When I came to the Lord I started going to an AOG church and over the years have been going off and on, with other churches being visited in between. Years ago the AOG taught about repentance, closeness with the Lord etc. These days, very little is taught about repentance or holiness. Also the AOG had an air of superiority, i.e. was better than other churches, which upset me no end. I have been to a number of "traditional" churches in between which I found more "humble" than the AOG. However the AOG beliefs, i.e. sanctity of marriage, anti-abortion etc I strongly agree to whereas the traditional churches seem to have lost their moral compass and too many compromises with the world are occurring.
You'll find the superiority complex in any denomination. I attended an AOG church for 16 years. And everyone tried to make new people feel welcomed to the congregation and to the church. Meanwhile, for a time in 2012 I attended a Methodist church that my cousin is the pastor of. I attended because my grandmother was dying, and that was the church she attended. So to maximize time with her, we went to her church. And every service we could feel the judgement of others. And we weren't the only ones to pick up on it. The first service following my grandmothers death; my cousin made a statement to his congregation about how even he felt that we were being judged for not being Methodists. In 2014 I moved states, and there is only one AOG church in the area. I attended a few sermons. But they never really put the effort out to make us feel welcomed. It was like a "hi welcome" and then never acknowledge the existence of again. So I stopped going. After that, I went to "the church" in the area that basically everyone who's name is known around here goes to. It's a Baptist church, and didn't have really any problems with it. The people were warmer than the local AOG church. Actually, one of the first things anyone there said to me was an invitation to their Bible Study. I went for a couple of months. But something kept saying to me in the back of my head "This isn't where you're supposed to be." So again, I went "church shopping." Have attended about half the churches in my area regardless of denomination over the course of about 5 years. Then I went to one. And the first sermon I attended that voice that kept going "This isn't where you're supposed to be" said "This is where you're supposed to be." Have been there since. And I can tell you, over that 5 year search, about 1/4 of the churches I attended had that same superiority complex. Some I only attended one sermon because I could see everyone looking at me and feeling the overbearing amount of silent judgement. And it was more or less evenly split between "traditional" and "modern" churches where I felt that. It also didn't matter the denomination. The church I now attend is officially "nondenominational." But if you walked in not knowing that you'd claim they were a Baptist church (which they basically are). And, even though that's the church I now attend. I still identify as a Pentecostal. And still attend the AOG church I attended for so long when I go visit family there.
@@ReinSouls I agree with you, every church is different and some are more dedicated to God than others, if someone judges a church solely on fact that another church of the same domination had an attitude problem, they may be missing out. I find myself going to AoG churches mostly and I have seen massive differences between them. The one that I am going to now is very friendly and interest in helping people with their walk in God. But others I have gone to in the past have been hit-or-miss.
@WarmPotato It depends on which ones. There are very devout and Cod fearing Catholics and very secular ones. I am not Catholic but I have met deeply committed Catholics who love God and Catholics in name only who just go to church to perform a cultural ritual. To their credit there are no Catholic churches marrying gay couples and none which accept abortion as a woman's right. Liberal Protestant denominations have caved to these matters, but the Catholic church has not.
I'm part of an AG church, however the confirmation by tongues (although possible) is not taught as we do not see that in scripture (to my knowledge). Also, the strictness on alcohol in my experience is aimed at ministers / pastors as response to the importance of those roles; not a mark or need of salvation. I really enjoy this channel, it brings me some real understanding on other brothers and sisters of the faith.
@@Chase21W Yes, restrictions on alcohol is a more dated teaching thatis only more prevalent among smaller, more mature congregations. The same with tongues. Most AG ministers I know assert that it is more important to seek Christ rather than a sign of the Holy Spirit. Tongues is seen as a possible sign but not required to be filled with the Spirit.
I am AG Minister and one of the 16 fundamental trutjs of the AOG is tongues being initial evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit. It is a must if you are Baptized in the spirit, but of course separate from salvation
@@itsnotthatbadguysmtgedh9332 could you explain 1 Corinthians 12 please? It says we are all baptized in the same spirit yet in the spirit we are all different when it comes to gifts. @@Chase21W great question what it comes down is the difference between the gift of tongues, and the initial evidence of the baptism of the Spirit. They are the same in essence but different in purpose and use. I speak in tongues for personal edification I do not have the gift of tongues for edfication of others. Some call it prayer language, but essentially that is the difference in tongues as the AOG officially sees it
I'm a minister in the Church of God. I have passed my test to become an Ordained Bishop and will be recognized next month and it will become official. The Church of God does and at the same time does not allow the ordination of women. Many chaplain programs require someone to be "Ordained" in order to be a chaplain. In light of this, a few years ago, the ministerial ranks where changed to exhorter, Ordained ministers, and then Ordained Bishop. Women can be Ordained ministers, however cannot be Ordained Bishops. This has been a topic of debate for years however, and a topic of discussion for this year's general assembly will one again be women in ministry and their role therein.
So I have heard bill Johnson(bethel) Phil Robertson(duck dynasty) Alexander pagani( Alexander pagani ministries) come from the Assemblies of God background but I’m not sure if they still agree 100 percent with them anymore. One would think that it would be common sense to be united. But sometimes stubborn belief in even one difference can outweigh common sense. It is sadly the state of sinful nature to hold nonessential belief as though they were essential for the faith and become the obstacle from achieving unity. But at least these denoms are united through other means and organizations without feeling as though their belief system is being changed or diluted from even the most minor differences.
Just to clarify: The AOG has three "levels" of ministers as well. Certified, Licensed & Ordained. The distinction between each level is education and time spent in ministry. I was ordained, but left the AOG shortly after.

The Assemblies of God 's official position on alcohol is that the Bible does not prohibit it, but there is no reason to partake. Alcohol is allowed for the congregation, but if you want to become a minister, you sign an agreement saying you will not drink. Also, the AG has only one title for ministers, but 3 different levels: Certified, Licensed, and Ordained.

This position should be proclaimed boldly and clearly throughout our Fellowship, yet humbly and lovingly in faithful ministry to all." Here's the official position: ag.org/Beliefs/Position-Papers/Abstinence-from-Alcohol
It is disputed what the second work sanctification experience really means. Second grace means baptism with the holy spirit that happens in an instant, rather than the process of sanctification that leads to christian perfection. I assume you mean that the teachings of Church of God defines the process of sanctification as the “second-work sanctification” as opposed to the instant sanctification by the other 2 denominations.

Great video! In practice, there are a large growing number of AG churches that believe baptism of the Holy Spirit is not always accompanied by speaking in tongues but more in the "sometimes" category. So on paper, it is "required". But in practice, with a large number of individual churches, speaking in tongues is "sometimes" present. More of a shift in the past 10 years.
I’m not sure about the overall beliefs of the organization but from the two churches I’ve been in: one was church of God, the other AG - both taught that in baptism(a symbol that we are born again in spirit and we are now following in the tradition to be baptized) there is no requirement for speaking in tongues. This is a gift of God and if it does happen then it happens. Hope this answered your question, if you have any more just let me know.
@@Chase21W I'm asking from an AG/CG perspective. I'm not talking about water baptism. They say that water baptism and Spirit baptism are different things. @@n40798I understand, well from the two churches I’ve been in one AG and one COG they don’t require proof of tongues or any proof. They would never turn someone away and speaking in tongues has been a sad rule put in place by man just like so many other rules Christ died for our sins, admitting your a sinner and in need of a savior would be a first step. Accepting Christ as that savior and believing in Him as the Son of God, dying on a cross for your sin would be the second, and believing He rose again and now sits at the right hand of the Father would be third. Now we go turn from that Sin and we are a new creation/born again in spirit/heirs with Christ. Then last he said Go and make disciples and always be ready for my return. I think that covers it….
1 Corinthians 12 explains baptism of the spirit pretty well! Speaking in tongues is a gift that some have and others do not. There are many other gifts as well and the great thing is we are all in one spirit having different gifts making the “body of Christ” (that’s believers) complete.

Jesus in his Humanity is recognizing that God the Father is His God, while also knowing that in His Divinity He and the Father are One. This is clearly understood if one believes that Jesus is fully God and fully Man.
@WarmPotato yes, typically those who believe in the dual nature of Jesus Christ would be Trinitarian, but belief in the dual nature of Jesus Christ is not exclusive to them.
You will have to do a bit of research, especially when jesus talks about how they have recieved his word etc. But he is emphasising to mary that he is about to go up to be approved by God and how that it is the same God. If you go back to the old testament, the high priest did the same thing as he walked to the holy of holies and sprinkled the blood on the mercy seat of the ark. No one could touch him before he did this as it would make him unclean and he would probably die if he tried to go in after being touched. Leviticus 16:10-18.

Church of God and assemblies of God have been heavily considering merging. Their doctrines are so close, I wouldn't be surprised if we all come together soon
The split between Assemblies of God and Church of God was over sanctification one held progressive while the other held instantaneous when it is actualy both and not one or the other. As for the gifts of the Spirit there are 9 in all, i have seen tongues a lot my pastor bluts out in tongues just about every service, i have seen interpretation once in a blue moon, as for the others they are lacking. So the one gift that id hard to judge is the one some do a lot, but those gifts that you would know instantly are real are extreamly lacking being pretty much non existent
The holy spirit lives in us. Sanctification is done by the holy spirit through our cooperation, faithfulness, after receiving Jesus as Lord and savior. Supernatural empowerment by the holy spirit who is our teacher.

95% correct but I imagine the things I see as wrong in the A/G are because they can withdraw and the congregation owns the property. I think for this reason each church has a little bit more freedom on beliefs as long as they are not too out of scope. In the 70's the A/G owned the property but that has changed since then. The A/G is moving more to a sanctification is a process that comes through a relationship with Christ whereas the old saying is Saved, Sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. My personal belief is James 4:8-10 "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double-minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." All of the sanctification in this scripture comes after he says Draw near to God, AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU. It is with Christ's help we obtain sanctification. This is an absolutely phenomenal presentation that taught me a lot.

@꧁.꧂ Son of Man 333 ꧁_꧂ it’s close, he may also be going off the majority I’m not sure. For example my church is AG and they don’t speak about tongues being a requirement in baptism of the Holy Spirit
@꧁.꧂ Son of Man 333 ꧁_꧂ I agree I do not like we have split into all of these denominations
@꧁.꧂ Son of Man 333 ꧁_꧂ you should have kept going in the scripture that’s the important part…
““The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice.”
Matthew 23:2-3
@꧁.꧂ Son of Man 333 ꧁_꧂ thank you for the Word, but why did you send me these? I didn’t know if you were trying to make a point or just sending me encouragement. Thanks friend

That would be a sweet set up.

Glad I found this. Was saved and discipled in the first, preached in the second, and currently in the third.😊 All good, sound denominations.
Could you do a comparison video? Pentecostal, Baptist and Lutheran?
love your videos! could you do one about sedevacantist catholics?
Thank you for fulfilling my request❤️
I went to AOG for 20 years of my life until I recently just switched over to Church of God, I love it! People are way more humbler.
The church of pergamos, Rev 2:12. The compromised church. Married to the world.
Very good presentation. Thank you.
Yes, same in our group as well!
It says “Do all speak with tongues?” Implying that this is a gift of the spirit for some and not others…. If you could explain that, thank you!
Could you make a video of the Jesus Is Lord Church and the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ Fourthwatch?
Thank you so much.
So I have heard bill Johnson(bethel) Phil Robertson(duck dynasty) Alexander pagani( Alexander pagani ministries) come from the Assemblies of God background but I’m not sure if they still agree 100 percent with them anymore. For the other three here what big names come from the church of God and the four square church?
Could you make a video about the fundamentalist baptist churches ?

Not definable.
William Seymour was influenced by The Evening Light Saints (Church of God, Indiana) and said he was sanctified before he was led to meet Charles Parham who proclaimed the 3rd work of Grace
Great job as always!
always grand fun to see various Christians going after each other in their need to claim that only their version is true, when none of them have any evidence of that at all.

Not original at all. But quite true.
@@velkyn1 he's quoting a stand-up comedian. Brian Regan, if I recall correctly.
This is very interesting. The differences between the denominations are minor. Shouldn’t they combine together as one denomination?
One would think that it would be common sense to be united. But sometimes stubborn belief in even one difference can outweigh common sense. It is sadly the state of sinful nature to hold nonessential belief as though they were essential for the faith and become the obstacle from achieving unity. But at least these denoms are united through other means and organizations without feeling as though their belief system is being changed or diluted from even the most minor differences.
It wouldn’t matter if they did or not, it’s not about which religion is right it’s about the personal relationship with the father.
Steve Cedeno; They will all unite shortly under the Pope's One World Religion. Most of them have no problem with the RCC church.
It is not a minor difference between infant head wetting and believer's full immersion when discussing baptism.
Just to clarify:
The AOG has three "levels" of ministers as well. Certified, Licensed & Ordained. The distinction between each level is education and time spent in ministry. I was ordained, but left the AOG shortly after.
This channel is awesome
Very well done, thank you.
Beautiful factual and to the point! Great job!

Praise God the only denomination that preaches the truth!
Our church was the same as UPC but in Spanish Apostolic we somehow fellowship with AOG occasionally and with paw people
Deuteronomy 6:4 - "The Lord our God is One." A UPC pastor told us "I'm a father, I'm a son and I'm a husband, yet I I'm only one man." He stated God was not a "committee". Never forgot that and find it hard to consider the Trinitarian Godhead.
Can you make a video on the International Christian Church. ICC or ICCOC
@Ready to Harvest: Will you explain why Church of God is different from the Church of God of Prophecy?
My church was the Assemblies of God then Influencers now it's changed again to Futures church can you tell me what their new symbol means and what do they preach now?? We also have a new Symbol for our church I'm not sure what it means. Can you tell me .if I send it to you??

If I was a Pentecostal (I'm Reformed) I think I would be part of the Foursquare denom. They take a more rational position to Spirit Baptism, use of Alcohol, and their form of polity.
There is a small calvinist movement in the AG.
@@angelbonilla4243 do you think it might cause a rift in the denom if Calvinism becomes more influential?

@Gabriel B Millen is this leniency because of pressures in the church to accommodate people or is this due to an actual conscious conviction that they're beliefs are unnecessarily too stringent?
@Gabriel B Millen Christians don't babble and flop about. Demoniacs do.
Excellent summary
Is it true that Assemblies of God believe that there should be only one church per city? (And perhaps with several campuses.) I find this interesting and unique.
Yes that was a written expectation. In order to not have two "competing" congregations within one city. However, it's often, not practiced very much a in a day of church planting and multi-site extensions of the nearest megachurch.
One correction. I have been COG for 35 years, and we do believe that the earth was literally created by God in 6 days and on the 7th day, He rested.
Actually Sis. Moss, what he said in the video was correct. I agree that the majority of CoG folk are Young Earth Creationists, it is not required in the Minuites or questioned by credentialing boards. I know that some of the Lee and Seminary faculty don't hold that view.
Which is way better among the three? Is there anyone who can respond to this question? I'd prefer a pastor who had been in one and then shifted to another one of them?
Wow, I did not know this. Where are these numbers when we vote?
AG does have feet washing services - we just had one at our AG in Indiana 2 weeks ago.
AG churches may choose to have feet washing (or not), but it is not viewed as an ordinance like the Lord's Supper and Baptism are.
@@ReadyToHarvest got it - thanks!
You did not specify WHICH Church of God denomination you discussed. I know of at least 3, but I believe there are more. There is one headquartered in Cleveland TN. There is another whose offices are in Findlay OH. The third is in another Midwestern state, but I forget.

The AG position on alcohol is "Therefore the Assemblies of God reaffirms its position of abstinence from alcoholic beverages. This position should be proclaimed boldly and clearly throughout our Fellowship, yet humbly and lovingly in faithful ministry to all."
Here's the official position: ag.org/Beliefs/Position-Papers/Abstinence-from-Alcohol
Your statement about the alcohol is incorrect. The position of the AG, is against their members consuming alcohol.
Why are a lot of Assemblies of God churches changing their names?
The reason many are changing name is generally a function of "marketing", where it is seen as advantageous to not directly say one is AOG.
I love Foursquare church and family
Thanx, Pastor 🌹🌹🌹
Consider the three branches of the Restoration Movement for a comparison
It is disputed what the second work sanctification experience really means. Second grace means baptism with the holy spirit that happens in an instant, rather than the process of sanctification that leads to christian perfection. I assume you mean that the teachings of Church of God defines the process of sanctification as the “second-work sanctification” as opposed to the instant sanctification by the other 2 denominations.
Acts 1:8 is the record of Jesus telling His disciples the physical evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit.

1:52 Do AG and CG believe that the Holy Spirit will not baptize an organic mute since there would be no evidence?
They would never turn someone away and speaking in tongues has been a sad rule put in place by man just like so many other rules
Christ died for our sins, admitting your a sinner and in need of a savior would be a first step.
That is a great question. I am an AOG Pastor I have honestly never considered this question. I am going to talk with my mentors and get you an answet
1 Corinthians 12 explains baptism of the spirit pretty well! Speaking in tongues is a gift that some have and others do not. There are many other gifts as well and the great thing is we are all in one spirit having different gifts making the “body of Christ” (that’s believers) complete.

how about the GAP theory vs 6 day creation ???
I was raised in what is today an extremely liberal Lutheran Church which was part of the ALC then and the ELCA now. I became a Born Again Christian in high school after hearing a non Lutheran speak at a high school weekend retreat.
While in the Navy and in college the local Lutheran Churches didn't want me to attend as a single Sailor or a single college student. I ran into the Assemblies of God in San Diego while in the Navy. The Assemblies of God taught the GAP Theory, which I accepted for a long time. My study of Science eventually convinced me that the GAP Theory is incorrect and Young Earth Creation is the correct view as taught in the Bible and that agrees with Observational Science.

You forgot 1 key difference concerning the doctrine of marriage young Man. The Church Of God holds to the biblical doctrine of fornication being the only reason a person can divorce and remarry. While the other 2 take the position of marital unfaithfulness being a legitimate reason to divorce and then consequently remarry.
How do you explain John 20:17? "I have not yet ascended to your God and MY God..."
Look up Joel Hemphill "I was Wrong"

This is the best explanation of Sanctification that I’ve ever heard. It’s both!
The holy spirit lives in us. Sanctification is done by the holy spirit through our cooperation, faithfulness, after receiving Jesus as Lord and savior. Supernatural empowerment by the holy spirit who is our teacher.
Why is AG in the wesleyan holiness connection if they deny the entire sanctification??
My theological questions are getting so niche not even Google can help me, man
Yeah, they are a bit of an outlier in there. But Grace Communion International is also part and that's unusual too. The answer is probably something like "WHC doesn't tend to turn down applications from denominations that apply to join, even if they don't completely align theologically."
