    Remember that your locations aren't restricted by where an outlet sits. Extension cords are cheap.
    That crack doesn't matter. Get a horse stall mat or two and it'll cover everything and double as soft flooring.

    Mel, yesterday an older video of yours from 2 years ago popped up and I watched. You were still in the shed and had room to spare. You had a viewer write and ask what your plan was when you out grew the shed. Your reply was that you didn’t ever see yourself outgrowing the shed. That you had about 3000 listings and that was plenty and you could do that much easily in that space and that you didn’t think you could handle doing more listing than that. I had to laugh. Look at you now!!! Funny how life takes us places we never imagined! Look at the people fate has brought into your life that helped you get where you are today. You are a true success story and an inspiration and I’m loving watching it all unfold!!!❤

      Crazy hey! I still go up and down with thoughts on how much I want to grow the store. I have the potential to grow it big but I don’t actually feel that’s what I want. Im trying to work out why I don’t feel that’s what I want and making sure it’s not fear based.

    I think you could get a thick mat to stand on so you could cover the gap and it would help fatigue. I like where you are putting the photo bench and the packing bench. Tom’s advice on how to work smarter, makes lots of sense. It’s hard to change a process, but if the new way ends up saving you time and energy, you won’t want to go back to the old way! You are doing an amazing job!

    Mel you are amazing. I have to say I do agree with Thom in that your workflow should kind of go around in a circle. Books coming in, sorted, photographed, shelved, picked, packed and out the door. It will just make it so much easier for you in the long run. That being said it has to make sense to your brain and habits too. I know you will nail it and fine tune it as you go. LOVE watching all of the progress that you make each day!

You may now be overloaded with tips and ideas, but I would still like to tell you that you should not make the main path to your office too narrow. Certainly not if there are also tables along the wall. Thom indicated to attach 2 more shelving units to your current shelving unit, but I think that will be too narrow for you and you will regret it. I think that the way you laid out your plates yesterday or the day before (so 1 double rack and then a head rack) is much better to walk through. In any case, good luck in the coming days and for what it's worth, I'm proud of you.

I would have pulled the packing station out from the wall and used the space behind it for storing the extra boxes of shipping mailers. They are after all going to have to be stored someplace and what better place than where they will be used. There are battery operated postal scales as well as usb ones that you can use a small portable hand held charger power bank with since you wouldn’t need to use it that often. First and most importantly, I love your channel and your content! You are so motivating and inspirational!
    I have two burning questions that has been bugging me since the first video. Why don't you either put wheels on the shelves to make them easier to move around. And also, why not cover the existing shelves with sarran wrap or paper and move the shelves with a forklift. I'm sure it's too late now as the move is probably complete. But I was hoping you'd find an easier faster way than moving each book one at a time. Sending you hugs from Michigan, USA!

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  2 часа назад

      The shelves don’t have space at the bottom to get the forklift underneath them to lift them so that’s not an option sadly.
      Wheels or dollys would be good would all have to be custom built to do it.

    • @missrosierenee
      @missrosierenee 11 минут назад

      I have the same shelves and even if you were able to get a forklift under you’d just end up pulling all the shelves off. They’re only attached with downward pressure, if you lift the shelves from the bottom they all pop out of the frame. There’s also not really any way to attach wheels.

    What is the point of the office, and your comments the other day of working in there and being able to stay warm if all your work space is out in the storage area out in the elements? I do everything at one desk, in on 5x5ft area. I know it sucks having the office in the back, but if you do not maximize it early on, it will just end up turning into a storage closet for supplies and or dead product...your bulk packing supplies should go up on the top of the office to get out of the way. And all the shelves should be aligned for ease of access from where you sort and then store, and where you pick and pack, so that your just walking in and out smoothly. And ensure you leave some space for pallets to be brought right in the front. That would be my recommendation. And I am currently running more product out of 20x5 area than you are. So you have so much space, I could have a billion in inventory in a year. Great work, keep up the grind, you got this!

      I think the point of having a warm space is so she will have a place to get warm lol.

      The office is where her computer will be. That’s where she will do her listings, labels, paperwork, etc. it’s way too small for a proper photograph table and a packing station. Even if she could fit it in there comfortably why would she do that with all that space. I think her set up is perfect.

      @@megansuchy2339 I've been thinking the same thing and made a comment about it in an earlier video. Those boxes are so light that they could just be thrown up onto the roof, then use a simple ladder to go up onto the roof and stack them properly. When they're needed, then go up the ladder and drop the boxes onto the ground. They're not going to get damaged. There's no need to maneuver carrying them whilst on the ladder, so it's not too dangerous.

    Why aren’t you gonna work in the office so you can stay warm or cool?

    For the uneven floor, I would maybe get a rubber/stress reducing standing mat for that area and any place you’ll be standing for a long chunk of time like the photo area. Will help with lower back, leg, and foot stress as well from experience having them in retail.

    8 minutes in Mel, and my head is already exploding ! It's funny how easy it rolls off Thom's tongue ... 1 person here, 1 photographing, and you walking past ! At this rate... you'll need a BIGGER SHED Mel ! Please, please, please message me next time you move... I'll probably be near 70, but I have a tape measure and can help with the design before you start moving things. It's actually amusing watching this unfold ... "Mel's drowning in content" 🤣🤣 Love ya work Mel.

    Im so glad that you are wearing steel toed shoes. When you were working out of the home work space in flip-flop shoes, that was an accident waiting to happen!!!
    🎉 a celebration is just around the corner!

      I don’t think he was doing that at all. I asked for his advice and opinions. Thom is a great communicator (which is something I absolutely love about him) and he thinks very logically about things while I am very squirrel brained - especially when I am mentally exhausted and physically fatigued.

    Put your photo station and packing station on the wall in front of that room and all the books on the other side. You don't need the packing station in front of the door, just buy a bigger trolly to roll the books to the car

      But this is two different businesses. Thom seems to have sent his staff over for bits and pieces earlier. He is a great warehouse mentor with his experience .

      Yeah Thom has his own business to run and hundreds of orders being packed up daily and 8 staff to manage. He helps as much as he can when he can during weekdays and you will see in the next videos when he helped me on the weekend. :)

    The top of your little office is so perfect for all the Aus Post boxes. So jealous, mine currently dominate half my living room 😂
