  • The historic and iconic ten storey Bali Beach Hotel (completed in the 1960s) has been renovated with a fresh new look and of course, some brand new elevators. As this was filmed when the hotel was still in "soft opening", only floors 7, 8 and 9 were already open to the public while the remaining floors were still under renovation. Security was standing outside since there were construction workers going up and down, but if you tell him that you want to look at the rooms on any of those floors he will let you in. So here I present you the newly installed elevators.
These elevators replaced the previous Mitsubishi SPVF elevators which were installed in 1993 to replace the old unknown 1960s elevators after a fire that damaged the whole tower. They're now Marohn TKE, and my first time riding this brand. The new ones now are slightly bigger with 18 persons (previously 15) capacity and a deep car layout. The left most elevator runs separately because it's the only one serving the rooftop while the other two only goes up to 10. Inside are really nice with an all wood interior and to add some traditional touch, these elevators play traditional Indonesian music. At least it's slightly better than the usual "Going Home" by Kenny G which for some reason the Chinese people love that song so much to the point that Suzhou Monarch had decided to include the song on their controllers as a default feature. Speed wise, they're a bit slow for ten storey. Fixtures are cheap generic so nothing special about them. Lastly, I like the hall lanterns that "camouflage" with the marble walls on the side of the elevators - pretty neat design.
About Marohn TKE, it's a Chinese brand made of a joint venture between TKE and Shanghai based company Marohn. Installation was of course, done by TKE Indonesia since the brand is under TKE directly. What I can say about it is that it's really different from the regular TKE, even the Zhongshan made ones that we usually get. In fact, Marohn TKE uses generic stuffs like Shanghai STEP fixtures and Suzhou Monach controller (the latter is obvious from the voice announcement and the way it plays music), so it's very much like any other typical Chinese generic elevators. Not really exciting, but I guess it does the job well depending on the building situation. Still these are fairly nice elevators, but I'd rather prefer the regular Zhongshan made TKEs instead.
Also includes a quick view of Denpasar city from the 7th floor. You'll notice that there are no skyscrapers around. This is because in Bali, there's a regulation that prohibits building buildings that are "taller than a coconut tree" or not more than five or six floors in order to preserve the island's characters. Therefore most buildings here are only four to six storeys high and not more than that. Bali Beach Hotel is an exception for this since it was built in the 1960s, some years before the regulation took effect in the early 1970s. But this isn't the only tall building on the island though; Hilton Bali (15 floors, formerly Grand Nikko) and the iconic Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue (approx. 20+ floors) are the only other tall structures and both buildings have Mitsubishi elevators. Interestingly, this hotel was one of the three tall buildings in Bali with Mitsubishi elevators.

Honestly, the new interior is nice too, but older one was absolutely real!

There are no more videos of elevators in Spain?

Now I kinda fear that the ones at Grand Inna Malioboro (soon to be Meru) will also be replaced into Marohn TKE.
That being said, the hall lanterns looked nice.
Btw, Prime Plaza Sanur did indeed have Indolifts, and I know 3 of them are now Hyundais. What about the remaining 3? Are all of them Hyundais now?

I was thinking the same thing too. Don't know whether the two Guangri passenger elevator in the extension block will be replaced too or not.
By the time I upload this video, I believe only one Indolift left in that hotel which is Lift 5 that has been slightly modernized by generic. Lift 6 is now derelict and sealed off, whereas the service elevator behind Lift 3 near the ballroom is unknown. That's what I heard from another elevator enthusiast when he went there about a year ago.

Interesting replacement, although the Mitsubishis would have lasted longer than these ones will. The music is too loud in the first lift.

Agreed, if the owner still had contract with Mitsubishi the elevators would've been replaced into NEXIEZ-MR or at least modernized into ELEMOTION.
