    They should be retired. They should spend their golden years relaxing, taking up hobbies, and traveling. Not raising their grandkids. Babysitting once in a while, sure. My sister and I spent a couple of weekends at my grandparent's, for fun. They'd take us to the wild animal park. Watch movies, and eat pizza. It was AWESOME!!! And then we would get picked up on Sunday. Still some of my greatest memories. Point is that my parents never took advantage over them.

    • @janetmalcolm6191
      @janetmalcolm6191 3 месяца назад +1

      Yes going to grandparents having a good time then being given back is one thing but many expect their kids to be looked after while they work or even 24/7. Don't know when this idea started but it seems a mostly modern idea. Like" I need time for me." Well don't have children then! Children usually take up most of your time it takes that to raise them properly.

  • @happyinparis
    @happyinparis 6 месяцев назад +27

    I'm a 65 year old grandparent raising my 2 grandchildren. I've had them full-time since they were 1 and 2 years old. They are now 8 and 9. My husband died 4 years ago. I pay for everything including medical insurance. I wouldn't trade my grandchildren for anything. Still, I did want to be grandma and not mom. My daughter stole my retirement and plans to go visit Scotland with friends. I'll be raising children until I'm 85. I think my daughter is very self-centered. The kids are better off with me. These selfish, entitled mothers are disgusting to me.

    • @janetmalcolm6191

Also, you need to pay closer attention to what you read ...it does not say that it is a reenactment of real cases it says that it is actors and that it is based on cases that can be seen in court (in other words they are not based on actual, specific cases but on things that might be or is seen in child support courts...they are completely made up but are based on things that might be seen in a court...thats a huge difference in saying it is based on actual cases) and:

    My husband and I are raising our granddaughter due to addiction. We had to step in when she was 8mo she is now 11yrs old. Both parents are not capable...whats sad is at anytime these " so called parents" can walk into court at anytime and say Im better now and I want visitation they waive all their rehab papers everytime their guilt hits them and know how to play the courts the only one who suffers is the child. We waited on asking for child support until our granddaughter was 2 in half, we thought they needed time to straighten themselves out. Like I said our granddaughter is now 11yrs old. Nothing has changed both parents are to wrapped up in their addiction and mental illness. We are so proud of our granddaughter she is a beautiful, smart, loving young lady. The day will come for her parents they wont have to explain to the courts or to us but they will have to explain it to her. They are the ones missing out . This woman isnt a mother mother's dont abandon their children she isnt worthy of that title.

      That's awesome that you stepped in to help out however if its their kid and the judge says it then they should at least be allowed to see their kid/get visitation! It's not even like you are saying they are trying to take her back but just get visitation. You as the grandmother should want to facilitate that but instead you are just in here talking about how bad your kid is and what a great job you have done. You raised your daughter/son, right? What did that say about you that you raised someone who doesn't even take responsibility for their own child?
      You think they chose mental illness or that is their fault? Shame on you

      @PrimateProductions You have not a clue as to what my husband and I have done to foster a healthy relationship between our son and his daughter and with her mother. We spent years trying to help them bond with their daughter and they continuously let her down. What it's says about how we parented our children? You have NO CLUE! We did raise our children and were there for them. As far as Mental illness I agree nobody asks for that. Drug addiction though some consider it a disease when they chose to do drugs that is on THEM they chose to do the drugs. So you are saying that EVERY PERSON who does drugs does them because of how they were raised? That's a load of BS. They chose to do it because they wanted to. How about take ACCOUNTABILITY? I know that's a foreign concept to the younger generation these days. You don't have any idea what we tried to do to help the both of them. The bottom line is they are selfish and need to take a long look in the mirror. Do you know how many times we have heard " I don't want to take my medication I don't like they way it makes me feel" We tried helping to find a med the mother would take. Hours days months years spent on trying to help them bond with their child!And rehab after rehab! At the end of the day it's ALL ABOUT THEM! Their problems ALL CREATED BY THEM AND THEIR CHOICE TO USE! You clearly don't know what it's like to watch a child that has CONSTANTLY BEEN LET DOWN BY HER PARENTS. But in typical fashion you are so quick to play this blame game . No parent is perfect but I can tell you we did the best we could my husband worked 80 plus hrs a week and coached our son in every sport we volunteered at the school and so much more. Today's kids are all about their " TRAUMA " We are done after 10 yrs of this the help is gone after they abandoned her according to the laws of our state. They don't owe us ANYTHING! They will have to answer to their daughter someday... Until then we will continue to advocate for our granddaughter and be there for her reassure her that her parents do love her so she doesn't grow up thinking it was something she did! And yes lucky for them we are raising her to be forgiving and to have compassion for others. At some point they will have to decide if they are sick of living the way they live. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. At some point instead of playing the victim they need to take ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR LIFE CHOICES! It's always so much easier to blame someone else and point the finger rather than to accept their the ones responsible for where they are in life. I wouldn't wish addiction on any person or family it's devastating. But don't presume you know about how or why someone does drugs there are many reasons why someone opts to do them and not every one who does comes from bad people you really don't have a clue.

She comes to me one day literally crying her eyes out asking if I can watch my great niece for a while until she was able to get out of that situation. I told her she did not even have to ask, and I would be more than happy to take care of her, so for the first almost two years of my great niece's life I was her sole caregiver. Now my niece is 3 years away from that ass and my great niece is now 6 years old and top of her class, so smart she was even able to skip Kindergarten. My niece says it's because of how I raised her when she was still an infant/toddler and I had to correct her and tell her that it was because she gave my great niece a hero to look up to in her that made the biggest difference.

    Older judge shows the litigants were not actors but the actual people in the lawsuits. But this show and all the more modern judge shows all use actors so it's hard to take it seriously. How do I know they are paid actors ? Simple, in one of the cases the defendant was so over the top he put both feet on the table and lit up either a cigare or a cigarette in court. The cases I'm sure are real, but the people we see just play the case up for TV ratings or youtube views depending on where they are.
    The most ridiculous one I've seen, I forget what the name was but they claim to have the biggest lawsuits ever on TV. Judge is a black man with a bowtie. A dude in a neckbrace was suing a woman who lightly tapped his mini bus in a parking lot for 500k and acted like she snapped his neck. All the while she kept saying as a single mother she shouldn't be held responsible for it, that as a single mother she was a good person but yet kept hurling insults and interrupting the procedures. Twas the fakest thing I had ever seen.
