So quick cut content. When Rudeus was declaring his oath to Ariel, Luke insults Rudeus for being a dense protagonist for not recognizing Sylphie. Rudeus admits how stupid he was and accepts it, but Slyphie cuts in, saying Luke's an asshole who plays with woman's feelings.
They go back and forth insulting each other until Ariel calms them down.
It's supposed to show us that that's just how they talk to each other and reafirm their friendship. Luke saying he feels no attraction to Slyphie is his way of saying she's his best friend XD.

Yes almost nothing in MT is for nothing. In well written stories almost nothing goes to waste it's not just a MT thing. Even though this series is clearly very well written. Technically the aphrodisiac you could argue already played some roles so it did not need to be a Chekhov's Gun but the best kind of writing has like echos. Something serves a purpose for the NOW and THEN also comes back ground again. And in many cases again further down the road each time being weaved more into plot or character growth. Everything builds on what has come before. It makes the world and characters feel real and it also means that like no line of dialogue or small element goes to waste.
You can also use this to analyze things. Since nothing is said for nothing. You could probably predict certain things with just about every line written in the story. lol You just need to ask yourself why did this happen? Or why was this said? It's almost always to establish something about the chars, world, plot etc.

@@MrArrmageddon I agree with you and they actually do have theories themselves in the first season that I liked that they had. Can't say more on that because spoilers. But I read the web novel and the only problem I had with information given I'm the story that was never used again was Rudy stating he would make a doll for Ghislaine. Because he makes dolls out of people he respects and She tells him it is a great art and hard for people to do. So all the time he spent on Roxys one was actual really valuable. Both with his sentimentality and the crafted itself. Most dolls in that world look like Totems. And don't have find details. So you can say he makes the first crosses or religious artifacts of that world. And he never really makes one for her in the web novel. But does for others. Which was really disappointing to me. Maybe they changed that in the light or maybe they will show that here. It really elevates the importance of the craft. But other then that most information is relevant later in the story. Even if it isn't a big impact to the story itself.

@@MrArrmageddon yeah sorry about that. It was kinda a minor detail that is stated earlier on in the series but doesn't go anywhere. So I figured it was something just forgotten. Ghislaine is my favorite character of the story but mostly because she probably gets the least development of the series. You would think a character that is introduced earlier on would get more love but that was the only thing I felt disappointed about the story. That doll not being made. Ruijerd deserves a doll of course but most places made it seem like Rudy went from making a Roxy doll to making a Ruijerd doll but he really tried his best at perfecting doll making. So it is something that takes time. But it isn't a big detail or something that is really focused on but it is used a lot. The number of dolls he makes I mean.

In his old life Rudy was a Hikikimori, or a "shut in".
    Wikipedia:
Hikikomori (Japanese: ひきこもり or 引きこもり, lit. "pulling inward, being confined"), also known as severe social withdrawal,[1][2][3][4][5] is total withdrawal from society and seeking extreme degrees of social isolation and confinement.[6] Hikikomori refers to both the phenomenon in general and the recluses themselves. The concept is primarily recognized only in Japan, although similar concepts exist in other languages and cultures. Hikikomori have been described as loners or "modern-day hermits".[7] Estimates suggest that half a million Japanese youths have become social recluses,[8] as well as more than half a million middle-aged individuals.[9]

      Remember Roxy's fantasy?
Oh, right, the anime left out the last clause of it.
      Whole text from the book:
She would somehow bump into someone who was tall, manly, and fashionably dressed - a young human man with a youthful appeal - in the depths of a labyrinth. Then the two of them would combine their strengths to escape, and in so doing, their love would bud and blossom. The youth would discover one of his friends had died, and Roxy would comfort him. That would be their first night together.
And Eris left to become stronger, with Ghyslaine as her guide. Who better to teach her than Ghyslaine's master?
The info I've dropped is within the anime's scope and the volumes the episodes are based on.

Great reaction! A bit of extra info (No spoilers, don't worry). Silphie mentions she attacked Paul when she learned that Rudeus was gone. In fact, she almost killed Paul (he survived thanks to having experience with chantless mages for all his training with Rudy). We never saw this bit in the anime so it was kind of a "surprise" when we saw how powerful she actually is during this season's episode 0.

Sylphie went ham on Paul and was a bit worried for a second. And kinda ashamed of Rudy for teaching her magic. Because Rudy isn't a parent but was always more mature then Paul. But at the same time because he is a kid he forgets details that an adult would try to convey to a kid when teaching them things. Rudy taught Sylphie without warning her about control. Which is what Paul tries to do with Rudy when he teaches him sword play.

@@JoseLopez-gi9sf Yes about the episode 0 cut content? I have some questions for you all. First of all I am not going to mention any spoilers. And please do the same. If your going to answer my question do it like how I did it. Don't provide any actual details. I do not think Alumnnia's comment is a spoiler as it's directly given by now in the LN. And likely won't be covered properly in the anime. So that's perfectly fine!
That's what I kind of want your opinion on. When providing anime only watchers LN only details. Do you ever consider holding back certain things due to OVAs or Flashbacks. I certainly do now. I don't like to give information that may have been reserved for a flash back. Because I care a lot about spoilers. I think if the anime does not include episode 0 cut content than it's generally fine to mention cut content from the LN as long as the anime is past that point. But there are cases where we know for sure the anime will go back and flash back to scenes etc. Like the Eris Goblin Slayer OVA. I pretty much know we will get a flash back of some kind to some events in season 2 core 1. At least one event.
I don't want to give any hints at which events, but we all know there is at least one story that will require a bit of a flash back. It will probably be brief. I'm not talking about fitz either. I am talking about something else. However that's not my question here. Just bringing it up for an example.
Do we all think we will get a Fitz flash back covering some of her journey from the castle to the university? It's not a lot. It's not vital to the main plot but it's still "important." If we think it's highly possible we get a flash back than we should not mention it to much or at all. I'm sure some people have already told "Anime Date Night" some of the stuff about Fitz in her side chapters that the anime has barely touched on. If they did it's not a bad thing as I'm not sure the anime will touch on it and we should know by now. However there is some chance it's covered in the anime.
However if we think the anime won't go more into it than it's important to her character to mention it I feel.
I still want to believe the anime will go into it as it's just too cool for Fitz character. But I have my doubts the anime will adapt it. We might even get it first episode of next core? Or it may happen even further down the road. Like imagine if LN readers started to tell anime only watchers all about the Eris Goblin Slaying chapter before the anime announced the OVA. That would be egg on our face in a way. And that did happen. lol I was raging that they cut all that content from the anime! Months later they announced the OVA.
But we had no idea that they planned to go back with an OVA. Now we know that they do that. So providing LN only material is a little bit risky now. And we know they will flash back to something in season 2 no matter what. They set it up already. So my main questions are as follows.
      1. Do you think we will get Fitz full back story in the anime?
      2. Even if we were to get that down the road? Is it really spoilers to mention it briefly now. Like the bullet points? In the LN we all know about it and it's not a major spoiler to the overall plot but important to know about. If an OVA or flash back is coming it's fine to sit on it. But at some point if I where an anime only watcher I would want to know. I think by the end of season 2 I would want to know. If no flash back or OVA comes before season 3. Than that is to late anyways. It changes how we view her character a little. And does play in with Alumnnia's comment too.
I am asking this as an overall ethics question. Not specifically to tell anime date night. lol I'm better they likely have heard some or all of it anyways. Hopefully not the stuff that we know for sure will be flashed back too. A lot of people kept that secret on other channels as LN readers knew it was not cut content. Just delayed. We will get it at some point in the anime for sure.

@@MrArrmageddon I read and watch a lot of stuff so I can tell you now. A lot will be cut. Unfortunately there isn't enough time and money to put everything in. This is one of the few animes that do such a great job of sticking to the source but that isn't always a good thing either. I much perfered this episode and how they did the Rudy wondering were Sylphie was after waking up in bed. And some anime can do a good job making the story their own. For the most part this one does but even that is still lacking in character.
Take the goblin Slayer episode, the reason it was even added in there was because it set up characters introduced later. Like Cliff and even then it didn't do a great job at developing them. So now Cliff at this point just seem like a Casanova for being able to land an elf wife that couldn't be tied down. Which it is all explained better in the source.
But even with the source you have to consider what the main objective is of the story. And that is this is A Rudy Story. Reading the web you feel that and any detail is just bonus to the reader. To the point that when it ends you maybe left unsatisfied. So what they did after was add more chapters after the web novel was completed. Which then were added to the story in good parts of it in the light novel. Since I never read the light novel I don't know how much they had to change and move around just to make the story pace better.
So it really depends. What is this anime about. I would say it is a Rudy story but even that I feel they are not doing a good job at. If I try to fit it in that box. So if I don't fit it in that box then I can't say one way or another if they will at OVAs to those parts.
Unfortunately with OVAs they should be something you can watch or don't have to and it doesn't take away from the story. Here it is different tho. Those side chapter are needed to make the story make sense which then why make them zero chapter or point five chapters.
Take Code Geass for example. They have point five chapters that just add depth to the characters but you don't really need them for the story. It is just more for bonus of it. But here they are needed and they should be watch in the space it is supposed to be in. Which is hard to distinguish if you are an anime only. And someone doesn't spoil it for you on where something was supposed to be in. Say we get three more seasons and six more side chapters. To an anime only are you telling them to watch the OVAs in their order or just tell them to watch the story. Do they have time. It kinda depends on a lot of things. How much do they care for a character. Will this change their mind on the character. If so why have it an OVA then. What not be in the season.
I add details to things because I seen and read a lot and kinda know what is going to be looked over. It kinda has already been doing that from the get go. But even then I don't add more details because I hope they may do something better with that information later on. The stuff I do say are things I have already figured out they have already failed to acknowledge. And to save money have no reason to add that information. They themselves have spoiled some things before the revile happens which has me thinking they have no choice but to change things around and make it there own. Time will tell if it is for the better though.

About Sylphy telling Rudeus earlier who she actually was, I'd say it was necessary for her to be Fittz. Just look at Rudeus' thinking when he found out it's Sylphy: he remembered the clingy crybaby, while he'd come to know and fall in love with Fittz, who's dependable and capable. He needed that to see Sylphy as an actualized person in her own right.

I have followed you since the first time you tried reaction content and it's so surreal being at the end of cour 1 with y'all now.
This episode was a masterpiece. Man, it's gonna suck not having Mushoku Tensei every Sunday. I love this show so much.
Rudy went from a perverted gremlin to a respectable man that actually fell in love, like actual pure love, not just lust. And Sylphie became reliable and strong, enough to keep advising and supporting Rudy throughout the entire arc. They're perfect together.
Also, there's no sex scenes in the novels. Rifujin only uses it as a plot device. He uses sex as a theme with intention and meaning, as we can see with this arc. Except for Elinalise because her sex scenes are meaningless, utterly lacking in purpose, which is part of her arc later on.
Anyway, I cannot wait to watch Mushoku with y'all again in April. Cour 2 and beyond will be the payoff to cour 1 and I cannot wait.

That world doesn't have the access to cinema and literature that we as regular people do. Rudeus has consumed a LOT of eroge in his previous life, so he has likely thousands of lines he can fall back on, with the residents of that world thinking he's being profound and thoughtful even at the spur of the moment. Even going into their marriage, she's red to her eartips thinking about the different things he says while toasting with her on occasions, including the light of her eyes, etc.
One of his first things to say to Roxy was one such line from an eroge: "You didn't fail, teacher, you just gained experience."

Oh and congrats to the anime and anyone watching. I think the anime is officially past the 1/3rd point of the story. I estimate about 34.65% progress if we are strictly going by LN comparison. 17 full volumes to go and exactly 9 fully completed. So 9 out of 26 should be 34.65%. The anime is not a 100% apples to apples adaptation so the amount of episodes left cannot be exactly predicted. But I suppose we can do a quick estimate?
There have been 40 episodes so far by my math if you count the OVA and episode 0. If that is 34%... I think the total amount of episodes can be ball parked at about 115. 115 subtract 40 = 75 episodes to go? lol Again this means nothing other than a decent guess.
But so much amazing story left! I am 92.4% of the story completed! By April it's all over for the light novel English release. Please no one spoil any of the series my comment is not an invitation to talk about any details of the LN/WB etc. I don't even like getting hints etc. So far this community seems to be good at that. They not only drop the honorifics of speech which can make a line more impactful to the story telling but they just down right change things and drop phrases just so they don't sound controversial. Which is disgusting to do because they have no right to do so in any form of art. That is censorship and it has gotten to the point where even the distributors of anime are censoring before they send it out so it looks better just so Crunchroll can pay for the licenses of the anime and not have to do the work. And you only know that if you watch the actual orignall broadcast of the show and or learn the language. Which is why many just choose to pirate from sites as soon as they are broadcast because at least there, fans translated to the best of their ability to actually convey what the original message was trying to show in this art form we call anime.

But think nearly 30% of reactions to this episode of MT had spoilers in the thumbnail! Some pretty big ones for this episode. I feel sorry for those who spoil. And as a LN reader I know that people like me could spoil the LN for reactions channels. Which is why I am super careful. It's disrespectful. I care even about minor spoilers. So thanks for saying that. It's okay if you made a mistake like you said a lot of people doing it and likely people doing far worse. It's not right and I've blocked channel that do that for spite. Of course I can forgive them but it really depends on how often and how big it is and if they seem to care. I don't even think I've ever been spoiled on a series I care about via thumbnails yet. But I've been close. Like I just watched an episode once and then saw a thumbnail that would have spoiled. But I care for others being spoiled. This was a good episode. And that part where Rudy worried about Sylphie not being there was done a bit better here then in the source.
But first it takes three days to get from the cave to back home so they did a lot of talking with each other. To the point they learned everything about each other.
Rudy's tent went down because he started to think about Eris and Sara and how they got away. Which is why he had to say his feelings out loud and how he loves Sylphie... not only because of the crybaby from back home. But because Fittz was a strong an independent character to the point Rudy sees Fittz as a respected and higher person then he is and that is even before he found out Fittz was Sylphie. So Rudy really values Fittz highly.
Luke really is the MVP here. He says Fittz isn't attractive because he only sees women as objects and to see Fittz as unattractive isnto point out he highly respects Fittz and see her as an actual friend. Which is different then what he sees the princess as. He pledged an oath to her so it is a life and death thing for him. So to him it isn't the same as friendship.
He also kinda the reason Fittz had so much doubt about her womenhood. This whole travel together was about all three of them trying not to die by assassinations and bad luck. So he would consistently tell Fittz she is unattractive because he see her as a comrade in arms. Which Fittz didn't have to because she didn't have an oath and could have betrayed them or sold them off at any time.
In the web novel Rudy freaks out about Sylphie not being next to him innthe bed when he woke up. He felt even worse and thought that he was just no good. Which is worse then how he felt with Sara and how he almost killed himself. Then he turns over and she is still in bed with him. Which he cries and I mean ugly cries like how much Sylphie cried in the cave. Which I say they did it better here because they can't really show monologs to long here. But Sylphie can't walk after that night even with healing magic.
Rudy also cuts that blood stain out and keeps it with his Roxy relic.
It is a good episode but they kinda down play the crying bits in all the whole series. It has more impact in the source. Remember Sylphie cried in the cave and ask Rudy to never leave her again. After what she has been through it just all comes rushing out. And after that night in bed. Rudy sees Sylphie and just hugs her and cries and tells her to never leave him ever agian. So they had similar moments with each other but at different times. Which shows to the other one just how much they care for each other and need each other. When they both saw the other as a higher person who they are unworthy of. The crying bits shows each other they actually are worthy of their loves.

Or and about the cave talk. Rudy mentions what happened to Eris and the note and Sylphie kinda threatens to do something to her but Rudy convinced Sylphie that he was in the wrong and that she shouldn't try anything with her. But in his head he thinks that Eris could kill both of them because in his eyes swordmanship is better then magic. So even if sylphie tried something she would probably die to a raging dog like Eris.

Rudeus highly valued Fittz, but he had actually started falling in love with "him" to the point of fantasizing about "him." Lucky for him the moment he articulated these thoughts to himself, he found out a bit of the truth.
In the light novel she was walking bow legged the day after.
A detail I had previously missed in the anime was when he groped Sylphy's chest, she gasps after a moment of silence. Rudeus could function again without the aid of drugs. Of course, it was described in the text, but yeah... That's what he meant when he said he'd been cured and absolutely crumbles in her arms.

@@JoseLopez-gi9sf What was Rudeus' preferred engagement distance to what he gauges Eris would be like as a swordswoman, a quarter-mile?
