This was a great video. Helped me to fit a new carrier spring on my 9410. Your video was the only one I found that went down to that level of detail. Many thanks from across the pond.
You are a god my friend! Breaking it down barney style. I have tried for monthes to get mine back together and finally I found your video. Had to re watch a few parts but finally got it. Thank you!
Loved the video. I am simply cleaning my daughters gun for her and I know it doesn't need disassembly but I still watched both videos and learned a lot Thanks!
You're the man! I was stuck with the entire gun in pieces and no manual. I was going based on what looks right. I almost had it all figured out, but couldn't figure the carrier spring out based on the schematics online. They were so bad, couldn't see how and where it fit at all... This saved my old winchester 32-40! The carrier spring screw was stripped and fell out. Then the spring, so I had no idea where it came from, just stopped throwing cases on me and it and the screw hit the floor! Thanks a lot!
Great video!! Wished I'd of seen it before I took mine to the gunsmith. Problem was when I reassembled the trigger/hammer group, I installed the long spring upside down. The lever would only half-cock then lock up. Then I tried more muscle and slightly bent the sliding block the firing pin button is encased in. After seeing your video John I now know what the hell I'm doing. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for this video John ! Your video saved me a great deal. Your video has the closest Win 30-30 model 94 to my model Win 94 then any other video of the Win 94 that I seen on you-tube here . If I did not see your video I think I would be pounding my head against the basement wall, and then I probably would of had to take this gun to a gun smith. And again thanks a lot and GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY !
It’s a post 64 but also a post cintering process rifle. Winchester went back to machining the 94 receivers using CIC machinery. I believe this transition happened in the late 80s or early 90s.
No bullets required for proper functioning. Do you not have the stock on? if the stock is not in place the lower tang will not be held in the proper place. Have you replaced any parts? Like the breach block? If they need fitting it could cause the action not to close. OR, maybe a screw is a tad too long and is catching something. Like the loading gate screw.
What keeps the rounds in the magazine? Mine fall out into the bottom of the receiver when I load a round in the chamber.. I have a video on my channel showing what it's doing if you have time to watch..
I generally use 3in1 oil or outers gun oil, which is almost identical. I use remoil if I need to spray parts to soak, like a 22's action. And I use hoppes 9 for cleaning. I dont generally use grease, but I have used tetra gun grease. It worked well. I have tried various gun oils, and always go back to 3in1. I havent ever tried motor oil because its too thick for my tastes. remoil, essox and breakfree are all too thin for me. I've also tried lucas high temp gun oil (red) and lucas gun oil. The regular lucas was okay. I tried nyoil too, it was expensive, and not as durable as 3in1. I will use hoppes gun oil when i have it, but prefer outers and 3in1.
Why can I not get the lever to travel the last 1/4 inch to depress the safety on the bottom tang? It's like there is something blocking it. I have had it apart and back together 4 times. I can't see anything in the way. All the screws and pins are in the correct place. Does it have to have a shell in the chamber for it all to work properly?
I'm having trouble at approximately 9:55 The firing pin is getting in the way of the hook part of the lever that you stick through the receiver, so it doesn't go up all the way. If I reverse these two steps, then the hook part ends up in the way of the firing pin, so it doesn't fit in the bolt. What am I doing wrong?
What way is the long spring for the trigger mechanism suppose to go? One size has a flatter grinder down look. I put the flatter grinder down side up facing the hammer do you know if that's correct? Hope so because that spring is a pane to set back in.
Luckily I was right the problem was I should have never taken it apart in the first place. No need to really but after 2 hours I figured out the problem. Good as new and well cleaned but ill newer break down the trigger assembly again. But if I do I know how to put it back together the right way now.

Great video, I used it to replace my lever loop with a larger one. I was going to have to take it to a gunsmith until I ran across this.
great video it really helped out! I was able to smoothen up my action by removing the older oil from the previous owner.

Excellent video John, I had to take mine to a gunsmith, I feel more confident, thanks

Great video John. I too have a post-64 94 AE that needs a good going over. Tell me, what oil and grease do you use on your rifle?

Against the firing pin when it is fired
