Wow, I did something like this in 1991, using a bag of water, mounted flash light, window in a box and a long strip of my notebook pages with drawing. Cool stuff, I'll do it again with kids from my local school here in Nigeria.

Back in 2004, I had made it as a science project in a competition in my school when I WAS IN 5th GRADE. My design was different. I had used a cardboard box, a convex lense, a 1m film (reel), a light bulb and some alumunium foil. It was a great success. My parents, my every teacher had praised and appreciated it. Though my older brother gave me the idea ;) Unfortunately I left that school (as well as the city) before the results were announced in the Annual function, which were to be held 2 months after the final examinations. My bad luck!

Simplified version of this:
Get a bulb or clear bottle, pour water inside as it creates a magnifying glass-like effect. Get a torchlight. Balance the torchlight and let it face the bulb/bottle at a close distance and use a thick material to prevent the light from the torch from escaping into the background before it hits the bulb/bottle.
Whatever image is between the bulb and the light gets projected unto a surface adjacent to the light source.
Voilla.

Good effort .I tried some what similar experiment during my childhood(in my 8 th standard) . I used bulb like this but instead of torch light i used sunlight reflection from outside
