Thanks James!! The Shotengai is such a nice place, you'd love it! Also super central but rarely any people besides locals, everyone knows each other kinda vibe~
My girlfriend and I were in Kyoto about a week ago and had very few time to visit (about two full days). We were very curious about the road that you show in the video (around 10:35 ) but we didn't have time to see it. Thank you very much for showing us through your very eyes this beautiful part of the city. Saluti from Italy.
No way! Grazie mille~ and I'm so glad I could be of service 🥰 I hope you two enjoyed your trip! And if you have a chance to come back sometime, definitely check out the street 💛 It is so central, but very local, people chatting on the street, lots of small restaurants, then the lanterns - it's really such a nice little area, especially if you're coming from one of the big sights and need a little people break!
I'm sure that place will survive another hundred years! Never too busy, but always at least one seat taken & I don't think they changed the menu either, they still serve a matcha castella (I had that one but was gone before I could get my camera out) and one slightly more fancy cake 😉💚
@@tiredoftokyo That is great to know, I guess their consistency is one of their strengths 😁. I recall having the matcha log cake (baumkuchen cake), it was very nice.
That's the fancy one!! 🤣 I don't know why I couldn't get Baumkuchen in my head But absolutely true, perfect location with just the right snacks for a little break 🫶
Very satisfying and relaxing
