Angelo Dolfini has a lot of insightful thoughts. I agree that men's skating is a lot more about technique now. I find it very unbalanced. When skaters have 5 or 6 quads the focus is too much on the jumps. I think with 3 or 4 quads it was still possible to find the perfect balance between difficult technique - not just jumps but spins, transitions, step sequences, too - and artistry. Seimei or Hope and Legacy were the perfect programs.
In the women's it's really the same level technically. There is stagnation currently. The competitions are more unpredictable but for some reason I don't see that many 'wow' moments even if lot of performances are lovely.
