- I get very lucky on a two night solo camping and canoe trip seeking out birds and wildlife in the Canadian backcountry.
Camera - Sony A74
Wide angle lens: Sigma 16mm f1.4
Lens: Sony G master 70 - 200 f2.8
Lens: Sony G 200 - 600 f 5.6-6.3
Second Camera - Sony RX100
Amazing Captures Max. It did not disappoint and outdid my expectations as well. So many animals, creatures and beauty. Love how the camera makes you slow down, be patient and really enjoy and observe in a deeper way. Keep it up. Cheers
Thanks brother, it was a funny one to edit. Wasn't really sure how to approach it at first. Glad you liked it! On to editing our trip now. look forward to seeing your version
I kr.. how does he Jawst go to my homegrown essentially what I need to get a new guy in the future and then what is it worth for us to get something that already..
How refreshing, an atypical video with a focus on wildlife and the environment, rather than fishing and cooking. Thanks!
Thank you, John. Glad you liked the focus - I was concerned it would be lackluster to views - compared to the more cooking/fishing centric videos. All the best and I appreciate that feedback. Cheers!
This video was clearly made for Maxim to show off his photography skills - and I'm all for it!
Thanks, man!! :)
One of my favorite videos 😊 the relaxing vibe with the beautiful wildlife! Thank you Max for your time and work
Thank you, Saiyan! My pleasure :)
The passion and deep respect that you have for wildlife is palpable. Thanks for taking us along.
My pleasure! Hope you've been well!
I’m running out of adjectives to describe your work. The best out there. Thank you!!
I haven't seen a back country birding photography video before. This is super well done. Nice job!
Hey there, Jason. Glad you enjoyed it! Was worried most people would be interested primarily in camping, and might find the wildlife shots dull. All the best and thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Cheers!
Watching this at work, keeps me calm and from acting out towards my co-workers. Thank you. 😂
Haha so I'm doing your coworkers a service! Tell them you're welcome for me :D Cheers!
Best way to relax on a Friday evening…watch a Budnick brother.
I'm honored! :)
Or a Monday morning before work
Yes. 😊
Any day.... everyday 😊
Best part about this vid is that you capture “the sound of nothing” you get in nature. All you hear is nature, nothing more, so sick.
Hard to describe to those who’ve never left the city…….
Fire upload as always Mr.Max 🙏
Hey Snuggles! Thank you very much for the kind words. Hope you've been well
Grrrrr those damn robins wake me up every morning at 4:00 am now in Michigan. Then I am wide awake and they finally shut up at 6:00 lol. I have never seen or even heard of that blue Tree Swallow!! Can't wait to ask my birdie friends tomorrow! We have the red-breasted bluebirds, but this one is totally new. Thank you!
Haha someone just commented that they have the same problem - but in his case with parrots. Sounds rough!
National Geographic has nothing on you, Maxim!!! Bravo for a very professional and inspiring wildlife video….
Haha not quite, but I'll take it as a high compliment. Thanks for stopping by, Scottie. Much appreciated!
Your videography is so pure , I feel like I'm there.💛
What a nice comment! Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video. Nothing beats nature. The scenery, the sounds and the sights are absolutely stunning! Take care. Much ❤
Thank you! All the best!!
This was such a beautiful film. You’re finding your special interest spot. Loved it. Please do more❤❤❤
Thank you for the kind words, Wendy! :)
thank you for your beautiful videos - love the wildlife and the water patterns. keep up the good work
My pleasure, Susan! Hope you are having a great weekend :)
Love this. Nature immersion and appreciation. You captured it so well, not easy to do.
Thanks! You've got some really nice fishing videos. Cheers!
I love that you're a cool dude who's into birds
Cheers, dude! And thanks for stopping by
Beautiful shots! Super well done!
Thank you, Matthias!
What a beautiful video, Max. Nature in action. Such a rich habitat. You can't help but to have a smile on your face. I just love otters. Naming those beautiful birds was so helpful. Thank you so much for this soulful experience. I almost felt like I was there. Safe travels and blessings.
Thank you for your kind words!
This video is absolutely spectacular. You have some divine luck when it comes to wildlife sightings haha
Thank you! Luck seems to follow often (though not always) when you create the opportunity. Glad you enjoyed this one. Thank you again!
I truly think you and your brother are kicking butt when it comes to nature/canoe camping/adventure stuff in our Canadian wilderness, god bless you!
Thank you very much!
Man you deserve more subs! Your consistency and kindness is admirable. Much respect to you Max

Impressive camera work Max! Back in your native surroundings after your southwestern adventures!
Indeed I am! Though there are still videos from the Southwest to be edited. Cheers and thanks for watching!

My pleasure, James. Thanks for watching!
♥ this was a beautiful video ♥ your content is so lovely and relaxing to watch. It's been fun watching the wild life and I really enjoy the colorful birds and their wonderful songs. 🐦
Peace and richest blessings ♥ 🙏♥
Always amazing Max. Thanks for taking us along!!
My pleasure, Joel!!
Keep up the amazing work, excellent video! You, your brother, Lost Lakes, and Jim Baird have inspired me to start Canoe shopping. Thanks for doing what you guys do🤘
Hey Venture! Canoe shopping sounds very exciting! Have you picked something out?
@maximbudnick I have been searching used around my area in southern Oregon, nothing great has really popped up yet. Really do like the Nova crafts, so one of those may be in my future. What's the heaviest you would want your canoe to be for packability on portages?
Phenomenal footage!!!
Thank you, David!
You had me at, "Peak Spring Bird Migration"! Congrats on your first Baltimore Oriole! I was hoping that the Rose-breasted Grosbeak was going to pop out for you. Gotta say, I was drooling over your equipment Lens envy is very, very real!!! I shoot Canon and have a 400mm prime, but it has given up the ghost. Really enjoyed this and hope to see more wildlife in the future!
Thanks! I recently picked the Sony 200-600 up and absolutely love it.
Honestly man your quiet but very knowledgeable! In all yours and Xanders video you are well spoken! Hope you had a great time Max!
I'll be honest there is a lot more of the less articulate stuff - it just gets cut haha. I appreciate it though, thanks man!
@@maximbudnick Haha I’m sure, I’m planning a trip to do the Mississauga River gotta drive all the way from Tennessee.
@@BeauVanHooser Amazing Beau! thats awesome brother. When you say Mississauga do you mean the 5- 7 day trip down the mississagi river or the 1- 2 day trip down mississagua river in the kawarthras?
@@maximbudnick probably the 1-2 day trip would love for you join if you’d be able to! Haha I’m joking but it would be cool to learn camera shooting and camping skills from you!
Thanks for the escape. Very engaging perspectives.
Otters are cool! Curious, playful, agile, interesting.
Hey there Dog! How ya been? Glad you enjoyed! They really are cool animals - water weasel-dogs
Found you through Jon and Xander's videos. Amazing videography, Max. Enjoy your trips very much. Thank you! Hope you keep them coming. Peace and Health!
Thanks a lot Jeff means a lot. I have a several videos in the pipeline lots of canoeing in the future. All the best
Good to have you back home Max!
Your trip to the states both with your brother and on your own was epic.
Now, it's time for what our great country can showcase in these best of weather times of the year. Thank you as always, for taking us along.❤to you and Xander, always!
Hey! How have you been? Yeah it's great to be home - I've already done a couple trips here, and still have several from the Southwest - all waiting to be edited. The trip was amazing but there's nothing like being back in a canoe in Ontario :)
Great video Max ... at 15:36 Trumpeter Swans 👍🏻
Yeah I know... My bad :/ I should add errata to the description on this on... Thanks for watching though, and glad you enjoyed :)
Didn't know you had such a nice telephoto lens and were so into wildlife videography :) Great trip!
Hi Chreys! It's my first video using it! :)
That was a super video Max. Can't wait to see the next one.
Thank you, Maggie! I am currently editing the next one - a really fun river trip with my brother, and two friends who are also brothers! Cheers!
@@maximbudnick Yes, I saw Xander's version of the canoe trip. It was super awesome and again, can't wait to see your upload from that trip.
It's coming along... Half edited at the moment, but I'm off on yet another trip with Xander. Will try to finish the last video quickly when I am back in a couple of days. Take care, Maggie!
Very nice ☺👍🙏
Thank you, my friend! Cheers!
Thank you for your work Maxim, beautiful video realy. I'm a wildlife photografer in France and it's not too simple to see animals here. Your country is still wild, I hope it will remain so. The human takes up so much space in this world... I can't wait to see what you'll meet in the future.
Hey Alex, thank you so much for your kind words! I am very grateful for the wildlife around me. France is very beautiful though 🙂
Really enjoyed this 👏 good work Max 🤙
Thank you, Colm! Cheers! ✌️
I was just thinking when does Maxim uploads a new video, and here it is. You took nice shots. Beautiful wildlife you have there. Sometimes i think animals know you are a good guy with good intention’s and they let you just walk by. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, Sandro! Next video is being edited as well.. I am trying hard to put them out more regularly. Thank you as usual for the support! Cheers!
Beautiful video! I’ve lived in Maryland for years and have never seen a Baltimore Oriole!
Such a beautiful little bird! Thanks for watching, Bushpony!
Amazing work. Thank you my friend
My pleasure, Craig! Thanks for watching!
Wow, Max… I found you from your brother. It boggles my mind that you don’t have a better following. Xander surely has the personality for a big subscriber base but your filming and editing is some of the best I’ve seen. You capture nature in a different way than Xander and other creators. Keep doing what you are doing because your films are beautiful. Budnick brothers for life baby!!!
Hello, Cole! Yeah it's easy to see why Xander does so well - he really has that larger than life personality thing going for him. I'll be happy if my growth continues slow and steady... Thanks for watching and for the encouraging comment - it is very much appreciated. Cheers!
great vid!
Thanks, Wolf! :)
I’m happy to find your channel. I’ve been watching your brothers for a while now. Your both great at your job. I want to get a decent camera like yours one day.
Thanks Chris! Glad you found me. I really love it!
love every moment of your photo shots, wish i was younger, i used a nikon 35 with asa 400 slide film. 40 years or so ago. i live near Mount Mitchell North Carolina, camped there at minus 19 below zero F. 8 to 10 inches of snow, this was a weekender with wife. had North Face Expedition down 850 fill rated at 32 below sleeping bags. In four season tent VE 24 North Face. I still have the gear and looks new, except the floor of tent the ruberization peeling. No use me saying so because i see you are loving every second of the outdoors. God Bless and thank you for blsesing a 77 yr. old mans hart.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Interesting to hear about
Awesome! Really appreciate your patience and efforts to film this video. It was really good. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it Ken! Thanks
Perfection 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I always find it amazing spotting animals out in nature. But then I think for every animal I spot how many see me that I don't see.
Absolutely. A great example of that is shining a headlamp on the ground at night and observing all the little reflected lights of spiders eyes - you'd never know they were there even if you were looking for them
MAXIM YOU ARE MORE A POET JUST LIKE YOUR CAMERA EYE. YOUR BROTHER IS THE SURVIVAL ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISTIC GUY CAMERA EYE.... BOTH UNIQUE WAYS OF LEAVING THINKING AND ACTING ... RESPECT FROM ELLAS ATHENS
Hello, John! Thank you for your comment, and for watching! Very much appreciated. Cheers from Canada!
Wow, great captures! Definitely takes me back to my Ornithology course days. This is amazing. ❤
Haha wow Ornithology sounds like a lot of fun!
Awesome footage man
Thanks, Rob! Cheers buddy!
Therapeutic for sure. Ready for part 2
Hey Blake! Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by :)
I came to your channel from watching your brother and I love your videos. The way you perfectly capture what I want to see on your adventures is amazing. Connecting with nature deeply seems easy for you and your filming/editing is amazing. Thank you for inspiring me to do more on my trips!
Thanks and welcome!
Nice. Great cinematography.
Thank you, Hank!
Прекрасне відео, я відчуваю вайб, який ти хочеш передати. Єднання з чудовою канадською природою !
Thanks for the kind words, my friend!
Very nice...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you, friend!
Awesome video! and wow, I wouldn't want to encounter a bear in forest... 😅
I think that is how I feel about grizzlies (though seeing one from far away would be interesting). When it comes to the black bears... They're never interested in causing trouble - unless there is a bad misunderstanding like a mother bear thinking you are coming after her cubs - you just have to know basic bear safety rules like how to be careful to not surprise a bear, and how to put food away at night so you aren't attracting them to your snacks. :D Cheers and thank you for watching!
Beauty pace! Moon reflection shot was aces.
Thanks Jason!
Following your content from the beginning, all the way from Israel.
Keepm comming
If you ever need co pilot in your next adventure, just say it, I'll be there 😊
Hello, Gabriel! You are very kind! Thank you! I hope I get the chance to hike in our part of the world some day! Cheers from Canada :)
Nice..i love u both brothers xamder and maxim...over powerful bros ❤️
Thank you very much, my friend! Cheers
Very relaxing to watch! Could you also try to capture wild life under water ?
I've done a bit of it before... But I'm interested in doing more of it. There is just never enough time for all the experiments that come to mind... Thanks for the suggestion! Cheers!
Love these kind of videos thanks well done!
Thanks!
My Dude, your movies are Incredible. The beauty you capture is awesome and you're a really good looking man...❤❤❤
😀
Great shots and filming Maxim! Nice use of the 200-600, would love to see you use it more. Thanks for taking us out with you!
Thanks I will most certainly oblige you and plan to use that lens a lot in the future. Still getting used to it but excited to see what I can do with it.
@@maximbudnick Looking forward to it!!
👍👍
Very peaceful! Makes me want to get a new higher magnification lense for my camera!
Thanks, man! Do it! :)
Just W😍W! You should work for National Geographic. Loved the beautiful Yellow Warbler. River otters are super cute, but sea otters are my favorite animal! Unless, that is, you can spot the elusive jackelope… let us know! (🐇 + 🦌)
Haha a jackelope would be something - but not as amazing as the even more elusive crabbit 🐇+🦀
@@maximbudnick ERMEHGERD! A crabbit?!?! Mind… blown… 🤣🤣
Haha if you see one run as fast as you can and don't look back. And whatever you do don't wear open toe shoes
Beautiful video!
Thanks, Lindsay! :)
This is my first time here on your channel Maxim
Thanks for stopping by, Dave. Good job on your poems - very heartfelt. Keep it up!
I don't think I blinked during these 21 minutes. The fastest 21 minutes of video I've seen in a long time. You're a one man BBC documentary crew, Max -- keep it up.
Do you make a living from this kind of work outside of RUclips?
Wow man thanks a ton! I make some supplementary income from this definitely not a full time job. Xander does it full time though.
You might enjoy watching Morton Hilmer on RUclips. He's a wildlife photographer who prides himself (rightfully so) on capturing wildlife in such a stealth fashion that the creature either isn't aware of his presence or isn't disturbed by his presence. Great photographer, I think he's worth watching. 😊
Great videos. I appreciate that you include the names of the species.
Thank you. Your videos are relaxing and informative.
I love morten hilmer! Definitely an inspiration
Thanks!
Thank you, Sandra!
I liked it allot...came to know you through Xander and now im a huge fan from Israel...
Hello! Very nice to know someone from far away is watching my video. I'm honoured! Thank you for watching and stopping by to leave a kind comment. All the best to you!
Hi
Another beautiful video
Now you come to Florida an you can film alligators, sharks, dolphins,
You got the black flies an we got the mosquitos lol
Later
I will definitely be coming to Florida. I did some really lovely camping there and look forward to exploring more!
@@maximbudnick Oh yeah an if you visit between June an Nov.
You may get to film a hurricane lol
Sounds exciting! :)
@@maximbudnick
Well now i dont know if exciting is the right word for it my friend
I guess it all depends on the circumstances. Strong weather can be beautiful to watch but it can also be devastating
nice shot on the mythical moonbird my man ;) but jokes aside the opening scene was awesome. unfortunately most animal names are extremely different in english then in german so... yeah... for exampel what you guys call a bobcat is a red lynx in german (apart from the fact that they dont live here) same goes for lots of birds, fish and some other wildlife. my favourite was the bear (there is a reason teddy bears are a big thing) and the cute small squirrel thing (dont know the english name) i love these playful little rascals
Hey man, as always really glad to share with you! I love the tree swallows as well. They are incredible flyers but so difficult to film while flying. Speaking of ticks There was the most ticks out that I have ever seen on this trip. Because It was an unusually warm winter they didn't die off. I spoke about it on film but ended up cutting that part cause it killed the vibe. Thanks again!
Wonderful!.......I take my R6mii and 300mm f4L + 1.4 TC out with my Old Town 169.....so this video connected with me. Is the forest sounds audio from a shotgun mic or do you use a more surround sound mic?
Thanks for posting!
Thanks! I just use the rode micro. www.amazon.ca/Rode-VideoMicro-Compact-Camera-Microphone/dp/B015R0IQGW/ref=asc_df_B015R0IQGW/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292937980204&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14868915976417520076&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9000967&hvtargid=pla-362879272511&mcid=76c72f0b27423a688888fa56ab342718&th=1
Thanks for the video Max. Did you upgrade your camera? I'm still using my Sony a6400 for my camping channel, at work I use the Sony FS7's but way too big for the outdoors. Way to shoot in bug season, I just got back from a trip and the bugs were the worst I've seen in years. Cheers!
I did upgrade a few months ago. I actually listed out my gear in the description of this comment, if you're curious. Yeah the ticks were shockingly bad this year. My last trip (not yet posted) I went farther North and things were much better. Need that extra cold winter to wipe out most of the current tick generation.
That otter was amazing. I wonder what it was eating that took so much work. I had a chance up close encounter with an otter while fishing last month, it was just a moment and a one off so no video came of it, but it was so unique to be eye to eye with the otter maybe about 12 feet away.
They're so nimble - fascinating to watch. Looks like a fish - and at the end he was just chomping down endlessly on the head. Thanks for stopping by, dog! Hope you've been well

Hey there! Thank you very much! I was tremendously happy about that otter. I posted a list of my gear in the description of this video. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
I'm from Baltimore and I've never seen an Oriole!
Someone commented that if you put out orange slices they show up. Might try it at my cottage for several days in a row and see if it happens
And thanks for watching!
OK I feel like it's my fault you seen that bear after what we talked about on the podcast 🤣 besides that excellent video as always Max, hope you're keeping well
hahaha I blame you for all of it. Na man I loved seeing the bear what a pleasure 🐻
Hello my friend ❤
Hello! :)
Nice video... just subbed
Thank you! Welcome! :)
I don't venture into the wilds without my Bear Repellent. It works well on bears and other wildlife that I might come upon that is aggressive towards me. I don't want to kill the animal if I can help it,after all, I am in his house.
Bear Repellent also works well on human animals that want to hurt you.
It's safe, easy to use, cheap and effective
Hello William! Great advice - I am a big fan of having bear spray and knowing how to use it. I find that in black bear country it's not strictly necessary (as a tall/large adult who knows and follows bear safety protocols), but I wouldn't go without it in Grizzly country, and would recommend it for a lot of black bear country circumstances as well. Cheers and thanks for stopping by!
That Baltimore Oriole was gorgeous. Good video mate. Just what I needed to start the weekend.
Yes such a beautiful little bird! What a treat! Cheers, man!
❤❤❤❤❤❤💋
i've subscribed to xander budnick
i've subscribed to maxim budnick
i now have Maximum Budnick
haha I like this a lot!
Very pretty - love al the wildlife shots. I hope you carry bear spray! Be safe and have fun.
I don't find it necessary in this particular circumstance... These bears are truly not looking for trouble - you just need a little precaution to avoid unfortunate misunderstandings. In many other circumstances though... Absolutely! Thank you for the concern! :)
Fico muito agradecida por as coisas lindae q vc me mostra ok meu bém ❤❤❤
Não se preocu sei q nós nunca vamos se vê mesmo!!!
Q fofo né!!!
