      India should go for a larger order of Su 57 and convert AMCA into a Sixth Generation Fighter Aircraft, focusing on Adaptive Cycle Engines and AI based and network centric Warfare with each AMCA being optionally manned and capable of commanding drones and loyal wingman. We can't be lagging behind in technology.

    Is the Su-57 a viable option for the IAF? What is its success rate and maintenance record? Will the IAF be able to avoid the sanctions and delays in aircraft from Russia? There has already been several delays in other Ground, Naval and Air procurement. Can it be made available faster than the Rafale platforms?

    • @SomeGuy-yb3sl
      @SomeGuy-yb3sl 4 дня назад +4

      Yes indian pilots know how to fly heavy jets. Succes rate can be seen in both syria and ukraine. We can say su57 is the only 5th gen jet which is battle tested. New Al51 engine has highesr service hours in the world and is fully FADEC technology, so NO issue in maintainence. Su57 delivery for russia will be over in 2028 after which 14 su57 will be delivered to algeria and then india so delivery can begin late 2028, earlier than rafale. So yes a viable choice

    After pulling out of the FGFA programme with Russia we are now back to evaluating the same jet as a stop gap solution. Imagine if India had remained invested in FGFA then we would have had a large number of Su57s and Pakistan wouldn't even be thinking of taking on IAF. Instead we opted out of it and continued debating on which jet to buy under MRFA as we have been doing for more than 2 decades.

    I understand some opinions that Varying the fighter jet can be a good thing rather than over reliance on Russian makes, as China has Russian make jets to understand their working and plan upon their weaknesses. But in short term till we can get our own AMCA up in the air, we can mitigate Risk factors with SU-57s. Moreover its The Indian way that any jet that has entered our service has been tuned upgraded and modeled to work best for our forces and I remember reading a report that states SU 30MKI is the most versatile version of SU 30's. If we can Indianize the SU-57, the pilots not only get the necessary knowledge and skillsets but also can adress the shortcomings and challenges faced, and as these can be avoided or solved in AMCA. Basically SU 57 can act as a force Equalizer and training bed for our AIR FORCE.🙏🙏🙏

    If we are looking for 5th gen jet which mostly will impact AMCA, we should evaluate Su 57 vs F35 and pick the winner. If not we need to stick to Rafale or Typhoon with ToT which will fasten AMCA timeline as well.
    If we want 5th gen only and F35 is not available, Su 57 is the only choice. It has following challenges,
    1. With US sanctions it will be difficult to procure these jets. We have to work with US to get exception. Not sure whether US will allow that.
    2. Russia is struggling to produce Su 57 in decent numbers, so it may affect delivery timeline for India. Local assembly can help, but i doubt whether Russia will do any meaningful ToT.
    3. Chinese equipment in Su 57 is a threat. China who is our enemy is known for adding bugging device. So in the time of war, there is possibility of sabotage. So it is strictly no. Can Russia replace Chinese equipment is big question as it depends China more than any time earlier
    if we can bypass this challenges and F35 is not available and satisfied with Su 57, we should scrap MRFA and go with Su 57 in higher numbers. There is no point in adding one more jet with smaller quantity which will make it logistics nightmare.

    SU-57 and RAFALE F4 both are very good excellence. SU-57 better in engine, range and stealth and RAFALE F4 better in avionics, agility and upgradability. IAF needs to set their buying parameters right before acquiring SU-57 instead of RAFALE F4. The government might not spend more in 4-5 years if SU-57 are acquired instead of RAFALE F4. Acquiring any jets now might see no other jet deal in at least 4-5 years, just maybe engine deals only, so decision remains on IAF's necessity.
