Ever since teaming up with Honda's racing division, the Montesa has been the bike to beat in trials competition. But will switching to heavy four-stroke power bring an end to the Spanish company's dominance? MCN went to the woods in deepest, Derbyshire to find out...
quote " But will switching to heavy four-stroke power bring an end to the Spanish company's dominance?" well the answer to that is that Honda owns Montesa
I'd still like to stik to my old ty's 175 and 250 1974 77 79 etcetc but ib the early 80's io seen the 250 and had to have it 86 believe the made a 350 92 another 250 they made then 97 tyz really liked that now that bike I easily could of rode that till my dying dies but they become harder to find and a lot of fixin which I don't mond especially the price of these new bikes my lord that 97 was 6500 I believe but if you just like going out for a ride in general the older models atleast had a seat that was useful these bikes now are like totally 100% competition I don't mind even the older fantic's the 1 was a 240 it had a seat useable and a bar across the back something to grab on to when stuck or used for tying bike down
Hii guys. I have a qustion for you, i dont know if you will be able to answer me or not. Anyway here it goes: If its clear for a few years that the montesa 4 stroke bike is the bike to beat, why havent all the other manufacturers tried to make a 4 stroke engined trials bike? I know that Toni Bous skills are huge, but hasnt his dominance got anything to do with the different handlind0g of the 4 stroke engined bike? I wonder why gas gas, sherco or beta havent tried a 4 stroke engine. Can you help me with that doubt? Cheers
4 stroke engines are heavy and manufacturers like sherco, gasgas etc. pride themselves on having very light, agile trials bikes if they switched to 4 stroke they'd need a heavier frame to support their heavier engine and then they lose their identity. Beta make a 4 stroke bike however it's, in my opinion, not as good as my 4rt, having ridden both. Hope this helped!
The only reason that the Montesa has been the bike to beat is because they have Honda money to always pay the best riders, Dougie Lampkin and then Toni Bou. At anything below world level you hardly see anybody riding one as the other makes are so much better. Try one of the others if you think this is slim and light!
I hate the f...g Musik , stay focust on the engine Sound ! Or should it be a Musikvideo ;-) (sorry for my english) It´s hard to understand you with this terrible Musik in the Backround. (Video Nr13 ,with die 899 Panigale)

Im not too sure but I think the new ossa trial bikes are injected.
Leave it to Honda to take a classic marque like Montesa, and turn it into a four stroke with Repsol on the side of it.

Open face helmet and trail riding, do you hate your face?
