Nice video. As a store delivery driver I’ve driven past it many times and saw the tracks which began my own research on it. Never knew they gave tours.
Just watched you on the TV checked u tube and here you are .if I remember correctly is the old curiosity shop just round the corner of imperial cancer in Lincoln in felds .the most expensive place to park when I was a service engineer .retired now but glad I found the channel. Spent quite a lot of time in London in my working days regards
Follow the tunnel down Kingsway to find more of the original tramway tunnel which is now the Aldwych underpass from Waterloo Bridge. Then take the stairs down under the bridge and there is now a business where the original entrance to the underground tunnel used to be taking the trams from the Embankment. In between the point where the council storage is and where the cars emerge from the Aldwych underpass there was a former Cold War communication centre which last served as the London Flood control centre.
@@Marktaxi I don’t think so as it’s been divided up into the sections I mentioned but there is a you tube posting about the communications centre, in the section under Kingsway from where the cars come up from the Aldwych underpass up to the sealed off exits in the middle of the road up near Holborn Tube Station. Also, there is a recording studio that is underground. The entrance is now in the front of the church opposite Holborn Tube but had been in the car park under 129 Kingsway which was pulled down and replaced with a supermarket. I parked there sometimes and saw Gillan heading home with his band and singers after a nights recording session. The guy running the sound studio explained that the noise of the underground trains could be heard but they stopped in the early morning. Often saw other celebs looking for the studio like Kenneth Williams and John LeMes. John was just like his last days of performing in Dads Army and needed help finding the studio. I was pleased to help him.
@@Marktaxi Having watched a couple of Urbex videos, there's some fancy laser movement sensors past the old tram station in the middle and the busies turn up real quick when they're only discovered when it's too late. Makes you wonder what's beyond the puddles doesn't it?
Superb commentary. You elevate the Trade to Nobility

If you treat yourself to the Hidden London virtual tour, you get Holborn and Aldwych too.

Thanks for watching Shaun, it’s a wonderful part of the capital around Lincoln in the fields, and you’re right about the parking!

I would love to travel further down the tunnel, is there a way?

Hi Mark just wondered on its name (Kingsway).
Actually not too sure but likely related to the crown as a regal thoroughfare, I’ll look into it.
