hi! I have a question about adjusting my string height. should I cut the string? I do ok with the string not cut but I think I will do better when it is cut. and if I cut the string, will it affect my yoyoing? because im afraid it won't have enough power to come back if I cut it. (I'm short)
@@nomcloud Yes, a shorter string means less unrolling and less spin on the yoyo so the power will be compromised but isn't much. However a shorter string will give you more control and speed. You can try it for yourself. 1 string just costs around $0.2(for 100 pack kitty) so there's no harm in experimenting.

But I've noticed that the string- polyester- caused a kind of burn from the friction on my index yoyo finger, its deep enough that you can actually see the through the tiny gap. Of course my finger wont fall off or anything but not many yoyo players have talked about this. Am I overdoing it a bit or is there a way to avoid it, besides yoyo gloves?
That is normal. There are ways to do the tricks that do not put as much pressure on your finger so the string will burn less.

Dude yes you just solved my finger knot problem! I just bought my first yoyo since I was a kid at just a dollar store but the holes were to small every time (I bought 3 hoping the next ones hole would fit) now duh I just put the string through the hole and boom! Thanks man!

You can't just go to the store and buy some twisted mason line for the replacement. You have to buy special yoyo string-I wish I had known that before I cut the bad line off of the yoyo I just purchased. If your store doesn't carry special yoyo string, you can either order a pack with 5 strings online plus shipping and handling, or just buy another cheap yoyo for the same price.

Long string tricks refers to the length of the trick, not the length of the string. Whatever string length is comfortable for you should work just fine.

For my sage Yoyo, ever since I got it I had to triple wrap the string to get the response it’s supposed to have. With a single loop it was playing unresponsive with the response bearing in.
How did you triple wrap it because mine is being unresponsive can you send me a link?
I think I have another type of axle, cuz I put the string on like you showed, but the knot just rotates around it so you can't wind up the string.

What should I do if my unresponsive yoyo (Winter solstice) is starting to respond when being pulled up? I've only had it for a week or 2 and I can't get my grinds going because whenever I pull it up to my hand to grind, the string just begins to wind up the yoyo/snag without me doing a bind. This only starting happening about 5 days ago and It's really frustrating and I've tried switching strings and cleaning/lubing my bearing but it just made it worse. It's too responsive is my point. All the videos I could find talk about a yoyo not responding well enough but I can't seem to figure out how to stop it from snagging/responding. HELP!
there are two fixes 1:check the string at the bearings and make sure theres no tangles if there is take apart the yoyo and fix them 2: your bearings need to be re oiled after use for a while so try putting some type of lubricant in your bearings

As a fairly short person, will having a short string limit me later?
Maybe a little, but I would not worry about that if you are a new play. You can always lengthen your string when you get better.

I always take the yoyo apart and put the string directly onto the bearing and I've had no problems. Just watch the string loop while you're screwing it together to make sure it doesn't get pinched. It makes it easier, and I think you end up with a tighter, cleaner loop because you don't have to untwist much of the string.
Maybe I'm an idiot lol but I'm attaching a new piece of string. Is there a special piece of string? Because when I cut from a spool the end stands are separated. So I can't sister for my axel loop. Help
@@michaelha7 I'm assuming you're talking about using regular thread or yarn as yoyo string. While there is a way to make your own yoyo string with thread (see Dylan Kowalski's video "how to make the best yoyo string"), you will have to buy string meant specifically for yoyos.
Once you have that (YoTricks sells 100 polyester strings for 12 USD), follow the instructions of the video. Hope it helped!
How do you fix the string so that it makes the string tighter? The problem I have is that it doesn’t even tighten when I put my thumb on the edge of the string and twist and put it in the yo-yo.

People are hilarious!!!! A yo-yo string is one strand tied off at one end. That is the end you put ur middle finger in. The remaining string below that knot is a twisted loop. Untwist loop and slip over Yoyo axle. Done

Don't know where you got that string but the string I have is frayed on both ends. So untwisting the string give you a bunch of thinner strings all dangling there. Did you have to tie a knot first and then untwist??
Yoyo string comes that way. If you need to tie a knot it is either not yoyo string, or the string is already broken.

I don't make Slipknot. I just put the readymade finger loop at the very end of my middle finger instead of putting it between first n second knuckle. M more comfortable that way. But is it gonna affect my playability when doing advanced tricks?
It will be difficult to tie the knot exactly the same size every time you replace the string, so it is better to just get used to putting the string on the way we show in this video. That way it can be exactly the same every time, which will help your tricks be more consistent.

hi so I have a fixed wooden axle yo-yo from when I was younger and just started playing with it again but it wasn’t sleeping. so I fixed how my string is set up like in this video, but it literally only works for one throw. like I put it down once, it sleeps, and then when I bring it up and throw it back down it has the same issue where it automatically snaps back up. Any idea what the issue is?
The string may be too tight. If you loosen the string it may sleep more consistently. Also, some yoyos will only sleep every other throw.
