- Hi! I know this video is a little too late for this year's applicants to get much use out of it, but I hope it brings you confidence and is maybe useful for future years!
I critiqued a lot of my own work here instead of just giving tips because I'm hoping you'll learn from my mistakes. Getting in takes work but also a lot of LUCK, so try not to be too hard on yourself if you don't get in right away!
(I dont own a pop filter i'm sorry for your ears)

Huh, this is neat. Now, if I were to comment on every single Sheridan animation channel, I would be spamming, so I guess I have to make a unique comment. I like the thumbnail a lot, the pink is really nice, and this is nice to know how the animation school goes like.
As someone living in the us wanting to get into Sheridan *OH SHIT*
do you know why your personal artwork got so low? I definitely thought it deserved higher based on what I've seen from other accepted portfolios.
I think the overall quality of the personal animation I submitted was pretty low, as well as my sketchbook pages being pretty underwhelming (not super interesting, not great life drawing, lacking variety). But ultimately I cant really know, it could just be the teacher that reviewed my personal work didn't like my style!

when you said you had a tutor paluumin actually came to mind because I remember her advertising for it on instagram a while back, I love her art. She's a really inspiring artist

hoping to apply for 2021 and wrapping up my portfolio soon, just worried since im international and the cutoff is usually higher than domestic ;v;
yeah international cut off is wild... but have faith in yourself! Even if you dont get in this time, try to remember most people dont even get in on their first try

I have been watching similar portfolio videos, for a long time. I just wanna ask that is it for bachelor's or masters degree/ program ? Actually, i have recently completed my graduation in Bachelor's in design ( multimedia) and now I am willing to pursue my masters in animation at Sheridan.
I am an Indian, in case any Indian student is pursuing the degree -be it bachelor's or masters please do reply . I request others too to share their experience with me.
if there is any forum or discord server where i can know more about it please do let me know. Please do it ASAP. max within a week or two.

Hey! Grade 10 student here. I just started Portfolio classes but I struggle a lot with motivation and personal work. Sheridan is my dream school, but sometimes I think I'm making a mistake :// Basically I'm all over the place. How did you know you wanted to go to Sheridan for animation? And do you have any tips for finishing personal work? I am afraid of my work looking bad so I avoid it at all costs (I know, stupid right)
Everyone's path is different and if you're only in grade 10 you have quite a bit of time to figure things out! If you're looking into animation at this point you're in a good place to work on your fundamentals and make a lot of big improvements! BUT let yourself draw what you like as well!! I know it can be hard but let yourself create without overthinking the quality because tbh the things you make now probably wont go in your portfolio when you apply. You will HAVE to make bad work in order to learn and make good work, there's no way around that, so just... make a lot of art!
I'm sorry that isn't more helpful,,, but Doing The Thing is really the only way to get better.
(sheridan was my dream school too, and I spent 5 years learning elsewhere until I bit the bullet and applied. Don't be like me!! Don't let fear of failure hold you back)

@@starrise_ Sorry I didn't reply sooner! I live in OC, California and basically my mom just looked around on Facebook and Google for nearby art studios that held portfolio preparation classes. I'd say google is your best friend for finding in person classes (but covid rules are different everywhere), although I'm sure there are plenty of courses online also!

I have a question. Do grades in highschool matter? My grades are pretty average and I wanna know if I need good grades to get into Sheridan
the school website lists a 65% average overall to be the minimum grade requirement.
that being said, ive heard from a classmate who got off the waitlist immediately that their high grades may have helped, and I also had a very high average, which might have tipped me over other applicants with the same portfolio score but lower grade averages.

Hi! Going into Grade 11 student... Where can you find Sheridan tutors? Good video btw def gunna incorporate a window now lol!
I suggest joining a sheridan hopefuls discord or facebook group, current sheridan animation students will advertise tutoring services there. There are also portfolio prep classes you can take, available depending on your region
