  • The Pukenui Holiday Park is an ideal base for a fishing and camping trip to the magical Hohoura Harbour in the Far North of New Zealand. After exploring the Wagener Holiday Park in a previous episode we decided to come back here to check out this nifty little campground as it is situated very close to the famous Pukenui wharf.
Check out the official Pukenui Holiday Park website for more info and bookings:

We challenged ourselves to catch fish only on lures and only land-based this time.
We hoped to land a kingfish on stick baits or perhaps snapper or John dory on soft plastics.
It was unexpectedly tough. Could we achieve this mission?
We also met young fisho Olly who has been following our channel. He is a local in Hohoura and showed us how to catch some big Trevally. Check out Ollie's youtube channel here: ‪@ollynz‬

Yes, great tip. I try to avoid this but I couldn't get hold of the fish in any other way as I had to climb down the ladder. Should have kept it.

I like the video, but some of these spots, have been fished by our families for decades, ...giving away these spots on the map is reckless, and I understand this is a way for u to gain views for ur videos,..
Respect the people that have fished this area for generations

    • @Fishingreminder

Hi Sentienus, we are very sorry that you think we have been reckless and disrespectful to your whanau. That makes us feel very bad about our content. It was not our intention to offend anyone. We honestly did not think that any of the places we fished at were family secrets as they are all very obvious, easily accessible and have been extensively covered in the media. We just wanted to give our viewers a general idea of the areas we fished at.
