Everyone always says Vance & Hines is expensive exhaust but go compare it to Two Brothers and get back to me, V&H is actually very competitive price and the quality/look is SOOOO much better than Two Brothers if you ask me but what do I know, im just another dude on the internet.
haven't even watch the whole video yet but you are right, that exhaust kicks ass! I love your tires too....might make mine look weird but I have a few unique features on my sportster that may not fit that style.....so that means....that is right, I need another Sportster now to have those tires.
Forward controls, straight pipes, air intake and power commander, or resetting if carbureted, do the Sporster 883's a big service. Easily an additional 10hp, minimum.
I am upgrading the pipes, air cleaner, and a fp3 tuner for performance first. Then working on the rest. My view is getting the performance first. Then the comfort accessories, the asthetics. Just my priorities.
Kind of depends on how old the bike is. Forward controls and LED turn signals that were relocated made a huge difference. Next up is a 1275 hammer kit, new carb, and 2-1 exhaust.
You can only customize a Harley so much BUT you can customize a Sportster 500 different ways and each time it looks badass(I personally own a 2005,883 with a stage 111,which it’s now a 1200,with V&H short shot)
Just ordered forward controls, cause I have long legs, but I'm a bit jealous of those big foot pegs. If I really have to stomp on the pegs and stand up those look like a nice solid platform.
Dan! I own a 2009 Nightster. Also, I am in the middle of applying for Police departments while I go back to get my EMT cert. (just graduated with a CJ major). Anyway.... What are your thoughts on Tank Lifts? I got a 3.5 inch lift on my tank.
Hey young Brutha. I was shocked to find out your list didn't include anything to help the overall performance of the Lil Harley like cams upgrades that drastically improve performance and are actually pretty easy to install even for techno geeks that really have no mechanical experience...
Great video sir! And yeah i can cosign on the RSD Track 2-to-1 exhaust. I have one on my 2016 883 and i was able to install passenger pegs as well with no modification what so ever. I do suggest longer passenger pegs tho because your passengers foot sits really close to the exhaust. Either that or try to put extensions on the brackets itself. Ride on brotha!
It's summer in Texas, I've been riding my 883 in sun and rain to work for the last few weeks, I usually just wipe the seat down with a towel and park it in the shop to make sure I don't damage my seat lol
Very well put together video. I'm trading into an 883 that's been bore to 1200. First time I've ridden a bike in about 32 years. Anyway, it's had the bars replaced and some other work. But I'll have it redone. How are things holding up? Great video. I look forward to seeing more.
Dan not really on the subject of upgrading but I've tried researching this and can't figure it out. I got me a 2006 883 Sportster about two months ago. I got it second hand. It came with a smaller key. The owners had no idea what it was for. It does have the Harley emblem in it. It's not to lock to handle bars. I thought maybe it was for the seat but don't see any key holes. Do you happen to have any idea what these would be for? I'm thinking whomever had it originally maybe had bags on it? Also I've looked at pics and my seat looks factory but it is a pain in the ass to check the oil. I have to hold the seat with my thumb as much as I can just to get to it. Any advice? I'd love to put a one seater on it but don't understand why the seat is bolted all the way around. Maybe I'm used to my late dad's bike where the seat was on a Hing?
It is likely for the steering lock. If the same as my 2018 sporty, the lock is on the right side of the head tube. If not that, then it probably used to have a locking gas cap.
Great vlog. I have a 2016 Sportster Roadster and I am ready to upgrade my exhaust. I have a V&H fuel pack to flash the software. I want to increase the performance, but because of where I live I don't want it to be too loud, although I do want a nice tone. Also, because this is my only means of transportation, I have saddle bags. Lastly I like to ride on the passenger pegs, so I cannot remove them. Any thoughts? Thanks.
hbc37 Vance and Hines has multiple options. You looking at slips ons or full exhaust? They also offer quite baffles for most of there exhausts. Twin slash slip on have a nice sound and the short shots are a very popular option but be aware they are loud even with the quite baffles.
Looking at the 1200 custom as my first bike. A six foot two 200 lb Rider so I wouldn't go anything less than a 1200. I'm single no mortgage or house payment so I really could care less about the cost of upgrades. The benefit of being a over-the-road trucker. I would want to keep it looking more like a traditional Sportster or cruiser any suggestions on upgrades would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Michael McLeod a 1200 as a first bike isn't the best idea. I'm 6'7 250ish and is looking at a 600 for my first bike. I recommend going to more place, Reddit, FB groups, motoamino. Those communities are very helpful.
Sportsters are very docile and slow out of the box. You'll be fine. Visit the xlforum which is by far the best Sportster resource for any level of info you want.
I haven't press play on the video yet but if you say anything to do with wire tuck or tankleff or DK Customs you don't know what you're talkin about disqualify
to each their own! IMO yer exhaust looks dumb as hell! My XL1200C has a kick start addition and these exhausts won't allow for that! Plus those who buy Sportsters already pretty much know what they want!
Everyone always says Vance & Hines is expensive exhaust but go compare it to Two Brothers and get back to me, V&H is actually very competitive price and the quality/look is SOOOO much better than Two Brothers if you ask me but what do I know, im just another dude on the internet.
Got my V&H slippys from a dude on facebook. 200 miles on them. Thats it. Paid 150.00. Worth 2x that

Some great ideas there. I like the high level exhaust as I used to drag mine on tricky corners sometimes.

Jeff Tilghman why buy a Harley then want more power?
@@johnengland8619 exactly. first you go for comfort so you can enjoy riding even more
Kind of depends on how old the bike is. Forward controls and LED turn signals that were relocated made a huge difference. Next up is a 1275 hammer kit, new carb, and 2-1 exhaust.
Don't forget to install single fire magneto , heads and manifold to hammer perf. For port match and valve relief. Mild cam to keep the torque up.

I really like the seat, the pipes, and the pegs.
First time seeing your videos since I got my new 48. Love the style of your bike and you do a great job giving info. Got a new sub here
Nathaniel Simmons 48 is a great bike congrats
Hey brother this video was great. And you narrated it perfectly! Good job!
Forwards, LED'S, V&H slip ons, daymaker, shorty front fender, powder coated wheels, new carb, and the list goes on
I have a 80 sportster with a 74 superglide front end that has been sitting for 12 years and is finally going to get restored

I like how the pegs you have have a bottle opener built in 🤣🤣
Old video I know but is that rear pulley stock? Looks good

Thank you so much!! I just got my sportser 48 special! And man those upgrades sounds exactly what I was looking for!! 🐺👍i really appreciate it!
I swear you were getting pulled over around 4:30. Lol anyways. What kind of camera setup do you have on your bike? How do you link the audio? Thanks!
Nice video Dan!
Nice ride. Good information. Thanks
I have the black ops version of those grips and I love them 👍
What are your handlebars?
How many have geared up and went riding in the rain?
It's summer in Texas, I've been riding my 883 in sun and rain to work for the last few weeks, I usually just wipe the seat down with a towel and park it in the shop to make sure I don't damage my seat lol
How about forward controls and handlebars.

Why cant i find a video on changing these old sporsters to look like a 48 with the fat wheels?
What helmet is that. Thanks
What helmet are you wearing in the video
First things first. Get yourself an engine guard first than anything because you drop your bike and it's back to square one without the guard
i got screaming eagle on mine it looks good
What kinda helmet you wearing?
Thought you were going to talk about engine mods.
good tips there dan!👍😎

What about older sportsters?
Thanks man
Beware: no mod goes unpunished.
Is this an 883?
I haven't press play on the video yet but if you say anything to do with wire tuck or tankleff or DK Customs you don't know what you're talkin about disqualify
The ole support sticker
Bonita moto
always need to have engine guard
By the thumbnail I thought this would be a pre 2001 sportster.
How can I reduce the weight on my Sportster 883?
Take out the motor. It will reduce the weight significantly.
Always fill the gas tank half way.
U getting paid huh bro mentioned every name to the t no style but brand sweet ride reguaudless
crap hawker...
