  • Wanted to follow up my first video with this on - here I change the configuration of the assembly I'm looking at and see the instantaneous update in the Onshape Vision app. I should have brought some collaborators/friends to help me (next demo!?!) as it was hard to capture instant, smooth and natural way the updates occur.

If someone was developing something like, say, a carburetor, or throttle body, or other fluid flow control device, is there a way with vision to sort of visually 'walk through' the model so to speak? Could you follow the path of flow inside the model and see what the passageways look like?

While you cannoy create a path a priori and then fly down it, you can do a walk through by.... walking :) The trick is to make something like the carburetor really big (there's a gesture for scaling things up) and place it at eye level. After you fix the position/scale you are free to move about the model. I think I have a video of me walking around inside the Perrinn424 monocoque chassis, admiring the front anti-rollbar setup. Will link to it if I find it.

How about making an onshape Quest 3 app? You already have an Android version. It shouldn't be that much harder. Those Apple VPs are way too expensive.

Thanks for the comment. We are certainly working on many fronts, and have an incredibly deep bench of VR/AR/MR technology here at PTC that spans many product lines and includes many acquisitions. There's a photo of me somewhere demoing in DIVISION/MockUp way before RUclips even existed...

Yes the Geneva wheel is a bit challenging for our constraint/mate system currently. You need something that allows for lift-off between the wheel and cam. This is a nonlinear constraint which is outside of our current scope. Other than that, I hope you're enjoying Onshape!
