This is a great tutorial! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Glad you liked it! And thank you for sharing on your stories I really appreciate it 🙏🏼💖
Thank you! Evelyn Wood suggested your video.
I heard! I love Evelyn Wood’s channel! I’m
glad you liked it! 🥰
I’ve always wanted to learn how to darn socks ☺️ Thank you for sharing lovely 💕
Yay! You’re welcome, we gotta care for our pretty hand-knitted socks ☺️💖
I'm going to have to try this technique. I would have liked to see it slowed down where you went over the actual hole. I couldn't tell what the thread was doing where there wasn't any sock for it to hold onto.
I am sorry to hear it wasn't clear enough. If you want you can slow down the speed of the video by going to settings and then playback speed - this might help! But if it doesn't I am happy to explain further if you want. I am doing the same scotch darning stitch on both the area that is covered as well as over the hole, the only major difference is that across the hole of the sock I am making my stitches AROUND the row thread I just created. Hope that helps! 😊
Wonderful video. Thank you.
I would like to know how you recommend “hiding the ends” as well when you get to the bigger hole how best to handle that.
Glad you enjoyed the video! 🤗💕When I hide the ends I am just pulling them in randomly in between the stitches with a darning needle. I know some people have 'specific methods' for hiding yarn ends - but I haven't found any specific method being better than others. Hiding the ends diagonally might help if you are unsure how to do it, going up and down in between stitches.
When it comes to bigger holes I find that scotch darning works really well as you pull the yarn through to the other side before creating your stitches. I would just make sure to use a darning mushroom (or similar) to ensure that the tension is correct for the area that you are darning. The correct tension can be harder to achieve when you darn bigger holes. Let me know if you have any other questions! 😊
Great video! One question: you don't actually demonstrate the backstitch you mention in the video though do you?
Thank you! I am pretty certain I did include the backstitch, but it might have been done very quickly compared to the rest. Sorry about that! If you need a tutorial there are several here on RUclips ❤️
Super cool! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it! 😊 💖
Thank you, but this is not really helpful for beginners since it's sped up so extremely that we can't see what you're doing, so we're left with only the verbal instruction, and that's confusing if you're a beginner. Would help maybe to use a contrasting yarn colour and especially do the first part really slow and close-up, showing exactly where the needle goes.
Thank you for your feedback! I might be able to do one in contrasting yarn in the future. I use the clothes I need to mend myself for my videos and I didn’t want contrasting yarn for these socks but I try to use contrasting materials when I can.
In terms of speed it is much slower in the beginning (how fast I made it IRL) than the rest but I can see that even slower would be helpful. Once again thank you for your feedback! Happy holidays! 🤶🏻✨
If you tap the video, upper right corner (3dots), you can slow down the playback speed to your preference.
Great tip! I often forget about that handy function of changing the speed on videos.
