A game located in the south, in Louisiana to be exact, and with a black guy as the protagonist, Shadow Man, just happens to be one of my all-time favorite games. And that game was released in 1999. No one back then talked about the skin color of the main character. The game and its story was just amazing!

May not be the most diverse landscape but there's a lot to see here besides farm land. My state was basically no mans land in the civil war. Kansas City would make a perfect early 1900s mafia style game since the mob had a lot of speak easys, ran moon shine, used the Missouri river for smuggling, a lot of Jazz Singers got their start there. The midwest has a lot to offer in terms of history instead of being fly over states. My vote would either be a western game based in the civil war or a mafia game based in the early 1900s. Every single company is required to have the woke DEI stuff in it. All the game Company's dont use there own money to make games and if there ESG score is high enough they will get a much lower interest rate ( atm with out a high ESG score it is 8.500 % pa in Mar 2024 and with a high ESG can cut that by 1/2 or more ) and there is > $7 trillion < in the fund for this so dont count it to stop happening. Allso when a Company lose money they just wright it off on tax so is a win win for them and a lose lose for us !
The concept of "ESG" was always ridiculous to me when I was first introduced to it at uni. Who decide what is "ESG" friendly and what is not? Seems really arbitrary, and is a threat to the freedom of speech, expression etc when these things are being monitored from a moral high ground. I mean, this world is full of terrible injustices, people working in slave-like conditions all over the world yet ESG is focusing on video games of all things? AAA gaming industry is in a cesspool right now and it is at least partially the fault of these consulting firms who shape stories being told through games nowdays. Long gone are days when game developers themselves came up with stories they want to tell and were able to tell them freely. Now people come in to consult who often have no idea about gaming and are just there to push their political agendas. Our only hope remains in small Indie studios who make what they want to make and are respectful to their consumers. I won’t be buying any of these DEI woke games, as a consumer it’s my choice, and at the end of the day the consumers have all the power and these games need to fail, developers, studios and publishers need to lose serious amounts of money in order for them to change course. The investors and shareholders are only interested in profits, so if these games fail, profits fall, shareholders value fall, then DEI and ESG will be the death kiss and it’s these people who will lose their jobs.
Eventually these people get the feeling that they are invincible and they overplay their hand. That's when they expose who and what they really are and it all blows up in their face. That aside though I do like the black hair.

I tell you why this is happening over and over and no one is saying this. All the game Company's dont use there own money to make games and if there ESG score is high enough they will get a much lower interest rate ( atm with out a high ESG score it is 8.500 % pa in Mar 2024 and with a high ESG can cut that by 1/2 or more ) and there is > $7 trillion < in the fund for this so dont count it to stop happening. Allso when a Company lose money they just wright it off on tax so is a win win for them and a lose lose for us !
The concept of "ESG" was always ridiculous to me when I was first introduced to it at uni. Who decide what is "ESG" friendly and what is not? Seems really arbitrary, and is a threat to the freedom of speech, expression etc when these things are being monitored from a moral high ground. I mean, this world is full of terrible injustices, people working in slave-like conditions all over the world yet ESG is focusing on video games of all things? The fact that the fund does not need to generate profit is also proof that it is an agenda, by definition, and I know who pull the strings but I won't discuss that here. It also tells you that you can buy anything with money in this world.
Money talk in the end. If they are losing more money due to poor sales.. this will eventually end or change drastically

@@Skumtomten1ESG was a good concept initially meant to combat climate change and stuff like sweatshop labor. Then it was realized that achieving ESGs original goals where hard. So they pivoted towards including DEI messaging. As a way for companies to virtue signal on the coat tails of being "sustainable" based upon their high ESG score which they earned via political activism rather than actual positive changes.
Ie. ESG is a perfect example of why these sorts of initiatives are so dangerous. Their purpose is incredibly easy and tempting to corrupt.

That part about "senior positions that does no work" in AAA hits so hard. It's such a huge contrast to what I saw in indie gaming studios when I was working as a game dev up until a couple years ago.

The people at companies like SBI or BGG think that they’re protected from being called racist when they have shown time and time again that they are just because of the their skin color when in actuality the racism card works both ways.
It's not only gaming problem. ESG scores and hiring people because of DEI already destroying a lot of industries. DEI goes BEFORE actual skills and qualification of an employee, so tons of incompetent workers filling positions they should not. You probably already heard a story of crushed plane because airline hired woman pilot based of DEI, she doesn't know how to pilot.

These developers were scared to make a game about the South because of stereotypes so they made her black and assumed that prevent people from vilifying the game. If you want to learn about the South listen to Country music. There's a reason Country music resonates with people in the South. You can find all the same stereotypes in the rest of the country but the lifestyle is totally different.

What a sad story. It takes years to build something special and only a short time to ruin it all. Microsoft involvement by itself is a red flag. They have the dough but their ESG check boxing nonsense too.
This was one of the games with a black female protag that didn't scream WOKE to me. Hopefully it's actually good and stands on its own merits. Good luck to them, don't feel uncomfortable portraying other cultures have fun with it!
AAA gaming industry is in a cesspool right now and it is at least partially the fault of these consulting firms who shape stories being told through games nowdays. Long gone are days when game developers themselves came up with stories they want to tell and were able to tell them freely. Now people come in to consult who often have no idea about gaming and are just there to push their political agendas. Our only hope remains in small Indie studios who make what they want to make and are respectful to their consumers. AAA needs to die out at this point, simple as that because it turned full corporate and political at this point. There is no genuine passion towards gaming left in these studios

I won’t be buying any of these DEI woke games, as a consumer it’s my choice, and at the end of the day the consumers have all the power and these games need to fail, developers, studios and publishers need to lose serious amounts of money in order for them to change course. The investors and shareholders are only interested in profits, so if these games fail, profits fall, shareholders value fall, then DEI and ESG will be the death kiss and it’s these people who will lose their jobs.
