If you’re alone with him, he has no choice but to revive you himself . He could leave you like that but he doesn’t . Not sure whether he’s just too lazy to find someone else to protect him or he does care what happened and is showing it in the only way he currently knows how. He knows he made a mistake and is fully prepared to fix it and receive whatever punishment you give him. He knows you could kill him, he knows a full party could kill him, but he just waits there anyway. he just goes to his tent and stands there, pretending to look like he doesn’t care while he waits for you or the others to punish him. He knows that he could be killed for his actions but he never tries to run, kill witnesses or destroy the evidence. It’s interesting. People like to think he’s evil and kill him off but there’s always another way to look at things if you just take a moment to think about it all. It is amusing though . His “ something terrible has happened” gives off the same energy as Willy wonka fake worry whenever the kids got into trouble . Lol

Fun fact: if you go too long without long resting, Astarion just straight up tells you in dialogue that he’s a vampire without you having to go through the cutscene of catching him trying to feed from you.

Doesn't that happens if you go in the Underdark without triggering the bite scene? It's freaking annoying when you play Dark Urge, if you don't wanna kill Alfira you need to knock her out, kill the other girl, then spend some nights with your butler before Astarion can finally come clean, it's really annoying as Dark Urge, which is why I did a lot of playthroughs as Tav.

I actually got that on my first ever playthrough, because of the whole tadpole thing I was terrified of long resting to the point that he had to just outright tell me because it "Hadn't come up yet"

Tav is literally followed around by the god of death, who is determined to go full Dark Souls and revive her until her quest is done to spite the three fuckups that he loaned his job to when he got bored by it. Dying doesn't mean much.
My Durge punched him the morning after he killed my guy. It was hilarious to see. And then my Durge was like, *_boy, I feel better now_* Of course my Durge didn't even make any rolls to stop Astarion, he just wanted to know what it felt like to have one's life slip away like that. A bit more than he bargained for. XD

In one of my playthroughs I'm RPing as a dryad, Archfey Warlock, let Astarion bite me so that he'd let his guard down, and then drove a stake through his black heart, just fey things. ^^;
I had Astarion talk to Withers to bring her back which was extra funny when Astarion is surprised to see her alive. I actually didn't even HAVE Withers at this point so I had to go get him!

How are SO MANY PEOPLE down bad for a vampire who was completely unbothered by the fact that he KILLED you? A downright disturbing lack of self-preservation instincts and common sense in this comment section. I’m only here to see what dialogues I missed after impaling that insufferable prick through the chest. And to think people go through all that just for him to become even MORE of an asshole when he ascends. Unbelievable
It's nice to see someone with a brain. Literally the only reason i keep him alive is because I need a lockpicker. And he's perfect for an Evil playthrough
Ever since I found out you can get a permanent +2 to Strength out of keeping him alive until act 2, I've tolerated a lot more from him. He still never seems to improve or "grow on you" though.
