I was a play tester on this and it is my favorite of all the unmatched that has been released. I had not seen the art but was hopeful to enjoy it... That bloody Mary deck is amazing!!! Not sure where zee is going to rate this but he better love it!!! 😂
12:30 I am not sure who is a fan of that "new look". It seemed difficult to play with in Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf, and we never gave it a second try. I feel like the two sides in volume 1 were interestingly different (not so much Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot). I wish they would bring that back and put an effort into having two different sides with fresh differences.
I’m only a few minutes in and Achilles looks super thematic. I may have to finally give this game a try. Would you recommend this set to a first time player?

It shouldn't matter too much, although the characters in this volume look more interesting than some of the ones in volume 1. Medusa is arguably the strongest character in the game, so I'd get volume 1 if that interests you. Otherwise I'd just get the set that has the most interesting-looking characters to you.

Question: How balanced are these "battle and then battle again" cards against the old characters who don't have them ? Let me just say that i don't have the game, so i might be missing a rule.
That's my biggest question. I actually just got my copy in yesterday, and will be playing this weekend. I am slightly worried that all of these characters will just steamroll most of the old ones. For each "double attack" card, they are potentially using two attacks with one card, and the defender will likely be burning two cards to defend. I don't see how A) They don't exhaust enemies super fast or B) If they don't defend, just stomp their health into the ground. And there's no interesting choice there really from the defender's standpoint. It's either lose two cards or lose a bunch of health, every time one of those cards is played, which doesn't seem fun in theory. And they each have three of these cards. Get double attacked, spend next turn running away and drawing cards. However it seems like the total numbers as far as potential damage in the decks still balances out? I probably won't remember but may come back and comment with how the matches go.
Got this preordered on Game Nerdz and can’t wait! Also, I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Marvel sets! Did Zee ever do a TARGET review of the Deadpool character? I have it, but was just curious as to what he thought of it.
@2:00 Clearly an example of improvement/enhancement that is super obvious and genius, yet people still can't appreciate. I think you can basically give this guy a board with just connect circles and color and is already enough for him.
I've actually shown the game to someone with the more artwork side and it was so hard to see which ones were in the same zone for them that I will never play it like that again. And they weren't even color blind. The full color circles are the most clear and definitely best for color blind individuals.
Great seeing it close up and getting some info! I only have the Raptors/jurassic park one, I'll probably pick up the Marvel ones but these characters don't do it for me, besides Achilles that is. Would be cool to play Achilles vs Medusa - ancient greek style.

Honestly I don't know what you could be missing... I loved the game since my first try, and it was also cobble and fog... I guess it can take a little more for some people to enjoy the game. Or it can never become a good experience for you. I would say to give it a little chance and maybe try playing with every character from that set, multiple times, before deciding you don't like the game! Hope it gets better!! Cheers

I want this just for the Bloody Mary character to play with Cobble & Fog, but some of the other characters are really interesting.
You'd think with Mondo's licenses you'd be able to get a Freddy vs Jason vs Leatherface vs Chucky set.
I believe the Pathfinder system as used originally in Tannhauser, had the colours on the rims of the circles instead of colouring the entire circle.
I wonder how bloody Mary will go up against the invisible man?

The best into set is Little Red vs. Beowulf. No question. It's basically the tutorial to the full experience, but still offers fun stuff.

I know it's been 2 years and you likely won't read this, but a Bruce Lee and Muhammed Ali Duel Set comes out next year.

Wow. The height bonus iconography is really bad. It just should have been a triangle arrow from the circle that gives a bonus.
Unmatched used something very similar to that in the Jurassic Park map to indicate one way routes.

I would also try playing with multiple different characters if you haven’t, all of them have very different play styles.
You could try playing against different players.
