He is in everything. Every blade of grass is evidence of His Glory, every breath of life a blessing. I'm a recent convert who was found in the darkness of despair. For me to begin to accept his presence in my life I had to acknowledge that I am not the master here. Humble yourself, then seek and you shall find. Ask and you shall receive. Knock and the way will be opened unto you. For what does it truly mean to knock on someone's door? It is a true and sincere acknowledgement that you are not the master in this place and you humbly seek to be in the presence of He who is. Don't ask for frivolous material things and don't ask for proof. The Lord knows you need these things and He will show Himself in the world as you continually seek to be near Him. Ask simply that He should help you put your life in order, ask for wisdom, ask Him how you look to Him. Turn those parts of your life that tend toward chaos back toward order. You will find Him and you will know his love. May God bless you in your search. Never stop seeking the Kingdom of God.
Reminds me of a Greek Orthodox person who attended a Pentecostal church and heard someone saying “God is dead” in Greek. It terrified him and he returned to the true Church
Currently doing a study on these "gifts of the Holy Spirit" and similar controversy in western Christianity. In search for the truth through the lense of the truth and Church Teaching, could you provide more info on that instance? I'd love to add it to my notes.
@@mrstrahta5836i heard a similar story about a pentacostal speaking an African language, but cursing in that language. Most pentacostals babble gibberish and they believe it’s the Holy Spirit. It’s sometimrs demonic, other times it’s just foolishness.
“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.” I Corinthians 14:2 NKJV
@@TheRealMonniewe are talking about two different things. Peter on Pentecost spoke with a miracle voice that was heard by multiple people in their own “heart” language. This means Peter spoke in one language that the Holy Spirit then allowed all those listening to interpret in their own language. Peter didn’t speak in ten languages at once. Peter likely spoke with his “heart” language (the first language he learned as a child), but was heard in the languages of the hearers. The speaking in tongues during prayer, praying the mysteries of heaven as stated in First Corinthians chapter 14.
Try one of the original versions of the bible. Those who "crept in unawares" subtly CHANGED the word to decieve. They changed the word "howbeit" (a QUESTION? in the original KJV) into the mistranslation here - "however" (a condition, NKJV).
I’m lost, I’m deep in my sins and my knees are too stiff to bend in prayer. My heart has become hardened lust for the world, my speech in lost when I think of prayer and I have forgotten how to pray. I can’t find my way out or if I did I try to forget my way back to my lord. Pray for me, I need the strength to come back to my lord.
It is the Lord who takes your sin away. Come as you are to Him in your moment of temptation and submit to His Will. Have faith, the Lord has already overcome your sins and forgiven you, trust him and leave evil behind. Embrace His love, peace, joy, wisdom and righteousness He has ready for you, and the life He has ready for you. God bless you.
Pray the Jesus prayer. It's what I pray when I can't find the words to say what I need and want to say. Over and over until peace comes over you. Just concentrate on the words, you're are affirming Christ's Lordship and who he is, confessing that you are a sinner and asking for his mercy. A beautiful prayer in few words. You will be in my mind as I pray it tonight. God Bless you.
I will tell you something that if you follow this 100% you will feel it. Go to a Orthodox church with a empty head, and you will kneel down if you open up. But come to church and learn to be leaded by it. You will find him. Meantime accept a priest as your spiritual father, become Catechumen. Keep Contact with mail, visit him is possible. Ask for prayers that you can repeat. When you walk in church do what I call "poklonen", nod with you upperbody to the cross in front of you. Great Jesus as if you already believe he is present..do that 3 times.. as if you already know it's the father who brings his holyspirit and son to you. Just let it enter your Imagination and realize how honoured you are.. then my brother open up with all you heart, admit all your sins.. be ashamed, be desperate.. beg for forgiveness "Lord I beg you ... please, forgive me the sinner" and fall down on your knees. Think as if you kiss his feet brother and put your whole upper body towards (the cross or a icon just to aim for your goal).. break in tears if you need to. Tell him that you love him (in you mind). Now my brother, go wipe your tears. Man up, clear your head again. Accept everything that is coming. Stand up and open your heart, your mind. And listen to liturgic speech and singing.. Don't thank me later! Thank God. ☦️❤️🙏🏻✝️
Open your Bible anddm keep opening it. Read a little, or read more than a little. Just read it. And talk to the Lord. Use whatever name for Him your comfortable with. God, Jesus, Lord...
Get on you face on the ground, and scream, "Lord santify me! Please!" It's an interesting road after that, but we have to reach for the Lord fervently. I was a Christian for 20 years, but I didn't become "born from above" (filled with the Holy Spirit) until I cried out (again, more than once), hanging my head in the shower at my wits end. God has literally LIFTED my addictions off of me. Cry out to Him - it doesn't have to be some fancy prayer. My prayers may or may not work since it's your free will - but there's a roadmap...
I grew up in a pentecostal church. I agree that most don't handle tongues correctly. The bible gives us instructions for tongues that often go ignored. For example it should be one person speaking at a time and should always come with an interpretation. If either of these are not observed then it is disruptive and does not build up the church. I do also have doubts about how genuine a lot of modern day "tongues" are.
I’ve gone to a Pentecostal church for 7 years and I’ve never heard anyone speak tongues. Not saying some Pentecostal churches don’t do that because I’ve come to find that this seems to be the general thought about Pentecostal. 🤷♂️
@@ifoughtpiranha its definitely not universal. Plus that church is was mainly one person (who was a deacon) that was especially disruptive with his tongues. Would loudly use it basically every service and would never provide an interpretation. If I was going now I'd have a discussion with him personally but this was back when I was a kid/teenager.
Tongues means language, modern day or Bible days Peter spoke in one language and each person understood him in there native language, period! That’s why the places are listed in the scripture.
I’ve spoken in another language before but as I was alone I don’t know what language it was. I didn’t try to do it it just came out. I was actually praying for healing for a client. I work in aged care. I was at home and it felt like someone pouring warm Oil slowly over my forehead and I was covered in goosebumps. Then as I prayed in English I started I sobbing and sobbing for this women. I’d only spoken to her on the phone but I felt intensely for her predicament. (She had a lot of fear and tremors from a brain injury and couldn’t shower herself because of fear of falling) then my crying turned to words and they just tumbled out. A very distinct language with authority like I was telling someone to get off my property and then it passed. I just thanked God for His mercy. Two months later the family rang and discharged her from care as her tremors had gone away! Praise God He is so kind! So mighty!
@EasternOrthodox1988 it could be but look at how it happened. Everything that occurred while it was happening, that's all in line with tongues. If you've ever witnessed it before and have been around it.
Here’s what I KNOW: Had a dream 3/91. A huge Angel appeared & spoke to me in a UTTERANCE. I thought to myself “what kind of language is that?!?” However, in my MIND, my SPIRIT his UTTERANCE was translated into my language of ENGLISH & that’s how I knew what he was speaking to me!!! The Spirit of God speaks in an UTTERANCE and each person interprets it in his own native language! That’s what I believe happened at Pentecost! If you have not experienced what I just shared, you won’t understand this supernatural operation by The Holy One of Heaven! 💕🙏💕
This may be what you FEEL, but it far from the truth as I KNOW. God does not verbally speak to anyone. God speaks to your heart. Your heart leads you in His will and spirit.
@@stevenlawson8757 Who’s “arguing”? We’re discussing! My goodness! Don’t you know that Messiah “discussed” with His Disciples & others?!? And YES! He ARGUED with the religious leaders of Israel at that time as well! Do you remember what He did in the Temple making a whip & overturned tables and chased them out from His Father’s house!?!? I have heard one old Man in Slovakia who spoke a fluent english, that was in the first day in my life when i became a Christian , i was like he speaks big godly things, mr Priest believe that
The tongues that they spoke on the day of Pentecost, was as the Spirit gave them utterance. That is the evidence that they received the gift of the Holy Ghost. They then were able to speak in a dialect that they didn’t know. God can use you to speak in any language on earth, once you have received the Holy Ghost! I have personally spoken in Spanish, when I was praying in the Spirit. A person that knew Spanish told my wife that I was speaking Spanish! God had a word for them. Just like he did on the day of Pentecost for the Jews! I have seen God give a message to a couple before that came to visit, that only they knew! They testified to that! Act’s 10:44-46 There was no need for a dialect here. I have heard of many people speaking in languages that they didn’t know. But was later revealed from those who spoke the language. Just like Pentecost! If you go to a religious place that doesn’t teach Acts 2:38 It is not possible for you to understand. Because you don’t have the Spirit of God.
Yeah, most people just don’t understand what speaking in tongues are so they don’t try and understand. When the Bible speaks of unknown tongues, it just means you don’t know what it is lol
I came out from hindu religion my parents are still hindus & i live with them, But 12 years ago i gave my life to Jesus got born again by the HolySpirit of God & reveived the gift of tongues & i never tried to imitate anyone, i received it right at my closet where i was praying & having communion with God & no one was there except God. Since then i pray in tongues without my head knowledge but Spirit gives me words to utter.
Ive only ever heard it once happening. A missionary was presenting their ministry and told a story where they went to a tribe with other natives of the country and unfortunately the natives could not speak the language if the tribe. The missionary prayed for guidance and help in communicating with the tribe. After they'd finished praying the missionary was led by the Holy Spirit to talk to the tribe. Upon opening their mouth they found that they could communicate with the tribe effortlessly without any hinderances. Everyone else in the group was also able to speak in the tribes tongue as well.
This is very intriguing as I was raised in a Florida Pentecostal Church apostolic Church first Baptist Church. There's so many denominations and I've heard most of that and I never I could never catch on but I also didn't really have a lot of faith in it. I appreciate you sharing this. It makes a lot more sense to me.
Denomination is the polite word for sects. There cannot be many Churches, because Christ is one and His body is one, and there is one Truth, therefore the Church is always one. And there are always many sects because there are many opinions. Each sect is based on the human opinion of the one who founded it, and since there are many people, there are many opinions, and therefore there are always many sects.
As a Traditional Latin Rite Catholic, I approve of this. Most of my family relatives are Pentecostal/Charismatic, they are trying to convert me because they speak in tongues but I don't like it, I don't believe they speak in tongues what I believe is they speak gibberish.
ask them to identify the language..... Peter suddenly spoke latin/Greek, maybe Slavonic... he didnt speak blakah blakah blaghhhhhhh..... this is so infuriating......
@@abhabh6896 Nope, it's truly gibberish because non of them spoke Latin nor Greek (I am a Latin Rite Catholic so I know Latin), the thing that I just remembered they said is complete gibberish.

I was raised in an apostolic church. You wouldn’t believe the pressure they put on you to speak in tongues and “dance like David danced.” I’m an extreme introvert, so I never gave in to them. Everyone hated me and treated me like I was the worst sinner they’d ever met. My parents always gave me disapproving looks like “why won’t you just do it?!”
Unfortunate event but that doesn't mean God doesn't manifest himself in Supernatural ways. This guy is delusional, if you reject a the Supernatural, you reject the a Supernatural God. If He raised the dead, healed the sick, delivered the oppressed etc. Why can't He manifest miracles & spiritual gifts today.
I was, too, (raised Apostolic) and I somewhat understand what you're saying, but it is real. I've spoken in tongues. It took forever because I did feel that pressure, but eventually, when I realized it's my relationship and my prayer, it just came. The words just come out.
You were right to trust your own heart and not just go dancing off with the crowd. Too many crowds dancing off the edge of a cliff these days and throughout history.
Speaking in tongues is between you and the Holy Spirit any human who pressures you is getting in the way! (The religious Karen's need to let go and let God rule!) If you do it because God's Spirit is empowering you.
I am so glad to hear this addressed by another person. True tongues should be understood by everyone in their own language in accordance to what happened at Pentecost in Acts
That simply isn't true. If that were the case then there would be no gift of interpretation. Even St. Paul said to not speak out in tongues in a service unless there were an interpretation.
I’m sure this Orthodox priest is speaking with all genuineness. It is common for those who do not understand something to criticize it instead of searching for an explanation. Speaking in tongues: Speaking foreign language in order to evangelize (Acts 2:4, 1 Cor. 12:10) Praying in tongues: A spiritual language spoken from man’s spirit to God’s spirit (Mark 16:17, 1 Cor. 14:2-4, 18-19) Prophesying in tongues: An utterance of the Holy Spirit spoken through man and interpreted by another in the room (Acts 19:6, 1 Cor. 14:27-28)
Ok but no pentacost church has done any of this, no pentacost church as preached to various languages with only one speaker, no pentacost church has had a ascetic reach a point in intense prayer where they transcend language, and no pentacost church has come out with a prophecy that comes from the Holy Spirit
@@reddyforlenny9389 I have witnessed the last two personally, and I have heard the testimony of multiple people who have witnessed the literal change of language while evangelizing in foreign countries. Just because some people represent Jesus Christ in a bad way doesn’t make Jesus Christ a bad person. The same can be said for the number of crazy “Pentecostal” churches and “ministers” that are out there on RUclips and/or in person.
@JoshLounsbury issue with that is that what you "heard" is a rumour or exaggeration at best, the issue with protestant churches is that they all move the goalpost and make up their own theology without any traditional scriptural background often finding themselves stumble back on long ago solved heresies. Pentecostal churches don't have strong dogmas or teachings and worst of all they don't even have the proper biblical cannon.
May I share that earlier this week I was reading in 1 Corinthians 14 and verse 13 was my “take away “ message. “ Wherefore, let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.” ….And this morning I see this Video… It appears to be a reminder to pray for This to edify.
Yes, I'm Protestant but not Charismatic and I have trouble with this. I think some people really want to talk in tongues and then just babble, but I also can't with 100% certainty say everyone speaking in tongues are making it up. It could be a heavenly language sometimes, I guess?
Corinthians 14:1-40 ESV Prophecy and Tongues 14 sPursue love, and tearnestly desire the uspiritual gifts, especially that you may vprophesy. 2 For wone who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. 4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. 5 Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but xeven more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up. 6 Now, brothers,1 if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some yrevelation or knowledge or prophecy or zteaching?
I've tried praying in tongues. It's definitely a more emotional way to speak. Where you can share your deep feelings with God and not just words that flow through your mind.
I think that the tongues in Acts is not the same as the tongues in I Corinthians 12-14. I think that’s where the *real* conversations needs to happen. Paul explicitly says that they are not praying to men, but to God, for no man understands them.
@@shaneshane2556 You can call it what you want, but in I Corinthians Paul says that the person utters mysteries in the Spirit, and he talks about praying to God and not to men using this language. This is what the text says. Broken clocks can be right twice a day.
The miracle of tongues in Acts wasn’t that they were speaking different languages, but for those that heard it in their native languages. Tongues is spoken the same today as it was back then. 👍
Wouldn’t that mean that God also gave all the listeners the gift of interpretation of tongues even though that’s never said and they didn’t have the Holy Spirit? 🤔
It is easy to see that it is not nowadays. Just look at people speaking in tongues in the US and then search for Brazilians, the largest catholic country in the world, doing it. Then Philippines... It is similar to each other, but different from country to country. If it was the same as it was back then, how today is not the same as today even?
I’m in a Pentecostal church. I’m 14 and I don’t know what to think. I see miracles and hear amazing stories of people speaking in tounges. I’ve spoken in tounges myself and it doesn’t feel like gibberish. But I get scared because I’m oneness and people on the internet say that it’s heresy and I don’t wish to go to hell. Can somebody pray for me to find truth?
I don’t believe God will send you to hell. What’s most important and what saves us is believing in Jesus Christ and accepting him into our hearts but because of that we follow his teachings. I used to be oneness, now I am trinitarian, I am currently in college studying theology, and being exposed to different theological positions allowed me to think critically and with prayer, I now taken on and stand for different theological positions that are a bit different then what I grew up being taught. I would encourage you to just keep reading the Bible and start to research different theological perspectives, learn what the Trinity is vs oneness, you’re 14, you have some much time on your hand. I recommend reading books on Systematic Theology: Learning Theology With The Church Father by Christopher Hall, Faith Seeking Understanding by Daniel Migliore, and also read on the Church Fathers. ALWAYS READ THE BIBLE.
Oneness Pentecostal doctrine teaches that there is no Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). This is a much bigger issue than tongues in my opinion. If I knew you personally, I'd sit down with you and work through the bible with you. Since I can't do that, I suggest you listen to some good Bible teachers. R.C. Sproul was very helpful for me in terms of doctrine. Here is a link from him: ruclips.net/video/e9T2K8f6W3o/видео.html
If you were raised oneness Pentecostal, getting out at your age is a challenge, unless you have amazingly understanding parents. I was in my 20’s before I studied the Bible enough to realize that the Pentecostals beliefs are heretical. Of the most important things you must know is you must no longer deny the Trinity. Oneness falsely believe that there is only Jesus who manifests Himself to be God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. Oneness believe He can be one at a time, but He cannot be all at once. You must deny this immediately. Also, God speak to your heart. Do not follow the others in your church. Be a leader. Do not feel pressured to speak gibberish or nonsense. I used to close my eyes and ignore others who were falling on the ground and acting foolishly. You are not alone and as an adult you can follow your heart as God directs your soul to a new denomination.
Keep reading the Bible, if you have parked at this conclusion then obviously it means you haven’t read the wider biblical context surrounding “tongues”. Read the entire book of acts and also read 1 Corinthians 12-14. The Bible speaks of different types of “tongues” or “languages ; a “language” or “tongue” within the biblical text does not just refer to human language or speech but also “spiritual languages” which you will see in the biblical references I provided.
My pastor had a moment at a conference where he spoke in tongues. No idea what he said or what language but after God told him it was Spanish. Then another pastor in front of him turned back and thanked him for the encouragement of the words he spoke. When the Holy Spirit moves just like back then as God has not changed His ways from then. For anyone who hasn’t heard His voice or spoken in tongues, keep praying the Lord will give you your time. Love all friends, for God love the least. God bless all.
It's actually scary how many people don't know or don't care to change their interpretations all you have to do is go read the scripture with a fresh start and it makes itself very clear what it's talking about it's not some unknown language
“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.” 1 Corinthians 14:2, 9 KJV
I think the problem is that most people, especially in the US, only speak English. As a Pentecostal you can easily tell when someone is faking it or if someone is actually speaking in tongues. There is always a rhythm to it that sounds like actual languages. Heck, my aunt went on a missions trip and heard people speaking in tongues but in English.
I was invited to a pentecostal service, and nothing of the holy spirit comes across as so terrifying. They put themselves in a trance with loud music and just allow anything to come through
The Bible literally says that speaking in tongues is not for man, it for God. It doesn’t have to make sense to you! And as a Pentecostal, the music is loud to let the Lord hear us rejoice so that He knows who His children are. If you see people in a trance, it is because they are moved by the spirit of God. You are talking blasphemy, simply because you don’t understand🤷🏽♀️
@@Kenya-gb4spit also says to allow just a couple people to speak in tongues, and if nobody is there to interpret, they should be silent. When they are in a trance, it looks VERY demonic. And as for loud music, we have never had electronics to amplify the music before a hundred years ago or so. Before that, "loud" meant something much quieter.
100% agree, but also have read reports of people speaking in what they thought was their native tongue, but their friends heard a language unknown. And the hearers understood
@@abhabh6896yeah but notice he said the hearers understood. There are so many languages in the world and prayer languages. I just wouldn't be so comfortable to judge. Also, unless you have experienced it before then you would not understand. I have experienced it before but not anymore. It lasted like a few months or less, I don't remember. I would say that I know it can be real and some may not but who knows. It can be different languages or it may be a spiritual one but who knows. It's best to remain silent on the matter and let God be true but everyman a liar. Also, tongues for me was not controlled by me. It was times where I started in English and ended up praying In tongues. I seriously never tried to and sometimes praying in church I had to stop and then continue because of tongues. It glorified God. Finally, I promise 😂😂. I was not a pentecostal. Baptist and non-denominational and currently I'm Catholic. ❤🙏
Glossolalia is the name of the phenomenon, and it’s not remotely real language. Linguists have studied it and determined that glossolalia is a mere stream of imitative syllables that builds on reiteration of phonemes and has no structural coherence conveying any meaning whatsoever. Pentecostals are merely harnessing their musical abilities and they exert strong social pressure on each other to do likewise. There is no Christian purpose to glossolalia. It’s not language, it’s noise.
Just because linguists say that it's one thing, doesn't by itself mean that the Pentecostalists are wrong in their assertion that it's a "divine language" or "language of angels". What makes it heavily suspect is that there's no such report in historical record prior to the Pentecostalist movement itself. The few times there's mention of an exercise of the gift of tongues from the first century to the 20th (that I'm aware of), it's always been about human languages. Even the first Pentecostalists sought the gift of speaking in diverse _human_ languages, and only after some time did the doctrine definitively become "speaking in the language of angels". It's only been in the past couple years that I've begun to heard that it's to prevent the interception of prayers by Satan (which calls into question why one would _ever_ pray in a human language, and why this gift is not considered mandatory for regular Christian function). In general, there's not much consistency between the different expoundings of the doctrine of the gift of tongues among Pentecostalists and Charismatics.
I received the spirit of God at the age of 23. For more than two hours God allowed me to speak in fluent tongues and to feel like I had entered into heaven. The most beautiful experience I ever had. It is not how the speaker speaks but how the heater hears. There are two different tongues. One when you receive his spirit as evidence he came into your life snd the second is the gift of tongues Paul Spoke about in Corinthians. One , two or ,three will speak out loud in a service and Paul said that in order and then God allows someone to interpret what was said in the language everyone understand. That is a message from God . But anyone who does not have this will try to explain it away. Just like this guy did.
And this little clip of this video, it seemed to you were speaking about how the orthodox prayer bypasses the brain and go straight to the heart and you were about to say something along the lines of it, speaking in tongues bypass. The brain goes right to the heart, but not in a good way, but then it cut it off I find that actually Spoken, because if you look at the modern day, Pentecostal movement or especially the assemblies of God movement is one of the biggest mission sending forces around the world to this day. They have circled the globe of the gospel, and there’s many faithful missionaries who are planning the church in close countries who depends on speaking in tongues to encourage at a fight and create a great boldness through the power of the Holy Spirit, and speaking in tongues, causes a great humilitywith a person who is serving in the mission field, so it’s a little glib to speak on things which you yourself may not have experienced, but then again, this is just a short, and I do not have the entire picture and I thought that that is the case for that I apologize publicly
Isnt it interesting that these people will fake the one most easy to fake? Where are there other miracles where is the healing? Where is the tongues being spoken to spread the gospel? Anyone can make up a language and lie unfortunately.
Anyone could but why would genuine believers who have the Holy Spirit try to lie? Also, I have been in spaces where I’ve seen the gift of tongues in action but also healing and so many more other miracles. These acts and gifts of the Spirit are still real to this day! The question is do you want to know God in that way? Do you want to be in tune in the Spirit this way? The apostles and the disciples of the early church did so why can’t we?
@Jc-hq2zb brother like I said the gift of tongues is easy to fake, anyone can say I saw it in action. You really wanna talk about what the apostles did? Do you worship like them and hold their beliefs I seriously doubt it. Additionally everyone says they have the holy spirit you say why would someone with the holy spirit do so.. right that's what I'm saying these people don't have the holy spirit and then fake miracles.
I’ve been in church with people and then speak in tongues they didn’t know and others know the language. This happens all the time but we aren’t Pentecostal. We are apostolic! Happens all the time in our over seas mission services. UPCI!
The glossolalia resurgence today started from very suspicious Methodist minister at the turn of the last century, which is more akin to a seance. Fr. Seraphim Rose condemns the practice outright in his book "Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future" Fr. Zacharias Zacharou is far more compassionate in "On Speaking in Tongues." From my time in Pentecostal Holiness churches and Assembly of God churches, I can tell you that the form of worship practiced there is a recipe for spiritual mania. 1 Corinthians 14:19-20 New King James Version (NKJV) yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue. Κύριε Ιησού Χριστέ ελέησόν μάς
One I've heard alot is basically "shandala hisa ta" over and over. Oddly, I've only heard it from folks from this region who have heard eachother do it, while tongue talkers from other areas have different noises.
Thank you for saying that last part. Because yes, I do understand other languages. I can speak in tongues and I can understand other people in other languages speaking their language and I can speak back and people understand me and it's only since I began speaking in tongues which was given to me but Jesus christ and god when I was pregnant with my first daughter who is now 5 years old❤❤❤❤
We are soo taught to tune ourselves to the majoritarian and popular views rather than scripture and what is right in the sight of God. Thanks for drawing me back in this matter.
1 Corinthians 14:2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit
Speaking in tongues while knowing the presence of The Holy Ghost is my prayer from my heart and my thoughts are directed to pray for needs of others or problem solving with my steps directed. When done I know that I know how to act or move on a certain point. Such as praying for a person I forgotten that needs me to call them…. or continue to say a rosary for them, keep them in my thoughts. Not my reason but God’s.
People seem to think there's only one type of tongues... Pastor David Diga explains it in a video. He spoke about 3 different types of tongues. I was gifted with it too when I was really young. Every time I spoke it or whenever I read the bible and prayed I could feel this cool breeze. It's amazing how the Holy Spirit works. His presence is just strong.
@@sugarfly456 ok, your experience is your experience) but in the Bible "tongue" is different language, its a gift from God that you can speak or understand other people , and its make sense ! That why Christianity grew throughout the Roman Empire!
The Lord is the same yesterday, today And forever...Being to legalistic make it hard to see the creator....he still is on the move and can transend languages. The more you spend time with him the greater the ability will grow...

Prior to 1870s. The methodist movement started that interpretation of tongues. The “babbling”. Daniel parham or panham began the Pentecostal church i believe in 1901 or 1907 of i remember correctly. Adopting that interpretation. He helped spearhead the “charismatic” movement. The first Pentecostal church still exist today. Even today, when i visit family in greece and turkey. They think the Pentecostal “babbling” is insane. Everyone knows. Tongues was the languages of the peoples who did not know the gospel. Paul and peter were perfect examples. Being able to speak all the semitic and turkic languages of the tribes they came across. Orthodoxy has always taught that since Christ founded our church.
Hello, I'm a member of a Southern Baptist church and we had a mission trip to Guatemala a year ago. One of our students had a gospel conversation with a family and they didn't speak much english, but our student had a quick prayer and began speaking fluent spanish despite hardly ever studying it. So yes, tongues can happen, but it seems to be rare.
This happened to me one time. I don’t speak or understand German. But for some reason a while back, a German video came on RUclips and somehow I knew every word. It was only for that moment. Sometimes I understand people with different languages. But it’s only for a moment in time and not ever lasting. I honestly haven’t been able to learn other languages besides Spanish for anything.
Ive been to a Pentecostal church years ago and a non-denominational church that as well. Just sounded like baby babel to me. They tried getting me to do it and i knew immediately both times it was a scam.
It can be known or one to/from God thst isnt known. Usually the one from God is prophetic and someone has to discern its interpretation. Sometimes the person speaking can interpret or you have to hope someone else at that time can interpret. The Bible does mention both kinds.
Do not miss this hidden gem here: 1 Corinthians 13 1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels Then, probably for the onlookers: Now: The Spirit decides as he gives utterance
I think there are two types of speaking tongue. The first one is, when you speak an already existing language, although you don't speak ist. That's between man and man. (e.g. to evangelize) The other one is basically between you and God. You usually don't even know what you were prying for, it's the Holy Spirit who's praying instead of you. But there are people who have the gift/ability to translate even these non-existing languages. There are many testimonies about this, it's amazing. So I think both of these cases the Holy Spirit is working through us and our tongue to help us pray.
The purpose of speaking in tounges is that the prayers are from the Holy Spirit, which is the most powerful prayer, also it only happens when tge holy spirit is active.
In the words of our LORD Jesus Christ, " .... These signs shall follow them that BELIEVE.... In My Name.... They shall speak with new tongues...." Mark 16:17
Fr James!!! ❤ I’ve heard one example of an orthodox man who spoke Chinese and went into an Orthodox Church and they were blaspheming Christ and His holy mother in Chinese, he decided it wasn’t a good church.
Tongues on the day of Pentecost was a language meaning others understood that they were not per say Greek but were speaking Greek. In the other hand there’s also tongues that edify us that no one can understand only God. Paul says he spoke in these tongues but would rather speak words that everyone can understand.
I know of a pastor who was speaking in tongues there were 2 Jews that were sitting in the back of the church and at the end of service they came to the pastor and said “we really enjoyed hearing you pray in the Hebrew language”. This man is from Louisiana doesn’t know Hebrew lol I think it takes a foolish person to make a blanket statement the way this man did.
There was a Jewish man who attended a pentecostal service, and someone prayed in tongues in perfect hebrew. He understood the prayer . Of greater concern is that we have love. Even if we speak with tongues of men and angels, it is far more important that we have love. Our lives as Christians are about being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. The outpouring at the day of Pentecost has never stopped.
Now I don't know if it's tongues for me. But my language is usually broken, tears flowing, and I start with a frown that turns into a smile ear to ear. Because I frown, a realization of what I am, and the smile is the realization of what God is. But I'm usually overwhelmed and that's why the tears. For what I say, it's usually calling God "Dad" plus prayers, in that state I let it all out. Praying for friends and enemies alike, sinners and saints, begging for intervention in the world, bringing people into the fold. That sort of thing. Is it tongues, I don't think so, maybe just heartfelt prayer.
I’ve been trying to explain this to a buddy of mine, but he insists it’s a genuine reaction to the spirit. But at best I think it’s just an explosion of passion from the spirit and not actual communication.
Hey man. A lot of the tongues today don’t resemble anything from ancient times, especially those pastors that like to fake praying and tongues. A lot of them are from Africa, I’m pretty sure there’s some in America that also fake tongues. And it’s blast me the Holy Spirit when you do that! I believe. I’m pretty sure it is, yeah, it’s a fact that it is. Because you’re mocking the holy Spirit, something you should not do. I’m guilty of doing it not by on purpose, but on accident, sometimes I repeat something I hear and it’s funny, but really I shouldn’t be repeating it because they’re faking tongues and that’s blast me the holy spirit. Which is an unforgivable sin! Thank you for exposing this. Keep sharing videos for the glory to God, and I pray God give people real tongues from the actual Pentecost in ax of the apostles! I love you and so is Jesus, glory to God, keep sharing for his name. God bless
And as for some much needed clarification that those don’t think about… You could be preaching or evangelizing in English or (insert mono-linguistic, native tongue here), and for someone to hear it in their own language. That’s not speaking in tongues as many think.
God translated the heavenly language of tongues those tongues to a language that every person could und rstand and it wasA miracle bc they were all hearing it at the same time in their own language, and you cant speak multiple languages simultaneously but god can speak to them individually and translate that heavenly tongues into mutliple languages all at once.

Got you bro! Open up that heart and ask the Holy Spirit to enter.
I feel the same, I'll pray for you ana please pray for me also

@@TheRealMonniewe are talking about two different things.
Peter on Pentecost spoke with a miracle voice that was heard by multiple people in their own “heart” language. This means Peter spoke in one language that the Holy Spirit then allowed all those listening to interpret in their own language. Peter didn’t speak in ten languages at once. Peter likely spoke with his “heart” language (the first language he learned as a child), but was heard in the languages of the hearers.
The speaking in tongues during prayer, praying the mysteries of heaven as stated in First Corinthians chapter 14.
Demonic

Thank God.

Get on you face on the ground, and scream, "Lord santify me! Please!" It's an interesting road after that, but we have to reach for the Lord fervently.
Me too I agree
You can’t “interpret” strings of nonsense SHAMALA HAMALA syllables. Whether an “interpreter” is there or not it’s all gibberish.
I was at home and it felt like someone pouring warm
Oil slowly over my forehead and I was covered in goosebumps. So mighty!
Amen.
And Hallelujah!

Had a dream 3/91.

Praying in tongues: A spiritual language spoken from man’s spirit to God’s spirit (Mark 16:17, 1 Cor. 14:2-4, 18-19)
Prophesying in tongues: An utterance of the Holy Spirit spoken through man and interpreted by another in the room (Acts 19:6, 1 Cor. 14:27-28)

I as a Baptist agree with my Orthodox brother . Tongues meant speaking a language that could be understood
So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.”
1 Corinthians 14:2, 9 KJV
I think the problem is that most people, especially in the US, only speak English. As a Pentecostal you can easily tell when someone is faking it or if someone is actually speaking in tongues. There is always a rhythm to it that sounds like actual languages. Heck, my aunt went on a missions trip and heard people speaking in tongues but in English.
I was invited to a pentecostal service, and nothing of the holy spirit comes across as so terrifying. They put themselves in a trance with loud music and just allow anything to come through
Theyre making it up, and im saying this as an orthodox christian.
@@Kenya-gb4sp did you not listen to what the priest says? If nobody understands you, that's not the Holy Spirit.
@@Kenya-gb4sp so god can only hear loud music? It’s okay to like to turn up and stop pretending it’s for god.
That is what I’ve always thought. Thank you for explaining it.
Spot on I am glad you said this
100% agree, but also have read reports of people speaking in what they thought was their native tongue, but their friends heard a language unknown. And the hearers understood
if they speak truth then we must know which language it is... it must be an existing language, not gibberish....
@@seg162 they have no root and nothing they teach is reliable.
I received the spirit of God at the age of 23. For more than two hours God allowed me to speak in fluent tongues and to feel like I had entered into heaven. The most beautiful experience I ever had. It is not how the speaker speaks but how the heater hears.
There are two different tongues. One when you receive his spirit as evidence he came into your life snd the second is the gift of tongues Paul
Spoke about in Corinthians. One , two or ,three will speak out loud in a service and Paul said that in order and then God allows someone to interpret what was said in the language everyone understand. That is a message from God . But anyone who does not have this will try to explain it away. Just like this guy did.
Speaking in tongues is a Gift From The Precious Holy Spirit Of Truth And Of Love And Of Grace Who Is God And Who Is Rest Giving

UPCI!
I once went to church that spoke tongues. I legit heard one dude say "yaba daba doo"
SERIOUSLY?!
The glossolalia resurgence today started from very suspicious Methodist minister at the turn of the last century, which is more akin to a seance.
Fr. Seraphim Rose condemns the practice outright in his book "Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future"
Fr. Zacharias Zacharou is far more compassionate in "On Speaking in Tongues."
From my time in Pentecostal Holiness churches and Assembly of God churches, I can tell you that the form of worship practiced there is a recipe for spiritual mania.
1 Corinthians 14:19-20 New King James Version (NKJV)
yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.
Κύριε Ιησού Χριστέ ελέησόν μάς
I visited a charismatic church and had a man repeating “Boom Chakalaka, boom chakalaka…” until he went into full on gibberish.
Not very charasmatic more like coo coo. That's what we call Satan in the church
One I've heard alot is basically "shandala hisa ta" over and over. Oddly, I've only heard it from folks from this region who have heard eachother do it, while tongue talkers from other areas have different noises.
@@burninsherman1037 yeah. While I'm still unsure about it all totally, I know factually at least 80% are faking it out of social pressure
You are very wrong. !!! Ask the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 14:2
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit
We‘ve seen this argument many times. Stop coping, prots are not speaking in tongues. They are only making a mockery out of it.
You need to read all chapter ! And you see not only 14:2 ,all chapter 14
The Lord is the same yesterday, today
And forever...Being to legalistic make it hard to see the creator....he still is on the move and can transend languages. The more you spend time with him the greater the ability will grow...
Full link to the video please. He’s has insight on this topic that could be helpful with our understanding of the spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit.
I don’t think he has any insight. He wasn’t there.
@@maryvandeusen5554 he wasn’t referring to the first century church but the modern church. Did you listen to what he was saying?
My pastor went to India and was speaking in tongues. The people understood everything she was saying.
Orthodox W here
Orthodoxy never misses
Let me guess, there is zero proof of this happening?
The devil can do that!
Don’t mean to say it’s God that gave the language.
If the captions were on, I'm going to be very disappointed.
Ive been to a Pentecostal church years ago and a non-denominational church that as well. Just sounded like baby babel to me. They tried getting me to do it and i knew immediately both times it was a scam.
Yes! This is exactly what I have thought also. When people say that they can speak in tongues and then start babbling, I cringe internally.
My mother spoke in toungs and ONE other lady understood what she was saying.
👍HE IS 100% TRUE I COME FROM A PENTACOSTAL BELIEF
Yes, speaking in tongues was a term for speaking another known language.
That's exactly what I always thought.
It can be known or one to/from God thst isnt known. Usually the one from God is prophetic and someone has to discern its interpretation. Sometimes the person speaking can interpret or you have to hope someone else at that time can interpret. The Bible does mention both kinds.
Do not miss this hidden gem here:
1 Corinthians 13 1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels
Then, probably for the onlookers:
Now:
The Spirit decides as he gives utterance
The nonchalant acknowledgement of the event, if it were to happen, reveals everything about what he understands of Almighty God.
God is good 🙌♥️
I think there are two types of speaking tongue.
They shall speak with new tongues...."
Mark 16:17
you flow it out, and sometimes it just comes out as another language sometimes it’s like gibberish, God is with you either way
Fr James!!! ❤
I’ve heard one example of an orthodox man who spoke Chinese and went into an Orthodox Church and they were blaspheming Christ and His holy mother in Chinese, he decided it wasn’t a good church.
Exactly. Tongues wasn’t special because nobody not the chosen understood it…it was special because everyone understood it…wolves are among us
Tongues on the day of Pentecost was a language meaning others understood that they were not per say Greek but were speaking Greek.
This man is from Louisiana doesn’t know Hebrew lol
I think it takes a foolish person to make a blanket statement the way this man did.
@@tediperez7846 Amen!
This man provided zero exegetical foundation on tongues, it was just opinion.
Bro just said that the Bible lied?
I can speak gibberish pretty convincingly, I want to go to one of these and fake a scene just to freak out the entire church.
I’ve been trying to explain this to a buddy of mine, but he insists it’s a genuine reaction to the spirit. But at best I think it’s just an explosion of passion from the spirit and not actual communication.
Thank you thank you. Agree 1000000%
God bless
And as for some much needed clarification that those don’t think about…
You could be preaching or evangelizing in English or (insert mono-linguistic, native tongue here), and for someone to hear it in their own language.
That’s not speaking in tongues as many think.
While isolated in jail, “I pray in tongues more than you all…”
This definition is an addition to biblical tongues.
This is very true. When the tongue is given by the Holy Spirit to be spoken to the audience, the Lord always provided an interpreter.
I believe he is correct.
Man puts limits on the ALMIGHTY GOD. The God I serve Jesus Christ has no limits he is limitless.❤
I speak in tounges and its so powerful that less than 4 people have heard it in 30 years. Its extremely...yeh just dont worry about it.
good thing there is also the tongues referenced in corinthians
Thank you for this channel
I would argue that the ones what understood got the spiritual gifts of interpretation because the ones who believed are the ones who understood.
Aw I'd debate him on that. The gift of tongues is a two-fold tongue gift. 1cor 14 breaks this down. Re- read it tons
Never seen a hipster Ravi? Pastor? Father? Before. But his message was clear and logical. Well done
