    I love my Mantus M1 it's awesome. CQR is not really an anchor its a plow hoping for the best.

    • @TwotheHorizonSailing
      @TwotheHorizonSailing  3 года назад

      Their anchors are so great, we had the M1 on our previous boat. Yes, the CQR is barely considered an anchor. The originals owners of our boat said they thought about replacing it many time just never ended up getting around to it! We were so glad to see it go 👍👋

      @@TwotheHorizonSailing My boat came with a CQR stern anchor. The first time I used It I dropped it in mud and pulled it 50 metres by hand all the way back to the boat through the mud without it setting. Its never been in my boat since. I use a Fortress as a stern anchor now.

      @TwotheHorizonSailing  3 года назад +1

      Uhg that sounds miserable! We love our fortress stern anchor, especially since it’s light weight but still grabs really well!

    Hy guys, what is your power windlass?

    • @TwotheHorizonSailing
      @TwotheHorizonSailing  2 года назад

      We have a Lofrans Tigres windlass. It’s been such a great upgrade.

    Hey guys, how is it going with the M2, still happy? I'm in the market for a similar size anchor and have narrowed it down to the Rocna and M2. How snug is it on your bow, it looks as though it might bounce?

    • @TwotheHorizonSailing
      @TwotheHorizonSailing  2 года назад

      We still love our M2. We haven’t had any trouble setting it and have never drug anchor with it. It fits snug, we use the windlass to get it up to the roller and then do the last 3-4 cranks by hand to make sure it’s sitting where we want it. Don’t have anything bad to say about it!
      Hope this helps.
      Not trying to sway your decision but if you do choose to go with Mantus, but if you shop with this link:

      It gives us a tiny percentage (no extra cost to you) which is one of the many ways we continue to cruise.
      Also, Mantus is having a 20% off sale right now for Easter.. The discount code is: mes2022 I believe (it pops up when you click the link I included)

    Hello guys. I just got a new sailing boat and looking to get a new anchor and chain.
    I will be getting a mantus and will use the link in the notes!
    My question is about chain...... how much (in length) do you carry and is that enough?
    I’m in Channel Islands marina and will be sailing around the Islands too.
    All the best
    Richard

      Hi Richard, thanks for watching. We have 275’ of 5/16” chain and 130’ of rode. We have only ever gotten to use the end of our chain when we had to emergency anchor in deep water and we needed to ensure we didn’t drag. Most of the time we don’t come close to the end. What kind of boat do you have? Will your main destinations be the Channel Islands?

    • @SVZonda

      @@TwotheHorizonSailing thanks for the prompt reply!!
      Yes my main destination will be the Channel Islands for the next 6 years. Then I retire and then I’m off into the blue yonder!!
      My Boat is a Beneteau Oceanis 400

    Supposedly...(?) the "CQR" name is a "phonetic" spelling of the word "secure"...

    • @TwotheHorizonSailing
      @TwotheHorizonSailing  2 года назад

      Haha wow I didn’t know that! I wish it lived up to its name but in our experience it had a really hard time setting quickly in tight anchorages. The Mantus has been an incredible upgrade.
