@@designbuildandfix Would you please help me a little more?
I don't understand the total span. Is it the length of the house or width of the house or the biggest porch of the building?

@@MinerNetwork Hi. If you want the ridge to run left to right then the span is front to back outside to outside and if you want the ridge to run front to back then the span is left to right outside to outside. You can include the porch if you want the roof to run in same direction as the rest of the house. Otherwise the porch would be a reverse gable and not be included. Then you would have to calculate the span of the porch separately from the rest of the house. Hope I answered your question!

when I resize imported dwg file, I got error message says 'component withint the model that were loaded from external files will not be resized!' , how to resolve it? Also how to align the house wall in the imported drawing with the axis? Thank you so much

I am not sure how to fix this. I never copy a drawing from a dwg file. I always draw all my houses in AutoCad first and then draw it in Sketchup. It gives me the opportunity to really look at the design and dimensions to make sure it is what I want. This is well worth the time invested. It will also help if you are going to build it yourself. My latest design build is a lake house tear down and rebuild. I drew it first in AutoCad and then in Sketchup. This helped because it was a difficult design and build so far. I only have 2 videos out but it does show the design in Sketchup. Here is the link to the series. ruclips.net/video/sUn_gg8y5U0/видео.html Sorry, I did not answer your question.

Thank you for replying, liked your video. Also what is the purpose to drew in AutoCAD first, then move it to sketch up? Was it because AutoCAD can not complete your task? In which way?
