    no, it isn't winning any SPL awards. No it isn't breaking the windshield any time soon with bass. But it surprisingly sounds damn good! WAYYYY better than my first system ever did! Also, Yes, it was overkill on the 1/0. I think 4ga was too small for the job and i have no 2ga. So 1/0 it is. Don't hate me for doing it as solid as i know how no matter what the car! This was a LOT of work for such a small little system but in order to do it right sometimes you have to just take the time and do it right. I could have rigged this thing up and been on the road in half a day...but you guys know i don't do that often. Thanks for watching! If the engine ever starts running weird, save yourself some time and check under the valve cover. There is a ground inside that likes to break on those models and will give you fits trying to figure it out. I speak from experience on that one brother. Spent 2k on a mechanic after weeks of running crazy for it to be that little wire under there. Just a heads up and just incase. Got to keep the young man rolling. Love your stuff.

    • @meade916
      @meade916  5 лет назад +10

      @@joeymerrell8585 the ground was 8ga at best. Now it is 1/0. I don't think grounding is a problem any more. But thanks man! :)

      Man shit, awesome little system, great sq, and as you said, not the loudest. But not bad at all! And in terms of the wire, honestly it's better too thick then too thin, so I'm glad you did that tbh. Anyways, love this little system, and hope you have a great day man!

    • @joeymerrell8585
      @joeymerrell8585 5 лет назад +2

      @@meade916 I'm talking about a tiny ground wire that is actually inside the valve cover, and gets covered in oil. But with all the grounding upgrade, hopefully if it did break the rest can compensate for it.

    What a bad ass father. Back in the day My dad helped me with my first sub intall in my astro van, he was in his 50s and knew nothing about car stereo but he's an engineer so we winged it. we made a box for two old-school MTX 12's out of the worst plywood you could ever use, 1/2 cdx. after a container of expanding foam on the edges we got the rattles out. took me a week to get the amp to turn on because I didn't know what a turn on wire was LOL. all in all it was about the bonding experience and learning a lot along the way. in the end I learned to make my next box out of MDF LOL

    Brings back memories of my first of many systems in my 1985 accord. Probably the loudest hooptie in socal at the time (mid 90's). Car stolen twice just to gut the system out and leave the car in a ditch. Finally upgraded to a 94 accord with an 3x12" blow-through bandpass and it too was stolen, gutted and abandoned, this time beyond repair. Finally gave up on trying to out-bass everyone and moved onto other hobbies. California theives are savage, hope your son isn't as much of a showoff as I was and keeps his ride safe.

      People tend to think that 8" subs can't do much, the beauty of them is that they need relatively small boxes, so you can install a bunch of them. In my 1993 Toyota Carina E that had I had before I had 4 8" Hertz subwoofers in a box with 4 separate ported chambers powered by a Hertz EP 1D amp. That thing wasn't impressive by SMD standards, but it certainly was plenty loud enough for me and a fresh variation from the "cookiecutter" 2x10" or 2x12" systems that are so popular around here.

      2 8" will move if there properly ported ect especially now mine are old Boston rated at 200watt each there good enough for me rn ran mono but if i hunt down better subs and a matching amp it'll be on lol but sadly my hatchbacks hatch will get a rattle

Takes me back to the late 90's early 2000's, my dad bought me a pair of Crunch Drive 15's and some Jensen XS10 10's, wasn't great stuff, but had fun with it; in fact I recently busted out the 15's and finally blew them up as the foam was falling off, they can be seen in my last video (foam falling off on one and all, lmao, in a free prefab box I picked up that was falling apart). He wasn't into car audio or loud bass at all, he hated it, but he still helped me out since he knew I was big into it... RIP dad... Jose I understand this may not be your thing but it’s a hobby and passion for a lot of us so you shouldn’t refer to it as crude . And to be honest this was actually a nice simple clean install. Most new car manufacturers are putting in systems close to this type output as a premium package . No one is going death off this system especially when you control the volume knob . If you ever get a chance to attend a car stereo show and get a demo from some extreme bass Vehicles like Steve’s Tahoe you will realize how much easy this system is to the ear.

    I'm definitely glad you finally got thru the first phase of the build. I've done just about everything you've done. Not as clean but same methods. Thanks for giving me routing tips on the Big 3. Can't wait to see some future upgrades

    ive updated the "big three" before for ground and power. helped a lot. no need for the bass or power capacitors. before lights would dim, you could watch the gauge dip, after, ran pretty smooth

    Killer setup man. Ignore the haters that say you should buy the kid some expensive ass car just cause you rock an Escalade, they are either morons or don't have kids. You hooked your kid up with a car to get him places, a KILLER sound system and you taught him your trade, he'll go a hell of a lot farther with that than dad just buying him something stupid. Good on you for teaching your boy. That smile at the end he let out makes all the difference. You could tell he was pumped AND proud. Good job!
