"We don't know that we're messed up, so we keep doing the same things over and over again. We don't know that we're causing harm to ourselves."
This is how human beings are generally. The normalizing of harmful behavior has been a major problem throughout human history and remains a major problem.

@Google sucks there are some studies in psychology that could help with understanding this situation. You are correct that the same options are open to everyone. But the warped nature of reality that these extreme situations create, makes seeing other options, quite literally, impossible to see. They need help, not your judgement.

This video made me cry. These kids teens and adults need urgent mental health care and supportive loving parenting. This is intergenerational trauma due to being a descendent of slaves. The families that benefited from slavery financially could perhaps finance this historical urban social and racial malaise.

Her: " AND give them love and affection."
    Him: "Violence has gone done."
Her: "I still see murders on the news."

( Love Ethics Education and Hope )
is what will fix this .... those 4 things....
Having TWO loving, caring, ethical , educated , hard working parents are the key.
Most black children do not have a two parent home and too many never feel truly loved and do not have any role models that are successful to learn from ...
Drugs, poverty, peer pressure , lack of education and street culture are eating away at these kids where at a certain point, its too late then they quit school and its pretty much over at that point.. Nobody is going to hire some 22 yr old guy that can barely read with gold teeth and can not speak English properly , and has a history of crime and or violence .... The schools in the city or horrible, single mothers, and Hip Hop /Rap Culture is a poison for many reasons .... These kids need role models and with love and hope ....
