Despite the pressure of the timing and speed, this must have been SO much fun to make, and so satisfying to see the end video.
My husband's a video editor. He says it WAS all in one take, it's just that the "behind-the-scenes" part wasn't the EXACT behind-the-scenes take of the "official" take. They just used a different behind-the-scenes take because likely the best "behind-the-scenes" take did not match the best "official" take.
Yeah, I noticed right away she approached the microphone differently than in the actual video. Still, this was so cool to watch!
The amount of work in planning, rehearsing, cinematography and editing in this video to do this in one take is mind-boggling. Fantastic.
This video deserves more views and likes!

With the software they have these days i was thinking overlays on the multiple cam angles and recordings so cheers to the team for a great wardrobe and cam team. Metric rule

It's so funny seeing everyone rushing about but it looks so seamless in the final video.
Wow!!!!! It is really nice and intriguing to see a video like this that respects the integrity of a single performance in this way. Not that I am suggesting that their is anything wrong with editing but the fact that this was shot in one take gives the video a kind of unity that most other music videos don't achieve. Fantastic work!

this is one of those things where it looks like it would take forever to get right and you think there must be a trick. but when you look for the trick you realize there was no trick. it just took forever to get right.
Feist does most of her vids in one take too. I love that,

This PV deserve an award. Some really crappy videos have won awards and some gorgeously edited videos have won awards, but this kind of beautiful well-made video needs an award more than any of them.
Naaah! Awards are shit. Awards go to the band (actor, writer) with the best agent.

It was not done in one take. Look and watch the two versions side by side and you plainly see that lol. But in either event, it is fun watching a talented band having fun at a shoot. Comes out in the music very well!
My favorite Metric video. I was always wondered how they pulled it off. Never thought to search for the behind the scenes video. Late to the party again.

wow.. thought this music vid was done with trick photography until now. as cool as it is, there was a slight voice nagging in the back of my head that metric had gotten so "big" they could afford a video like this and it kinda took away from how cool it came together and put a subconsciously negative commercial spin on the band.. but now that I know they effin ran around pulling their shirts off behind the camera I am re-assured of why I love these guys as true artists.

Thanks for posting this. At this point, i'm not sure what's more remarkable. The video or the "making of." definitely not staged. Suppose it speaks to the their music. These guys are sincere...and this is coming from a 40 year-old copper!! lol
omg there is no way I could do this video justice by commenting on how much I loved it! let alone the song.
You misunderstand the usage of the term "all in one take". It doesn't mean that they literally just did one take and that was it. They will have done multiple takes, and the finished video is the one complete take they did where everything was exactly right. No matter how many times you rehearse something like this, it's unusual to get the whole thing dead-on in the very first complete take - you only need a slight timing mistake or stuck zipper and then you have to start again from the top.

@dgschmitke He is the focus puller. The device in his hands is the remote. He follows the camera around to watch the monitor so he can focus by eye.

Look at that move Emily makes with the guitar on the right screen at 2:17 with the camera still on her. She never makes it in the video, so it's not all one take. Still an awesome video.
That must have been a lot of fun. Stressful too no doubt, but ultimately fun. Glad someone shot the extra footage, and synched it up too. Great job.
