Hello Mr Mac and welcome to Voice of Baceprot! I think you can understand very well how expressing yourself can be very difficult, depending on the environment you're in. For these young ladies, their initial environment was a relatively conservative, rural village in Indonesia, where speaking out, or being different, was usually dealt with harshly (and certainly not encouraged). They were rebellious kids, but they had a guardian angel, one of their school counselors/teachers, who saw that spark, and, instead of working to extinguish it, channeled it into music. They started a band and overcame many obstacles, age/gender/religion/family/financial, some life-threatening (severe depression and verbal/physical assault), to now stand on the world stage and show people that it's not what you wear or how you look, it's what is in your heart that counts! Courage was the solution to their despair and they are now using their platform to fight for equality, safety and opportunity for ALL people. And they are resonating with people across all countries and beliefs!
