Interesting design. Technically, it held water back. Even when seeping caused the top to crack and sink, it still held water out of the valley on other side until it was high enough to crest over the top. That's when it failed catastrophically.
Seriousness aside, when the top started to sink I went "I'm sinking, sinking! Oh, what a cruel world."
I don't know WHY I tried to imitate the Wicked Witch from Oz with barely there memories, but I did.
