    • @kris3451
      @kris3451 Месяц назад +8

      I think it should be 1-2pts for a high-elevation pick up (like the one in this video), then you get reset standing or standing/seated. If you have the ability to slam someone dangerously, that *should* count. I think currently, allowing the slam would just be detrimental to the athletes, because FAR too many don't train to disengage/counter for slam safety (sportJJ mentality). However, after a few years of people being conditioned to actually protect themselves (not have the rules protect them), then I can see allowing slams.

    Take downs from feet to ground in any position need to count for something as should escapes from ground to feet. And any guard pulling should count as points for the top person.

    • @kris3451
      @kris3451 Месяц назад +1

      In a way, this is already the case. If you take them down and HOLD, you get points. If they immediately escape, there is 0 points. So you could think of it like 2 for the takedown, and 2 for the guy escaping... resulting in 0 change. Either way, it's 0pts difference.
      I like the idea of points for doing something useful. But I fear this would cause VERY boring matches - they'd play patty-cake for several minutes, very fearful of allowing takedown points. Then one guy would eventually (maybe toward the end) shoot and get points. The bottom guy probably wouldn't try to submit or sweep, he'd just try to cancel out the points by standing back up. So it'd just be a boring game of keeping distance, and disengaging, both standing and on the ground.

    Wrestlers can move into jj and reach a relatively high level. Maybe not always within 2-3 years, but within a relatively short time. Very few if any jiujitsu players can reach a high level in wrestling later in life. I think it will be interesting to see Nolf’s progress in jiujitsu.

    • @loomaoo
      @loomaoo Месяц назад +3

      "Very few if any jiujitsu players can reach a high level in wrestling later in life." Wrestling is to BJJ what boxing is to Muay Thai. If you train and become high level of a sport that is a subset of another, of course you'll be able to transition and be good in the other sport, but if you switch it around you're now imposing limitations on what you're trained for. That's one of many reasons why no one transitions into wrestling; it's a sport to move out of not into.
