I very rarely leave RUclips comments, but I really had to leave one for this video. I just changed my headlight in my '07 Focus using your method, and it took me maybe 3 minutes. It couldn't have been easier, it's done, it's done right, and I didn't even need a single tool. Videos like this make RUclips an invaluable resource. I am sincerely grateful that you posted this.
Hey Mayor McCheese... The drivers side is simple to change.... it's the PASSENGER SIDE bulb that's hard to change and you pretty much have to take off your front end. Do a video on that, and show everyone how simple changing that one is
Thank you, sir. I am a 65 you woman and bought a headlight for my 07 Focus. The guy at the shop said he would have to go from underneath. I found this video and changed it myself. Thanks muchly.
I just got a Ford Focus 2007 and one of the headlights was out. I've never done any work on a car before, and I changed both headlights today. Thank you so much for this.
@Ed Law It sits back behind the engine with minimal air flow tucked under the exhaust, bad location design. The part that is worse is actually changing it out. You have to undo the motor mount to get it out of there. A few hours out, a few hours in. I just sold it as not to go thru that again.
Thanks a lot for this buddy, it took me a hole 8 minutes to change both headlights, great vid thanks now I can have a beer with the boys and tell my wife it took 3 hours to change...
Gotta say that this video helped tremendously. After watching a half dozen other videos where they remove the entire assembly, I kept searching because there HAD to be an easier way. And here it is! No need to remove the assembly to change any of the bulbs (as it should be). Your video helped quite a bit in the sense of having to deal with the collar that holds the bulb in. Just a visual inspection would have recognized it but watching your 4 minute video saved a BUNCH of time trying to figure that out. Than you!
If you need to change the entire headlight, then it's a bit more work - including having to remove a panel under the car to get to the third bolt that attaches the headlight. But this is by far the best video on changing the headlight bulbs. I have big hands and I was able to do it this way. I bought a 2-pack of Sylvania 9007 XtraVision bulbs at Walmart for $20. One thing to note is that there are 3 notches on the sides of the new bulbs. These notches coincide with 3 bumps on the top, bottom and left side of the hole that the bulb goes into. If you line these up correctly the bulb with hold itself in place. Then you secure it with the plastic O-ring bracket. The rubber dust cover was a little difficult to get back on. But I found if you push in on the puffy part in the center it snaps the edges into place. Like he said, it takes about 5 minutes for each headlight. No screw drivers or any tools needed. Great video. Thank you!
Video is right on the money! Thanks for posting! If you're working on the driver's side with the tight fit, you may scratch your hand up a bit, but if you take your time and are careful, can be done in a matter of minutes.
Only way I was able to change my bulb! Thanks! My husband, a mechanic died a year ago and now I have to do it myself or pay someone else. These videos are so helpful!
My daughter was quoted $100.00 to replace her focus headlights. She’s stopping home after work for me to change them. Thanks, you saved a lot of people a lot of money!
Thank you for taking the time to post this video! My dad and I used to take apart the front end of my car just to replace the headlight bulbs. Today, I was able to easily replace the bulbs by myself after watching your video 😊
This video made it easy, took me about 5 minutes total. If you look towards the firewall you’ll see a little electrical “box” held to a bracket with three screws, i removed the screws and moved the box to the side for easier access. 👍
I did that also. I have large hands! One side the lock ring was tight and I couldn't get my fingers on it well enough, I guided a pair of needle nose pliers in and grabbed the edge of the lockring and rotated counter clockwise, bingo!
I watched several videos that showed them unclipping the front cover of the headlight. I didn't see any freaking clips on mine! Found your video & I got it done! Thank you so much! I spent more time looking for a way to unclip it than changing the bulb. Although I did unscrew it so I could see what I was doing. You are a life saver!
I have never commented before. Thank you a million times over! I just came in pretty defeated after almost removing the front end of my moms car- thankfully I found this video. Bulbs were changed in mere minutes! So much gratitude and appreciation for this!
THIS IS THE WAY! My repair manual and so many other youtube videos were making this harder than it needed to be. I didn't really need any tools at all for this process and it took 15 minutes (including watching this video and finding the bulb i had stashed "somewhere around here"). DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME taking out the whole light assembly if you just need to replace the main bulb!!! And don't waste your money getting someone else to do it, if you can take apart a blender to clean the blades then you can change this particular bulb.
OH MY GOODNESS THIS WAS THE INFO VIDEO I NEEDED! The first time I changed my drivers headlight bulb I followed directions from another vid and it had me removing alot of my front end just to get to the back of the headlight and took me hours! This vid I had the passenger side changed in under 6 mins!!! THANK YOU FOR GETTING DIRECTLY TO THE ISSUE AND RESOLVED
Thanks much! We had watched a couple other videos (that were apparently for a Ford Focus), but the steps they showed did not line up with our configuration. Your car matched ours and your steps showed us what to do! Thanks again!
Just replaced both headlights on a friends car and this was exactly what I needed to get the job done. Your concise description on the process had the exact amount of information I needed. Great job. Thanks so much!
I just did this in 0 Celsius (32 Fahrenheit) weather and it went ok. I have an beat-up 2007 Ford Focus and the only thing that went wrong was a part of the easy clip on the power cable broke, but it was still doing it's job. The rubber seal was a little hard to put on as well, but that's a given with the temperature. Much easier and effective than most other youtube videos who'd have me take the front off of my car. Thanks for posting this!
Aw man thanks so much..it took me 2 minutes. I didnt even have to take off the plastic ring. Once I took off dust cover it just pulled out. I changed the bulb..put back in..put dust cover back on and it worked...thanks again . Merry Christmas
Thank you so much. This was the only video that didn't have me taking the grill and headlight assembly and battery apart...and a list of tools! Your the best! I appreciate you so much!
Just in case anyone struggles like my boyfriend and I did with the replacement part: -You set the bulb in FIRST. It doesn't click in, and it actually feels pretty wiggly. Don't worry too much about holding the nub part on top, because you can rotate the bulb even after the O-ring holds it down. -My boyfriend and I had a debate about what "flush" means. The part that has the indents CUT out of it get screwed on to the bulb. Don't let the little flappy things in the middle confuse you. -Feel the car and find the three ridges shaped liked a triangle ON the car, next to the lightbulb spot. You have to use the cutouts of the bulb, set them on top of the little ridges and then screw it on. If you're struggling to screw it on, and it feels like it's not doing anything, then you have to make sure that the cut outs go over the ridges. -The plug in cord does not go through the O-ring. -To put the rubber dustcover back on the driver side headlight, you have to use a stick/screwdriver to hold down the super tight right side after pulling that side on FIRST, and then, still holding it down, work the rest of it back on. Still only took 30 minutes as opposed to bringing it to a mechanic. It's a really tight fit, so I recommend the partner with the smallest hands does the actual installing/removing :) Wear gloves or your hands will get shredded.
Thanks so much! I wanted to change both headlights. Canadian tire wanted to charge me $90+ dollars and told me it will be 1 hour labor because they need to take out coolant and bumper to get the the lights. I thought that was unbelievable for a headlight job. I began searching and brought me to your video. I thought Canadian tire is honest business but really they are full of crap.
Thanks. Was having a ton of trouble. The way you explain it is just like in the manual which I was following to the t... My issue was that when I put the bulb in, I expected it to fit in a bit more snugly, rather than being kind of loose. For anyone else wondering, it's ok if it's a bit loose when you first put it in (the bulb), that's what the retainer ring is for (to "retain" it; "hold it in"). Once I twisted the ring after putting it over the *semi-loose-but-installed* bulb, it held the bulb in firmly and plugging the electrical connector in was a breeze. So it's installed now, thanks!!! God bless
I've just done this on a friend's '03 Focus (UK) which has the clip-on back cover (H7 bulb with the spring clip fitting) and it was very simple. Thanks for posting this, I was all ready to have to pull things apart from the other guides I've seen online. Less than a 5 minute job :).
+Chris Cope Thanks for reporting back...I will have to had all the way back to 2000 for the years this method should work on since the body style did not change between then and 2003.
This is the best video for changing my Ford Focus headlight bulb that I've ever found. I've referred back to it twice now; works like a charm every time and I'm done in about 10 minutes..this coming from a person that knows very little about cars. Anyone can do it!
i just changed both headlights on my 2006 by myself fairly quickly without having to take apart my entire car. i’m sending this man a christmas gift 😭😭
Thanks, I bought bulbs for my Focus thinking it should be easy, and then all the videos I found showed people using all kinds of tools I don't have and taking the whole front of the car apart! Just for the bulbs! I was about to go take the car someplace. Now at least I'll try it myself. Thanks!
Glad I watched this first. If I had grabbed my tools first, I would be so kicking myself later for not having watched BEFORE. Any rate, a great video. Good job! Thanks.
Andrew Chesebro Thanks, when I was looking for a video I couldn't believe you had to do so much work to get to it...turns out you don't and I figured a lot of people's time was being unnecessarily wasted. Glad you got it done!
Ive been putting off changing my headlight. Finally bought the bulb today, and with this video I had it fixed in less than 10 minutes. I can't believe I put it off for so long, thank you.
Thank you very, very much for this, it worked like a charm on my wife's 2005 Focus. Although I think my hands may be a bit bigger than yours as you didn't seem to be bleeding by the end of it. If I could make one suggestion it would be to lay down a rag of some sort over the razor sharp pieces of metal that I guess Ford installed around there to discourage people fixing these things themselves.
Never touched anything on a car in my life before besides driving it. Even got someone to put on a new windshield wiper. Watched this video after canadian tire quoted me $73 and did it myself in about 5 minutes. The hardest part was getting the dust cover back on LOL. Thank you SO much.
While I could not see very clearly what you were doing, your description and tips were spot on. I changed my headlight bulbs today with just a little wrenching of the wrist on the driver side. The passenger side was a piece of cake. I added using needle nose pliers on the rubber cover when putting it back on where it is a bit tight. Once I did that, it was easy. Thanks
I'm so happy I found your video. I went to my car earlier today and got as far as taking the little cover off the headlight and pulling the little socket wire out but i wasn't sure if it was okay to do that so i didn't go as far as turning the bracket ring off but I was close to doing it right and i don't even know anything about cars. Your video is great because you did what I did without taking apart the whole front end. That's rediculous and I hope nobody is following that set of instructions.
Passenger side took less than 3 min but the Driver's side was more challenging as my hand had difficulty squeezing through the small opening. Regardless, this was a "lifesaver" and saved considerable money. Thx for the video, well done.
Thanks. I helped a friend out and changed her the bulb on her 07 focus. I was missing the part about that ring and your video showed how to do it perfectly. Thanks.
Saved me taking the car to a garage or pulling off the whole front. I'll likely one day be glad I followed the advice to change the other headlight too. Thanks.
I just put the headlight back in that wasn’t burned out until I can get a pair shipped because one burnt out. It took me all of about 5 minutes...on the passenger side.
Thank you for the time saving advice! You were the only video I could find that didn't rip apart the entire headlight assembly / front end. And congratulations on the weight loss! You look great!
Thanks so much for this video. I was going to take my car to Canadian Tire to replace my bulb and they wanted to charge me $70.00 just for labour saying it is very hard to do and could take a couple of hours to do it. It took me 5 minutes thanks to your video. And now I can use that $70.00 to buy groceries. Thanks again.
Wow, so much easier than the other videos. I wonder how the rumors got started that you have to disassemble the whole front end to replace a bulb. Thanks for a HUGE time saver :)
Thank you so much for making this easy to follow! My mechanic wanted to charge me $100 to replace my headlight, and this just saved me so much money! 10 minutes of labor for me and $90 saved! ♥♥
Thank you! Saved my life! The owner's manual (which I foolishly attempted to follow) doesn't mention anything about the outer ring--just says to twist the light bulb out--which is impossible. I spent a long time finagling with the darn thing, then saw your video and got it done in five minutes. Thanks again!
Thank you very much for your video. I bought a used Focus with no owner's manual and this video helped me tremendously. I wouldn't have been able to figure out what to do without it! Many thanks!
Thank you for this simple and correct method of replacing the Bulb. I was afraid I might need to remove the grill and headlight assembly even though it made no sense to me. After watching your video I went out and changed my bulb in less than. two minutes from the time I opened my hood. Knowing that I could simply pull the connection off the bulb and then turn the retaining ring counter clockwise to get to the bulb made all the difference. Thank again for your help and the time it saved me.
i'm anything but mechanically gifted and your video helped me feel like a pro and change Kermie's (green ford focus 07) headlight. thanks! i really appreciate the help.
Thanks for the video. After watching the other ones that showed taking the front end off the car, I was going to pass and bring it to the garage. Your video made this a lot easier. Not a lot of room, and you have to go by feel, but I changed both the bulbs in about 10 minutes. Thank you!!
this is exactly how i thought it should be done, saw somewhere else it was different for drivers side, but is pretty much the same. thank you for showing because the other videos and instructions looked super hard.
Thank you so much. I knew there was an easier way than taking out the whole headlight, especially since I saw the rubber dust cover. I had to go thru a few videos before I found yours. Again, Thanks
Thank you thank you thank you. You helped me get it done and I am not very mechanically inclined. Matter of fact I took it apart more the one I needed to before I found you
OMG!! Thank you so much for this video. I had both of them changed in under 10 minutes. I would have never been able to figure this out myself. I really appreciate it!!
Thank u so much for this quick, informative video w/o obnoxious loud music and for not telling me your life history. I’m a 62 yo woman trying to make it on measly social security and can’t afford to take my car into a mechanic for little stuff like this. I was able to replace both lights, easy peasy!! The hardest part was getting that dang rubber boot back on.
Keto Kevin So....after replacing my headlights, I clicked on the link from that vid about your Keto dieting. Wow! U have done amazing! I’m at a point where my physical health is going down hill because I’m overweight - now I’m subscribed to ur channel and will be trying to figure out how to do this! Your Keto diet info has come at an opportune time for me. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
I hope it helps! My weight still goes up and down but my “ups” are a lot lower than before and I can get it under control a lot faster with Keto and Fasting. Let me know if you have any questions:)
Super helpful! The only thing I struggled with was putting on the dust covers after I was done, but I'll take a couple minutes of work in order to save money. Thanks!
Wow, thanks a lot!!! I have watched a few other ;videos ... And tried to do the operation but I was not able to get healight set out. I was desperate and about to go on and try to take out the plastic shield on the bottom of the bumper. I even thought I would have to put the car on ramps to have access. But before I went further I watched your video and it was so easy!!! Thanks a lot!!!
Dude thanks so much for this video. I switched out both lights in about 15 minutes. The hardest part was putting the rubber covers back on properly lol.
Thank you Ford for giving us almost no space to do a simple headlight replacement! lol - thanks for the video tutorial, I scratched my hand up, but it worked!

Yeah I wish I can say the same it was almost impossible since the tab you need to pull up for the harness is to far in can't get it with your fingers

Thanks
Good job!
I have a 2006 Ford focus this video was dead on made it extremely easy to change the headlight bulb took off about three minutes thank you so much
I'm so happy I found your video.
+lora savage Unfortunately, I think a lot of people are!
Passenger side took less than 3 min but the Driver's side was more challenging as my hand had difficulty squeezing through the small opening. Regardless, this was a "lifesaver" and saved considerable money. Thx for the video, well done.
Thanks for the comment!
Woohoo! So easy me and my grandma fixed my headlight by ourselves! Thank you so much!!!
Your 4 minute video saved me a full days headache. Cheers!
Thank you for the time saving advice! You were the only video I could find that didn't rip apart the entire headlight assembly / front end. And congratulations on the weight loss! You look great!
Thank you!
Watched this video, walked outside and had the job done in less than ten minutes, eeeeeeeaassy!!!!! thanks mate!
Just a word of thanks - this was an amazing tip & worked very well!!
😁😁😁
Thanks so much for this video. I was going to take my car to Canadian Tire to replace my bulb and they wanted to charge me $70.00 just for labour saying it is very hard to do and could take a couple of hours to do it. It took me 5 minutes thanks to your video. And now I can use that $70.00 to buy groceries. Thanks again.
I am glad I could help:)
Wow, so much easier than the other videos. I wonder how the rumors got started that you have to disassemble the whole front end to replace a bulb. Thanks for a HUGE time saver :)
I don't know, but it's terrible!
Thank you so much for making this easy to follow! My mechanic wanted to charge me $100 to replace my headlight, and this just saved me so much money! 10 minutes of labor for me and $90 saved! ♥♥
I’m glad it helped!
Thanks, my mom really needed your help. She was so happy that she did this herself.
+Lauren Rauh Glad I could help:)
Thank you! Saved my life! The owner's manual (which I foolishly attempted to follow) doesn't mention anything about the outer ring--just says to twist the light bulb out--which is impossible. I spent a long time finagling with the darn thing, then saw your video and got it done in five minutes. Thanks again!
Thank you so much. Just changed both headlights in our car without a hitch. My wife smiled and said “now you’re a mechanic “😆😆😂🙏
So easy! Thank you man, you saved me so much trouble. I know nothing about cars and did this in less than 5 minutes on my 2006 Focus.
+Ryan Klavans Glad to help.
Thank you very much for your video. I bought a used Focus with no owner's manual and this video helped me tremendously. I wouldn't have been able to figure out what to do without it! Many thanks!
Dean Dauphinais no problem. It will probably be a good car for you. This is my second focus and they are bulletproof!
+Boyd Miner I'm glad it worked out for you! All that other stuff is unnecessary.
I changed my head light for the first time, the hardest part was getting the dust cover back on. Thanks!!
Thank you so much! I just replaced both headlamp bulbs using your video as a guide. Great video.
I'm glad it helped:)
i'm anything but mechanically gifted and your video helped me feel like a pro and change Kermie's (green ford focus 07) headlight. thanks! i really appreciate the help.
Thanks for the video. After watching the other ones that showed taking the front end off the car, I was going to pass and bring it to the garage. Your video made this a lot easier. Not a lot of room, and you have to go by feel, but I changed both the bulbs in about 10 minutes. Thank you!!
Thanks for the time you took making the video. Saved me some time doing the change. Appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, saved me a bunch of time trying to figure it out.
I’m glad you got it!
This video helped me take the leap to working on my own car for the first time ever. It was easy! great instructions, thank you!
I am really glad it helped. Good work!
Thanks for the video! Very clear and took me 20 minutes to r & r the left headlight bulb.
Ok, that's amazing! Just changed my headlights in under 10 minutes. Way easier than previous methods which left me cursing engineers!
That’s fast!
this is exactly how i thought it should be done, saw somewhere else it was different for drivers side, but is pretty much the same. thank you for showing because the other videos and instructions looked super hard.
Glad it was easier!
Your video is very informative and to the point. I changed my bulbs in ten minutes total because of this video. Thank you so much.
I’ve never left a RUclips comment before, but I had to for this guy. Thanks a ton!
Thanks for making me your first!
Wow, that was literally a 5 minute job. Thanks for the instructions, saved me a whole lot of time and money too.
Thank you so much. I knew there was an easier way than taking out the whole headlight, especially since I saw the rubber dust cover. I had to go thru a few videos before I found yours. Again, Thanks
I'm glad I could help!
Dude thanks for the video. Needed to change my headlight in a pinch and you saved my night. Appreciate you
I’m glad you found the video;)
Thank you thank you thank you. You helped me get it done and I am not very mechanically inclined. Matter of fact I took it apart more the one I needed to before I found you
I’m glad to help!
Struggled a bit to get the boots vmback on. Loosened the top 10mm bolts just enough to finish the job. This tip was spot on.
BTW mine is a 2005
I’m glad it helped!
Just did it in about 10 minutes on my 07 Focus. Really easy with your guide. Thank you so much!
So perplexing when you first encounter this bulb replacement, so easy after you watch this video. Replaced both in minutes flat. Thanks!
Glad you found it!
Thanks to your video I changed my headlight. Getting the dust cover back on took the longest I think!
They do seem to get a little warped. Good job!
OMG!! Thank you so much for this video. I had both of them changed in under 10 minutes. I would have never been able to figure this out myself. I really appreciate it!!
You are the best!
From all others I needed a collision shop
I’m glad it helped!
I’m glad it helped! That was the hardest part for me too.
Let me know if you have any questions:)
awesome directions I did my 2007 yesterday and it took under 15 minutes. Thank you.
Glad I could help save you some time.
Thank you so much ! Your video saved my day ! Ford Focus Zx4 2006.
I'm really glad it helped!
Thanks. The access is completely occluded to the eyes, so knowing what to do and expect made a huge difference.
The quick connect was seized on. Thank you for the video, it let me know what to do!! Amazon does also have cheaper bulbs. Thanks for the video!!!
Not being able to see it was the toughest part, glad I could help!
A tough job made simple. Thanks so much. Very unlike the video that has you pulling half the front end apart.
I saw that one too...then I set about doing it this way. lol
Super helpful! The only thing I struggled with was putting on the dust covers after I was done, but I'll take a couple minutes of work in order to save money. Thanks!
That was the most difficult part for me too.
That was the hardest part for me too. If they were warped...forget about it!
You just helped me pull off a car repair. You are awesome Thanks. Great video!
Good job:) RUclips university to the rescue. lol
This really helped! took me under 10 min to do, when i thought it was gonna take a while. Thanks Dude!
Thank you Ford for giving us almost no space to do a simple headlight replacement! lol - thanks for the video tutorial, I scratched my hand up, but it worked!
