The sweet cake story of Ptolemy the little witch. The mother of Bubble Bobble, the father would be Chack N Pop. Great game, but takes some strategy in some of the levels to not get stuck in a hole too deep to get out. If you have 1 enemy left, eventually it will disappear should you get stuck. Or if not, only death from the Time Up Devil will get you out of that hole, but you also lose a life in the process. It's on Taito Legends 2 and one PS2 Taito Memories collection, so I have the game three times (Taito Legends 2 PC as well being counted).
@Bloodreign1, there is also an MSX port as well, but it is MUCH more difficult than the arcade/PS2/OG Xbox/PS4/Switch/PSP/mobile ports of the game. The Round 12 in that game is a fucking troll level that makes even Battletoads/Dark Souls/Demon's Souls look easy in comparison.
Fun fact: apparently the staff at Taito were actually *against* the idea of putting an ending in the game, but the head developer put one in anyways because that’s what he had insisted on doing. Weird to consider that there was once a time when having endings in arcade video games was considered abnormal.
Considering the game really has no story, I can almost understand the lack of an ending. But for the few who actually endured those 101 levels, they probably deserved something!
As of December 3rd, 2020. The Fairyland Story is now available for the Sony PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch as part of the Arcade Archives series by Hamster Corporation
42:00 IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THAT Ok so you need to be right next to the step and then, without holding the joystick, press jump and then immediately press the direction towards the step and *_THEN_* PTOLEMY CLIMBS UP THE STEP RATHER THAN JUMP THE NORMAL HEIGHT AND NOT GO THROUGH WHAT THE HECK TAITO
The staff at Taito were actually against the game having an ending, believe it or not. The lead developer simply put one in anyway. The unreleased NES port actually lacks an ending or a boss fight and just loops after level 50, possibly due to the developers seemingly being against originality.
@@leroyvisiongames2294 the loop is what I would've thought would happen personally. I almost would want it to loop because games like that usually do, but an actual ending isn't so bad.
42:01 I can't make that jump! I had to give up on level 95. I'm just gonna watch this video so I can see the end of the game. I really enjoyed this game overall! Shame I couldn't finish it but eh. Still cool gaming experience
It's not so bad when you work out how to jump. The immediate temptation is to do running jumps but that's not best cause in this game running gives you no extra momentum. What you do is very slowly getting as close to the edge as you can. Then when you feel you can't go any further or you will fall off.. press jump and the direction at the same time. And you will make the jump. If you don't do that and try running jumps yes it's freaking annoying! Cause you gotta get it perfect
@Simon0 the game finished 100% last year and I know how to beat the level. It is about to beat levels 92 to 94 there's something you have to do in this Levels to beat level 95 . Please search in web about level 95 in this game for more Info.
@@raybinzay1913 thanks! I'm not playing through again I just watched this video so I can see the end of the game! Nice little game but a couple of annoying parts! Thanks anyway
The animation is so smooth in this game. Especially the swooping down on the broom.

Anything with "Fairy" in the title gets the approval from me.

thankyou thankyou thankyou! You're the best
Lol I just gave up at that exact part. I'm not going back through the whole game now so I just watch this video to see the ending 🙂
The red potion turns Ptolemy into an invincible MOUSE. Not even kidding.
I rarely found this game in arcades but it was worth it back in the day.
😏Sweet.
Looks cute,fun and nice.
@2:27 The dragon is flying, but has absolutely NO wings. I just had to point that out.
EDIT: So it does have an ending. Not bad.
As if the Engrish wasn't already enough XD
Brooms also have no wings.

Hey, @World of Longplays, when are you ever going to cover the MSX port of this game? Literally no one has a walkthrough for the game right now.
OMG it's Loo-kee!!!
38:01 Stage 91 was a pain in the Rs. All that precision platforming. One mistake and you have to start over 🤬. Still a good game, though 🙃.

My thoughts exactly

The small jumps in the game specially level 95 is damn hard and bad
