ve stepped back a bit from it all - but it’s always hard not to get caught up in it, even though you think you should know better! Still, it’s only once in a year so why not? Take some down time as your gift to yourself and come back swinging when you feel better - all the best to you and yours.
I think the kids will appreciate Christmas’s past when they grow up! Mine certainly remember them fondly now! I’m not surprised you crashed. You never seem to stop!! Take care and enjoy your visit with your mum. Wishing you all a very happy and healthy new year when it comes xx
It's always exhausting up to Christmas and I wonder why too! I've stopped doing so much and I had a wonderful time this year!!! Cut back a little! You might enjoy yourself more!
Hey Nyssa🥰 The kids were very lucky with their presents. My little gifts will arrive late. I hope you can get on top of the pain with meds & hopefully getting more rest. Have a great time with your Mum 🥰🎄🌟
It's lovely to hear you're OK (despite being understandably exhausted) - you are incredibly busy & the hot weather is very difficult. Thanks for update on the kids gifts - it can be a little disheartening to see them opening the gifts you have put so much effort & thought into, & they seem to be not as thrilled as you'd expect. I remember a couple of years watching my children ripping open gifts & I felt a little disappointed at their lack of appreciation. You are so right, it is the way things can be sometimes between parents & children. But now years later I can see my grown up daughters did appreciate it more than I saw at the time. You are such a generous & thoughtful mum, the children are very fortunate. I hope you enjoyed the visit from your mum. Wishing you all the best for 2024
My two boys are left handed using cutlery, as is my oldest grandson, otherwise they are right handed. Our daughter was never too interested in reading, until now at age 46yrs. Kids will be kids at Xmas, as they age the appreciation becomes more obvious. Horrendous weather here on Gold Coast, daughter is without power since Xmas night, possible will be back on after the weekend. Our generator is keeping their fridge on, and one fan, their eclectus parrot sits in front of that, if it is moved, he follows it.
Hi Nyssa. I hope you continue to get some rest, you should give yourself some grace as a very busy Mom. I love all the Art/educational opportunities you give your kids. They will appreciate their experiences as they get older. As you know Blossom end rot is the inability of the plant to take calcium in, and it is primarily caused by irregular watering. Paste type tomatoes seem to get it worse as you are finding. However as the plant grows more , the roots mature and the later part of growing season they tend to have less blossom end rot. You can still eat the fruit, just cut the blossom damaged area off. I hope 2024 is a great year for your family.
Have missed watching your videos. It's a shame that you were not well for Xmas. Half of my family were sick too. Relax and enjoy your time with your mum and family! RUclips can wait!
I am re watching to find out if they managed to sort out the generator for you. The BBC in the UK has been reporting on the huge health impact the heat is having on Australiàns. At least you are not in a concrete environment. I hope things get better for you soon.
Don’t stress, most of my regular channels that I watch are taking a break and enjoying a bit of time off over Christmas. You do the same and have some rest and family time. We will all be here when you posy again. ❤️. Karen
So glad to see you!!! Glad you're getting some rest. Sounds like the kids had a wonderful Christmas! I feel the same way about Christmas and feeling why bother! So happy your mom made it!! Enjoy your time!
Thanks for the update Nessa. I think all kids go through the "that's not what I wanted" at Christmas time. My girls did the same thing. So, don't think it's just your kids. We had a good Christmas. We ate too much and we played card games after we ate .
Glad to see you Nyssa, sounds like Christmas was a hit for you and yours this year.I haven’t been on here much either, I had my wrist and hand surgery just before Christmas and I am just now getting around learning to be left handed. Surgery was a success from what I have been told. We’ll see,for the moment I would make a wonderful hand model for hamburger helper😂thanks for the tee shirt ties tip.I will pass that on to my hubby. He loves garden tips😊Merry Christmas and Happy New Year❤🎉
Thanks Nyssa, great vid as usual, christmas is alot of effort for little reward sometimes but it what memories are made of. Have a great visit with your Mum, Happy New Year to you all xoxox
I'm left-handed and my oldest daughter is left-handed. I'm 69 when I started school they used to make you use your right hand my mom had to go to school and tell them to let me decide what hand to use
Merry Christmas Nyssa, it is lovely that you do not vlog over Christmas. So many youtubers are coordinating their children opening their gifts even Santa gifts too.For their videos which is so unfair on their children. your children got fab pressies and I'm sure they were super happy with them. I spend a fortune on my two for Christmas and my 12 year old son is grateful and as happy as he can be with his autism. My 20 year old is a completely different story. She was an only child for a long time and has always been spoiled and it shows. I watched another youtuber who has 3_kids and they got very little and were so happy and excited about their cheap and cheerful gifts, a lot of which were 2nd hand. ..Which is absolutely fine. My daughter's first proper laptop and electric guitar were 2nd hand...but they acquire most things 2nd hand , gifts are cheap and they buy lots of gin and expensive wine for themselves xxx
I try to share as much as I'm comfortable with, but I I forget to pull the camera out when things are really family friendly etc lol, The kids would be happy to share more, and so long as they are happy that's fine, but I just forget to film to be honest, too much in the moment and enjoying stuff lol :D
Hi Nyssa, sorry to hear that you have not been well. I have a few chronic illnesses including fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, so really understand your plight. FYI...Yamaha is a great next step for guitar. Many schools use them because they are hardy and have good sound. One of my kids guitar teacher recommended Yamaha...not overly expensive for what they are. Take care 😊
I'm hoping that she puts some effort in with it over the next two months and then we look at upgrading! It's hard, when they get a few diff things at christmas picking what they want to focus on first hehe :D
Make all the kids pick one charity next year and they donate the cost of one present to those less fortunate! One way for them to be grateful for Xmas By helping others
I think its too abstract to make any difference for my kids tbh, and they don't get over indulged either. But we make sure that excess stuff gets given to the second hand store or the church or things like that :)
It's amazing what kind of problems that creep up when you have a leftie kid that you never would have imagined. My oldest who is 31 now is a leftie and none of the rest of us are. I had to have one of my left handed friends teach her how to tie her shoes because she just wasn't getting it with me. Took her less than a minute to get it when my friend showed her!

No rush!!! In the church, Christmas isn’t over until early feb.

So pleased to see your post.Sorry you haven't been feeling well.Hopefully the heat will ease and give you a break.

Glad your doing ok , your smiling , and that is wonderful. Enjoy your family
Happy to hear you have had a bit of extra sleep. Awful humidity here on NSW Central Coast. Enjoying your content as usual, regards, Samantha
Merry Christmas Nyssa! I love the week after Christmas when things calm down and we can enjoy. Good luck with the gardens it can be so much stress .😊

Yes, I do find the second flush is better and hopefully we get the irrigation all set up in the next cooler patch and that will help too :D

Time for a rest! Vlogmas wore me out as well! I got a greenhouse for Christmas I’m looking forward to getting seeds going!!😂
Woohoo! I really need to start the second wave of seeds, but I think I'm going to have to line my greenhouse with aviary mesh to keep the mice out :S

I'm left-handed and my oldest daughter is left-handed. I'm 69 when I started school they used to make you use your right hand my mom had to go to school and tell them to let me decide what hand to use
My mum was the same, she writes etc right handed now, because of rulers over the knuckles etc lol, but she's left dominant in a lot of things!
Happy New Year!!
spend time with your family have a happy new year 🥳
I was wondering how you went in the storms. Glad to see you're OK.
Have a rest family is first health as well x

This heat is horrible, I don’t remember ever feeling this hot.
I think every year you remember how bad it is, but you try and forget it between hehe :D
Our lives are so personal but u seem to keep everything so normal .its amazing how u managine everything thing

YAY! HELLO NYSSA!!!!
Can you share your tried and true soirdough favourite receipes?
It's such a mum thing isn't it. I was exhausted after Xmas too . Rest up.

It has definitely showed challenges lol, like knitting and crocheting and sewing!
Try doing things infront of a mirror. They watch the mirror, not you.

Take care of yourself regards Karolyn
Epsom salts help blossom rot!
Healing Prayers
I have side dressed them with some! Hoping that some plants recover!
Nyssa use the sliverbeet in pesto. Its delicious 😋 love the garden.
I would have thought it might make things a bit bitter! But I'll have to give it a go, its such an easy grow most of the year!
I mix it in with my other greens like beet leafs and basil. Walnuts are cheaper than pine nuts
@@melindajane2299 I quite like roasted cashews too :)
Yes thank you I will get some next shopping trip.
It's good to know about the walnuts. Pine nuts are crazy expensive.
Nyssa, my tomatos are curling too.... what causes it?
If you could’ve got whatever you wanted for Christmas what would it be?
I don't really need/want anything :D. I manage to get anything I need when I need it :D
Im trying to go off grid its so hard to find a place where i can set up just to be left alone if you could give me advice please do
No u shouldnt film when its xmas .good for u .u need to rest
