Really clean Type-S! I have a white ‘03 CL with an automatic transmission and bought it a year ago when it had 80k miles. I keep it super clean. It is a really reliable car (other than having to get a remanufactured transmission at 88k miles because the previous owner never had the fluid changed 🙃). I have a black 6-speed manual with nav. I love it. I remember getting a brochure for an 2003 model from the dealership. I forgot all about them when I needed another quick. Found mine at a dealership in Stone Mountain, Ga. only thing I hate is the color black. Other than that, been a damn good car.

Yeah Honda's are bullet proof. I had a '90 legend coupe 5 speed as well that I ran up to about 320,000 miles before I sold it and it was still running like a top when I sold it. I love Honda motors.
I’ve had the same car since 2010 in white, no navigation. At 154K the motor is still strong, uses no oil. For me it’s the perfect all-around car, fun to drive, easy to maintain, lets me shift. Have all maintenance records since new, the only thing that has broken was the steering rack, replaced it about 8 years ago. The car is bulletproof, always willing and never breaks. Not sure why they are unloved by the Honda/Acura community, but I won’t be parting with mine until Acura builds another coupe, but it’ll have to be good!
Keep that forever! The ones with no nav are even more rare than the one shown here, and the 03 CL-S six speed is actually more rare than the Integra Type R! Lol or sell it to me for $4,000 Mine could use a sister.
It's really nice to see a car like this so well kept. I find the older Honda/Acura models to be much more enticing than the overly tech-laden vehicles on offer today. The looks of the CL never exactly appealed to me, but it still looks better than anything being made now. I'm still surprised that they didn't sell more of these. Honda makes great manual transmissions - they are getting harder to find but are worth holding out for in my opinion.
I just picked up a 03 CLS6 white over tan leather with nav, 1 of 15 produced in that configuration to complement my 1 of 1400ish tl shawd 6mt, living the dream!

Beautiful car. If driven right, you'll never have to replace the clutch. When it comes to the clutch, it's all the way off or all the way on. Never half way or in the middle, meaning push the clutch all the way to the floor when shifting.

The golden age of Acura...what a gem! Forget about the Integra, RSX, TSX and everything else by Honda/Acura. This car has speed, power, luxury, and is totally under the radar. I am looking for a rare low mileage (50-100k miles) one as a second fun car, and willing to pay good dollar for it. Lets keep this awesome car a secret.
Only about 3500 ever made cl type s 6speed. This car is rare, stock brakes are weak, check the trunk under the spare tire usually after a rainstorm it will have a puddle of water...bad factory weld job...I found on the passenger rear corner near the tail light. Other than that a solid car, add V2 AEM intake and exhaust make the car real fun to drive. Can slap on slightly wider tires with 100 treadwear on stock rims to get better grip, can get tein coilovers which will drop it 2.5 inches. Tanabe exhaust is available for this car.
Looks a lot like my 4-door 2003 Acura 3.2 TL! I love it, bought it in Feb 2020 with 117,000 miles, at $4,500. A worthy investment, I hope! Much better owning it outright than a lease on a 2020 of most other brands. Loving Goldie, my amazing TL, your cool CL, and this little Acura community. My only complaint... my air conditioning in the 03 TL isn't blowing great. I put a canister of EZ Cool Refrigerant into it and its better, but is it worth checking at the mechanic. It's not super cold.

I bought one brand new in late 2002. It was also a manual drive with sunroof, but I didn’t have the navigation. It was black and I really enjoyed driving with the short shift. I always got compliments, because it was so different. I don’t know why Acura stopped making the CL after 2003.
I do like that color, my CL M6 is silver the most common color. Bought mine with 87k miles, dont drive it in the winter and will probably keep it forever. FYI that s not the stock shifter.
I own a 09 tl sh awd as well as a 03 cl type s (auto)... But definitely two of the rarest Acuras made. Been keeping my eyes open for a 08 tl type s just to complete my collection. But your cl might be the only one I've seen that's as clean as mine. Definitely well maintained 💯
Call me crazy but you got me wondering if the plastics they put on the engine (usually on the intake plenum) offer any sort of heat protection for your hood paint. I had only thought this because I noticed there was no heat blanket on the bottom side of your hood and the paint looked quite nice
2001 typeS is what I got, now I’m thinking I should I got the manual which had available to me had to do a $2300 transmission on it I’m at 195k love it I think
It's actually the Titanium Shift Knob from the Honda S2000 and the boot just sits naturally in place. It's not actually connected to the knob, but it looks great.

There's a 2003 CL S type automatic Acura with 80k miles asking $5800. I think its a bit too much.. ive heard nothing but horror stories on automatic transmission models. Currently own an 05 Honda accord ex coupe..
Yeah the autos were great, but around 45k miles many of them needed a full rebuild/replacement. Some people would swap them out for other trans from Honda accords I believe.
I really miss my 03 I bought with 24 miles, would you possibly part with that one? I missed mine so much I bought a 2001 but I would really rather have the stick instead of the auto.

I replaced the clutch/flywheel, clutch slave cylinder, both Front Wheel bearings, brakes, belts, right front control arm, spark plugs, power steering line, alternator bracket and tires. Most of this is basic maintenance. The biggest expense was the clutch/flywheel replacement due to the dual mass flywheel being so high priced. I knew going into buying this car it was going to need a new clutch so it was not unexpected. I do not anticipate doing many or any major repairs to this car going forward. I previously had a 1990 Acura Legend 5 speed and I drove that until it had 320,000 miles on the odometer and I only had to do basic maintenance on it. The car was running like a top when I sold it. Acura/Hondas in my opinion are very well made and if treated properly will run forever.

Thanks! I'm on the look out for an '07/'08 Tl Type S 6spd as well. Would love to add that to my collection. Hope you can find one soon too!
Pretty cool i have the same car but mines black and you live in Washington you even have onstar which is super rare! Mine has 307k
Love the cl have one in dark grey
03 6spd 131k. What clutch
Did you go with, and your exhaust set up, thank you.
Looks the Narrow's Bridge.
Call me crazy but you got me wondering if the plastics they put on the engine (usually on the intake plenum) offer any sort of heat protection for your hood paint. I had only thought this because I noticed there was no heat blanket on the bottom side of your hood and the paint looked quite nice
Oddly never gotten to drive one of these, drove quite a few tl type s back in the day but never a coupe 6spd
2001 typeS is what I got, now I’m thinking I should I got the manual which had available to me had to do a $2300 transmission on it I’m at 195k love it I think
hoping to get an automatic dark gray one as my first car... one day...
I’m lucky to have a 03 type s manual motor in my miata
U should definitely build that car into a beast
A Sweet Ride!
Did you change the shift knob to the rsx aspec one? How did you get the shiftboot to fit?
It's actually the Titanium Shift Knob from the Honda S2000 and the boot just sits naturally in place. It's not actually connected to the knob, but it looks great.
Rare!? My mom had this as her first car so she’s luck hehe
I want a CL-S 6 speed so bad, but they are so hard to find around me.
Subscribed!
have you done anything with the exhaust?
No nothing to the exhaust, just removed the catalytic converter and put in a straight/test pipe.
The Acura Guy how’s that test pipe working? Is it that bad for the engine? I was thinking of doing the same thing to mine
@@zuccsucc I've had mine on for about a year with no cat and still runs like a champ I think it gained a little bit more power but nothing too crazy
Highly recommend 👌
Zack E I ended up taking the cat off- I have performance mufflers and the moment that vtec cracks the car is roaring. Definitely a great idea
@@zuccsucc did a catback on mine til the cat finally clogged up and said f it and put just mufflers on it and it sounds pretty good 👍
how much hp does cold air intake and headers add?
Love it
Really miss mine sold it for cheap regret it big time
What do you have done with the exhaust? I have an 02 cl and want to do some mods so what would you recommend?
Fantastic
Hey man I have a 2001 cl type-s what intake do u have
hope you see this, but how loud is this car/ how loud can you make it?
I got mine last year with 111,000 for $4900, pretty clean with a little bit of rust in the rear quarter panel, oh well. It’s got 133,000 now. This thing is a perfect daily
6 speed gang wya
Right here bro I got one In red
How much for it?
I’m selling my white cl type s manual with 89k miles for $17900
There's a 2003 CL S type automatic Acura with 80k miles asking $5800.
2003 dont have the bottom fog lights ….
I really miss my 03 I bought with 24 miles, would you possibly part with that one? I missed mine so much I bought a 2001 but I would really rather have the stick instead of the auto.

I bough this in April for $11,900 cash. I did the timing belt/water pump ($1,200) , installed two mint condition OEM headlight assemblies and had them clear coated($900), and the odometer is now at 122,000.
I am selling it for $10,000 solely because I am need of the cash. Contact me if you are interested 734x818x9944.

I have one and know the woes...
what work did you have to do since you owned it? and what do you expect to do?
@@theacuraguy1601 right on, thanks for the reply. happy driving
I just found on with 180K on the odometer with the 6-speed, should I go for it?
I'm buying a cl for 2400 it has 196k miles
@@calico45 Cool. I found another one with 136k for $11,000. Do you think that’s a high price? It's another 6-speed too BTW.
@@MichaelD8393 In my opinion too high the seller must have a romantic strong hold a I love u but f u I don't like you type of relationship if the price was tops 8k that s understanding. I saw one i think o ebay with 83k for 6500 it was clean!!! I see in my area CLs with 140k going for effing 3800 and I cringe and the nice caring lovin' wouldn't hurt a fly human being in me wants to beat the brakes off the Captain Dick butt who over charged me for mine but I admit I love my ride. I don't think il be doing any cosmetics no spoiler maybe drop it a inch with spacers a purring exhaust not DEFINITELY NOT a loud ass look at me with murder on the mind looks and definitely a intake. My car came with the black out brake light covers and nice head lights. I'm looking to gank fog lights from a 01 02 CL
@@MichaelD8393 Did u go for the 180k you mentioned? Btw only downfall of my silver CL is it effing automatic I hate that but I'm blessed I have MS it sucks cats dicks but at least I can walk and no longer have to walk places. I recently gave up on my Challenger as it had to have Multiple Sclerosis too the windows would be playing with the other going up down up down all night killing my battery I love domestics always will but I always loved the two door accord so obviously I love the CL as it was designed from the 2d accord
@@calico45 Not yet, I plan to check out & test drive both CLs I've found; the red 180K one and the grey 136k one. I'm hoping for the grey one as I'm not much of a red car guy, though I will make an execption for a red Corvette, Ferrari or Lamborghini. Sorry to hear about your MS; that's my aunt's disease. She drives a BMW 525i if I remmeber correct because it's easier on her joints than say my uncle's Ford Taurus SHO. And I've heard the CL's automatic is prone to failure, so that’s why I'm specifically looking for a manual one. I'm also looking at a 5th generation Honda Prelude (also manual) which is a car I have a special history with. As the 6-speed CL Type-S is rarer, I might go with one of them first.
Rare is nice, but parts are hard to find. I bought a wrecked one for 700$ and swapped everything over to my 03 TLS. Reason? Just wanted to be different. 🤷🏻♂️

GET RID OF this car if you have it with an automatic. They are the worst transmissions ever made. Heed this advice, or you will be sorry AF. You can confirm this with a little digging online.
You just love to hear yourself talk, don’t you ?
Lol. Do you need a lesson on what walk-through videos are??
