I keep After Bite. The size of a pen and it's saved my itching arms when bugs are swarming. Saves that hours long paddle while scratching away. Another item I carry is eye drops for relief on breezy dry days.
3:23 I have had that happen to me, soooo glad I had wire cutters. Treble hook went through my thumb fingernail and out the other side, cut the barb and end of hook off then pulled it out and disinfected it. Those damn Megabass vison 110 hooks are sharp as hell lol
Great kit. A bit overboard, you're not hunting in the mountains. The wound seal and the mylar blanket are a must. Glad to see you staying safe with your pfd in the garage!
For the space it takes... I would rather be prepared and underprepared. My wife actually cut herself recently on a table saw and I already got to use the wound seal. That stuff works like a boss.
@@wendellfishing welcome. I was in the medical field before running the water plant. It's something I take seriously and like to see others reinforce it.
Great info! One thing to add - if you do get an eye injury (ie: hook in the eye) cover both up as your eyes move together and if the injured eye is moving it may increase the damage.
If by chance anyone gets sunburned Bactine works phenomenal. Just spray it on and let it dry. Tattooist use it regularly on tattoos so we can help the customer last longer. And I stand behind it with a sun burn. Even if you’re just starting to feel it. And can be used if you get a hook in your finger or watever burns or needs a infection cleaned right then! I definitely have some in my first aid kit!
Couple others. Benadryl. Kayaking is not the time to find out you have a deadly allergy. I also keep Imodium, zip strips, tongue depressor (finger splint), and a section of braided line for removing hooks. And practice deploying and applying your TQ with one hand. Stage it in a ready state on the outside of a bag. It's for major bleeding. If you need it, you need it now.
Great video. I had a really bad spider bite that needed surgery and about 3 months of wound care. I bought my kayak during this time and would just wound care it and plastic wrap it. Lol I am a bit of a rebel though. All those wound care items makes me question your fishing locations. Are you in Chicago or something? Lol Thanks for another great video. Happy fishing.
I would rather be overprepared than underprepared. When things go south.. they can go quick. I also don't just think of myself for the Kit. I would hate to run up on a boat ramp incident, or someone who cut themselves on a boat prop and not have what I needed to help. the negligible space it would save me vs the benefit is worth it 10X over.
@@wendellfishing Realistic, definitely need a first aid kit when salmon fishing. They will open you up while trying to get it out of the net! Mean as F@#$
Great kit. I would add a spare change of clothes in a micofiber or merino wool. I also would add a water purification method. I love my Sawyer Squeeze mini. I've been out hunting and miles from the car or house and forgot my water. I filled the bag that comes with it with water from a pond and ran it through into a second bag and voila. Water. A 10x10 tarp would also be good as it can provide shelter if stranded and also a wind screen.
I noticed your radio. If that is a video in the pipeline, just tell me to stay tuned. But would you consider that a part of first aide? Do you have to have an FCC license for it?
Hey Boss, The radio is a part of another video that is edited and in the cue.. but I only talk about it for a minute. If you are a recreational boater traveling within the United States, you do not need a license for a VHF Marine Radio. However, if you live in Canada, and others countries.. you do.
For any kind of travel, I don't carry pills not in the original manufacturer's packaging or a prescription labeled bottle. 1) if someone else has to use your kit, there should be no room for mis-identifying medication. 2) should the Po-Po take an interest in your kit, they won't find mystery pills. I carry single dose packaged items, including sun screen and bug deterrent, so that I use it, I can stick the wrapper in my pocket as a reminder to restock later on.

Good stuff 👌. You're the first person I've seen make a video focused on having a good first aid kit in this context.
Thanks Bucktail.. glad it was helpful

Meat tenderizer for bee stings......mix with water to paste and takes the sting out. Jellyfish stings as well.
Thanks Beyond!!!
A first aid kit is a must. It's up to you to make it usable and not too bulky
Right on Ron.
i have jumpiness silk skin banges in my first aid kit for fish and a flair gun
