This brought back memories for me, especially of Hinckley ( 3 miles form where I live ) and seeing photos of Tommy, Gloria and their son, Chris Grant. I even saw an old Punting Pal in two photos from there. I had some great days dog racing. From Wembley with 'The Vikings' and Tony Morris making a book to Norton Canes with Tony Campbell and Emery being 'the enemy'... they all took money off me !! lol
we used to go to aldershot dog track, great days, my uncle owned liga lad who won the cesarewitch in 1982 trained by dave vass, my uncle retired him, and went flapping, he won by half the track over the distance, easy money great days
Great to see some old friends round the table, especially John and Maurice. Lovely to see that you are all ok, best wishes from Alan from Walthamstow (Huntingdon). PS Would like to get in touch with Freddie Wiseman if anyone can help
The Twins who went to my school sent my old Boxing coach Bobby Ramsey out to meet the Mafia. Bob who was a good pro fighter in his own right sadly passed away a few years ago but I still see his boys now and again.
Micky Douglas is different class know more about the inner workings of running dogs then any man I’ve met !!! And will go out he’s way to help a dog and see through to make sure the back on there toes ago and can ring the man for advise any time true gent !!!!
they talk about there big gambles on flapping tracks at coalville you would ask for a score at 2/1 and you would get from the bookie i will take a fiver at 2/1 and all the flapping tracks were like that and the dogs had a horrible life if they were no good our poorly trained, people stopped going to dogs after the villians were exposed and the cruelty that went on ,why glamourise a cruel so called sport, this is why tracks were shut CRUELTY
I would have thought that on-line betting, land values and considerable overheads were the main reasons for the decline in the number of tracks actually. If you owned land that was worth £10m to developers but you was earning only £5000 a week from it...... would you sell ???? Nothing to do with cruelty, in my opinion.
