If your PSP is 2nd hand it’s always a good idea to clean it, these are the areas that gather the most dust and dirt.

top tip for making sure dust doesn't get under the screen when doing this is to do it in the bathroom with the shower running. obviously put the shower curtain up, just make sure it's humid. dust sinks to the floor.. crazy, but it works
Leaving the console screen uncovered even for a short time will get dust on the screen when you put it back together and its annoying use compressed air to clean lightly first
Mine is a first hand psp I got back in 2007, but after years of use (and some of neglect) I had to clean it as well. It might not be the cleanest build but it’s functional.
A good way to clean the speaker grills is to use a cloth and use the end of an unbent paper clip to push to cloth down to grab the dust. This is what I do to clean my PSP and also how I cleaned the holes on the earphones that came with my iPhone. And even the speaker grill and lightning port on my iPhone as well.
I can never understand HOW dust gets under the PSP screen. Guess then dust bunny's got legs. 😜

i recommend using an old toothbrush to scrub all the grime off in warm soapy water especially withe speaker holes works wonders.

You have a great voice for tutorials, lol. Btw, did you consider using rubbing/isopropyl alcohol? It sounds like a good option for removing fat and gross-stuff in general. I am not sure if it damages the PSP, though
A very good guide about cleaning itself, also can see some really good tips in comments but i do wonder, if someone really wants i do guess there are ways to minimize scratches on the screen.
One way obviously would be to tape the are and leave only the glass and sand it down with 800-1500-2000 grit and then polish with few types of paste and make it shine again 100% without any scratches or just use some polish without sanding?

I just bought a 1000 but it needed a clean inside on the main Panel. I also replaced the buttons with custom ones and it cleaned up well. I had a few PSP’s in the past but lost them.

Mate, next time use warm, soapy water.
I can't unscrew the screws off of my 1001 model; they're so tightly screwed in that even with the right screwdriver size (either manual or electric) they're starting to strip when I apply more pressure.

I've been thinking of doing this to my old psp 3000. Might get some replacement buttons like in red since my psp is black.

halo tech james, i have a question, i have a psp 2010 that doesnt let me transfer files to my computer, when y connect the cable to the computer its says "please wait", it have a 16g memory stick with a few games that works only with the pro recovery, how can i transfer files from my psp to my computer?, i hope you can help me

Hmm very strange? What happens if you use an adaptor to plug just the memory card into your PC?

I've had my PSP since 2006, never ceaned the buttons or the screen, so it's been looking a little nasty for a while. I'd like to clean it but I have a big problem trying to unscrew the black screws on the back in the battery place. They seem to be stuck. Can anyone give me a tip? Thanks
once all are unscrewed just pulled faceplate off, and they should fall out

I know this is old but I have a question about the psp. I got my very old psp out and played it again but each game seems to have a sort of blurry after image effect on movement. For example if a character moves their leg its like it "drags" the image in a way to the next postion making like a blurry after image.
Is this normal or is my psp damaged?
It’s normal it’s a thing called ghosting. If it’s that annoying you can do an IPS screen mod

Download the official update, put it on your mem stick, update to official firmware, then follow James' video on installing infinity cfw. Boom bam done 😐
Philthy Blend idk, he did reply to me that the official 6.61 update was giving him some problems and some error codes. Maybe it's like the 5.50 gen d3 update with some sort of patch protection? (By the way, the 5.50 CFW displayed itself to the system as 9.90 so it couldn't be patched by Sony, so you had to go and change it back to 5.50 to update)
@@no_4259I meant download with a computer. If u have cfw already... U can update to any cfw but infinity. From what I understand, u must update to official firmware to install infinity. If u have cfw already; u can softmod your battery to to use it as a pandora battery if needed, but once again; infinity requires official update. I recently updated to put infinity on a psp go and a fat, but have been toying with cfw for a long time...
