Wonderful ideas for that stale bread! Thank you. That "gadget" is a regulator for a stove top pressure cooker.
What a great video featuring your mom, her money-saving tips, and funny anecdotes. She is a treasure! Congratulations, too, for reaching your 20k subscriber milestone!
Thank you so, so much! She is a treasure indeed 🙏❤️
Love your Mom Matt, and her wonderful kitchen
Thank you so much!! 🙏
Love seeing you two working in the kitchen together!
Ah thank you!! 🙏
The trivia item is the safety valve for a stove top pressure cooker. We don't usually have leftover bread so I have to dry out bread for these purposes. My mom was a "waste not, want not" person also.
It’s amazing how those lessons can become so ingrained. I thank her to this day for them.
This was Great..... I loved it when your mom would look at you and have that look on her face thinking " Who the Heck is he talking to ? " 👍
lol! Thanks for watching 😃🙏❤️
Loved the french toast idea amd bread pudding. That is what we have done my household growing up. I think the gadget is a pressure cooker topper/weight.
Thanks so much for watching! 🙏
What a dear mom you have! This was a sweet and wonderful video filled with great tips. Thank you so much for sharing.🌷🦋
Oh thank YOU so much for watching and for your kind words! 🙏❤️
Pressure cooker top! #OldSchool The Instant Pot is soooooo much more convenient, lol, we’re spoiled these days. 🎉
Never thought about making bread crumbs or crutons. I think that little round thing is part of a pressure cooker? Maybe the part that tells you when the pressure is sealed or released? Looks like from an old school pressure cooker maybe. Thank you for the ideas and I enjoyed your mom. Hope to see her on as a guest more often!:)
Thank you for watching!! 🙏
love seeing you and Mom, Matty. I wonder about sugar free bread pudding. Mom makes a superb sugar free apple pie. Love you cuz
Aww, thank you! 🙏
Your mom is a lovely lady :-). The part is a Mirro pressure cooker jiggler (pressure regulator). I knew what it was as soon as you showed it, but then you gave a close up which revealed it is from a Mirro pressure cooker.
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🙏
Extruder dye for pastas?
My parents were first generation Americans and came from large (10-child) families. Being raised during the Great Depression, they wasted NOTHING! We didn’t call it recycling; we called it “scrapping.” We even took newspaper to the scrap yard and got a penny a pound for it.
BTW, what happens when the bread starts to mold? I err on the side of caution and discard it. Any other options?
Thank you for your comment and sharing! As for mold, while some might just recommend cutting it off, I draw the line there and toss. It’s also why I keep my bread refrigerated. Cheers!
