    Your pulling direction will still be the same regardless if it is a "Flatback" or contoured parting line. The only thing you need to check is if all your draft is positive on the part from which ever direction you will be pulling the mold. The only difference between a flatback and contoured parting line is the pattern or mold has to be manufactured a bit differently.
    Search "matchplate pattern" that is they type of pattern you will need to make your castings if you are looking for green sand.

    Hello~
    Thanks your clear presentation about Parting line.
    However, do you have any complex example to demo the curved part.
    I have a sample has the irregular parting line such as stair type. I use PRO/E.
    Do you have any suggestion about the better 3D cad?
    Or do you know where I can find out more assistance online to know the irregular type example?
