I was 15 in 1984 when this came out. This was a new type, along with Jackson, Duran Duran, etc from what I was used to hearing. It really made an impact that's still there.

The early Madonna - of which this song is one of them - was the best, e.g. the 1980s. After that, it's been downhill eversince. She never could really sing, but she's business savvy and her earlier songs had some good, catchy beats.

The only Madonna song I ever went out and bought, the guitar solo section just kicks ass. Always wondered whether the "raw" sounding production of this track was deliberate or not. The backing vocals just before the chorus do have a very 50s sound about them.
Incidentally, just listened to this through headphones for the first time ever and am amazed because I never realised that Madonnas lead vocal has an echo behind it!!

This was the song when I first enter into a nght club here in the Philippines at the age of 18. Nostalgic things happen to me, Iost my virginity and the rest is history. Way back then when you were young and it seems you wanna go back to those years and make up those things you had regrets. But then it is a thing in the past that you need to learn and added lesson to you as you grow old. I am still single at the age of 45.

My first Modonna concert I knew she would be as big as MJ one day $13.00 a ticket a bought six for my friends an relatives. Next after that was $50.00 in a bigger venue after that I can't afford it any longer, but her old sounds I like the most that Jelly Bean Benitize New York streets sound.
