  • In May 2021 we flew to Las Vegas and began a 14-day tenting adventure all through the Grand Circle National Parks with our then 1, 4, & 6 year old.
We rented a car from Fox rental car in las vegas, checked our car seats for free on the place, and also checked all our camping gear (list below).
Our first stop after getting out of the car was to Red Rock Canyon, just a short 30 minute ride from the airport. We stayed over a friend’s house in Vegas for the first two nights, then headed to the Grand Canyons.
We camped out at Mothers Campground, bought groceries from the National Park Supermarket and made breakfast over a fire. We then rented bicycles and toured the Grand Canyons via bike.
Next we drove to Mesa Verde, Colorado. Mesa Verde turned out to be our coldest night, I think it dropped down to 30 degrees.
Next stop was Moab Utah where we camped out at the First Come First Serve Sand Flats. We spent two wonderful days there, visiting Arches and Canyonlands National Park before we headed to Goblin Valley State Park.
Right outside Goblin Valley was Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon, our first Slot Canyon of what turned out to be many because they were so much fun with the kids.
The next campground was our first state forest campground at Single Tree in Dixie National Forest. Definitely not as popular as the National park campgrounds so we were able to secure a reservation pretty easily. Single Tree Campground is very close to Capitol Reef National Park.
Kodachrome State Park came next, then we went to Bryce Canyon National Park. Bryce was also first come first serve, I went early in the morning and was able to secure a spot easily. Keep in mind though this was a Monday and in May, peak summer season on a weekend would probably be very tough.
Our last national park which we really enjoyed and loved was Zion National Park. We took the kids into the Narrows and went pretty far into it before turning around. I ended up getting up early and doing Angels Landing myself, it was too crowded to do with young kids in my opinion.
