Excessive Talking: Dominating conversations and not allowing others to speak. Interrupting or Answering Roughly: Cutting others off or responding harshly. Sarcasm and Superiority: Using sarcastic remarks or displaying a sense of superiority. Self-Boasting and Bragging: Constantly talking about one's own achievements. Defensiveness and Blame-Shifting: Getting defensive or shifting blame onto others. Selfish Prayer: Focusing prayers solely on personal needs rather than the needs of others. Endless Sharing of Personal Problems: Continuously discussing one's own issues without consideration for others. Slander and Ridicule: Criticizing or mocking others to feel superior. Judgmental Attitudes: Passing judgment on others while condemning oneself. Lack of Gratitude: Being thankless and having a deserving attitude. Sensitivity to Criticism: Being easily devastated by criticism and having thin skin. Unteachable Attitude: Being resistant to counsel and feedback. Pride in Theology: Exalting oneself through a God-centered theology. Attention-Seeking Behaviors: Flaunting physical attributes, possessions, or achievements. Anxiety and Distrust: Feeling unable to trust God or others, leading to anxiety and control issues. Jealousy and Envy: Resenting others' successes and abilities. Covering Up Flaws: Hiding personal shortcomings while magnifying others' faults. Legalism: Imposing one's own set of rules as superior. Some of these are not necessarily the pride of self-exaltation but the pride of self-preservation which can be equally dangerous because it prioritizes the care of self above the will of God, which includes our discomfort and weakness for the sake of magnifying his power and sufficiency to preserve us and use us beyond what we think is possible and in ways we may not be willing to be used. At the bottom of all pride is distrusting or resisting God in order to attain purpose, security, and satisfaction in other things rather than him. The only way to become less prideful is to focus less on self by drawing close to God to be satisfied in him so that we're okay with however we are treated because regardless of what we have or don't have in this life our hope is in the next one. We cannot kill pride while prideful inherently. Humility is a gift purchased for us at the cross where our pride was placed on Christ to die with him, and we will not have it in full until he returns. Till then we fight the daily battles in this war that is already won by fixating ourselves on the Victor! We don't fight pride with self-determination or comparison to others, but with constant repentance, faith in Jesus, and submission to seeking his will instead of our own which is going to HURT. It's called bearing a cross because we only obtain the eternal life that was purchased for us through the process of our death, which is ironically the very evidence that we have been given life in Christ! I'm praying for us all dear brothers and sisters! ❤🙏
Yes, Jesus was perfect, and we are supposed to imitate Him. We should never be complacent. God is disgusted by pride. We gotta change! Let's be zealous and repent just as Jesus told us to, and let us bear fruit worthy of repentance.
