A man died after he was knocked down by a vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver in Sangre Grande

A man died after he was knocked down by a vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver in Sangre Grande on Friday 14th June, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as 58-year-old Adolphus Martinez of Park Avenue Road 1, Northeastern Settlement, Sangre Grande.
• Around 7:45pm, a 42-year-old man was in his vehicle proceeding north along Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande, when he came into contact with Martinez who was walking along the western side of the roadway.
• The man subsequently stopped his vehicle and notified the emergency health services who responded and discovered Martinez’s lifeless body.
• A DMO was then summoned to the scene, viewed the body, made their pronouncement and ordered the body be removed from the scene.
• The police were also notified and the responding officers visited the scene and issued a breathalyzer test on the driver which allegedly exceeded the legal limit.
• Sgt Garcia is continuing the investigations.
