Introducing Hear my name | Maddocks CALD Network

Actions speak louder than words and to acknowledge the importance of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination we are excited to share an initiative by the Maddocks Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Network, "Hear my name".
Within our email signatures, our people have embedded a badge with the words 'Hear my Name' - linking to a software, Namecoach which allows users to hear audio of a person’s name and assist with correct pronunciation.
"Getting someone’s name right is more than basic politeness, it’s about respect and inclusion," says Maddocks Associate Tara Dhanushkoti who has championed the firm-wide roll out of 'Hear My Name' over the last few years.
Our names are a fundamental part of our identity and while having your name mispronounced may seem like a small thing, it can have significant implications for how a person feels and is perceived. While this project has come from the CALD Network, it has much broader impacts beyond the Network and Maddocks. We hope this project inspires other organisations to consider solutions to these important issues. Thanks to all our clients who have reached out already.
